Take it

The soft glow of morning light filtered through the sheer curtains, casting golden hues over the bedroom. The city outside was slowly stirring awake, but inside the Kornnaphat-Kwong residence, time moved at a gentler pace.

Orm lay sprawled across their bed, the sheets tangled around her legs, her dark hair a mess against the pillow. Her arm stretched out instinctively, reaching for the familiar warmth of Ling beside her—only to find an empty space. A small frown creased her brow as she groaned sleepily, burying her face in the pillow.

The scent of fresh coffee drifted through the air, pulling her from the depths of sleep. With a sleepy pout, Orm cracked open an eye just in time to see Ling standing by the dresser, sipping from a steaming mug, dressed in nothing but one of Orm’s oversized shirts. The fabric hung loosely off her toned frame, exposing the strong curve of her thighs, her damp hair falling in soft waves from her morning shower.

Orm blinked, barely awake but already mesmerized. “Morning beautiful wife.” Her voice was a husky, sleep-laden murmur.

Ling smirked, taking another sip of her coffee. “Good morning, my love.”

Orm groaned, stretching out like a lazy cat before reaching a hand toward her wife. “Come back to bed.”

Ling chuckled, setting her mug down on the dresser before making her way over. “You need to wake up, baby. We both have long days ahead.”

Orm huffed, reaching for Ling’s wrist and tugging her down onto the bed. Ling barely had time to react before she was pulled into the warmth of Orm’s arms, her body pressed against her wife’s. Orm buried her face against Ling’s collarbone, inhaling deeply.

“Mmm… you smell good,” Orm mumbled, her lips brushing against Ling’s skin. “Can’t we just stay home all day?”

Ling laughed, fingers threading through Orm’s hair, indulging her for a few moments before gently pulling back. “If we do that, your director will send an angry text in about an hour.”

Orm sighed dramatically, nuzzling Ling’s neck. “I’d rather stay here, with you.”

Ling softened, cupping Orm’s cheek as she tilted her head up to look into her sleepy, love-drunk eyes. “Me too, baby. But we’ll have all night.”

Orm let out a small hum of contentment before finally loosening her hold. Ling took the opportunity to sit up, rolling her eyes as Orm pouted up at her. “Come on, superstar. Time to get ready.”

As Orm reluctantly peeled herself out of bed, Ling made her way back to the dresser, picking up her phone to check the time. A notification flashed across her screen—an event reminder for tomorrow’s Cartier Gala. She sighed, knowing it meant a long evening of press, socializing, and flashing cameras.

Orm, catching her expression, walked up behind her, resting her chin on Ling’s shoulder. “What’s wrong?”

Ling leaned into her. “Just thinking about the gala tomorrow.”

Orm pressed a kiss against her cheek. “You’ll be stunning, as always.”

Ling turned her head, her lips barely brushing Orm’s. “I’ll be missing you the whole time. I hate the idea of going to an event without me, all eyes will be on you”

Orm smirked. “You’re making it very tempting to crash the event just to go find you.”

Ling chuckled, shaking her head. “And you say I’m the reckless one.”

They moved through their morning routine together—Orm scrolling through social media while Ling did her makeup, Ling fixing Orm’s tie while Orm took every opportunity to distract her with kisses on her shoulder. It was seamless, effortless—the dance of two people so deeply in sync, wrapped in the kind of love that made the mundane feel like magic.

Finally, as they stood by the door, ready to part ways for the day, Orm pulled Ling close, her lips hovering just above hers. “Come home to me as soon as you’re free, okay?”

Ling smiled, pressing a lingering kiss to Orm’s lips. “Always baby. Have a good day, I’ll see you tonight”

With one last look, she stepped out into the world, each carrying the warmth of their morning together in their hearts, knowing that no matter how far apart the day took them, they would always find their way back to each other.

After finishing breakfast, Orm leaned back in her chair, casually scrolling through her emails—until one subject line made her heart stop.

"Offer Confirmed: Your Next Lead Role."

She blinked. Once. Twice. Her breath hitched.

“Oh my god.”

Without hesitation, she called Mae Koy. The phone barely rang before her mother answered.

“Are you kidding me, Mae?” Orm’s voice wavered between shock and exhilaration. “This is—this is huge!”

Mae Koy’s voice held a teasing lilt. “Since when have I ever joked about business, my dear?” But beneath the professionalism, pride laced her words. She knew how much this meant to Orm. She knew this would change everything.

Orm let out an excited squeal, unable to contain herself. “Mae, this is unbelievable! I actually got it?”

“You earned it, baby,” Mae affirmed warmly. “We’ll talk more over lunch. I’ll pick you up in thirty minutes.”

“Yes! I’ll be ready—thank you, Mae!” Orm hung up and immediately jumped to her feet, twirling around the room in pure joy.

She had done it. She nailed the lead role in the biggest upcoming Thai blockbuster—the one everyone in the industry had been fighting for.

And the only thing that could make this moment even better? Telling Ling.

________

The studio was a whirlwind of light and noise, a world away from the quiet haven Ling craved. Photographers barked instructions, makeup artists hovered, and the air crackled with the energy of a high-profile shoot. Elle Thailand. A coveted cover. But beneath the polished veneer, Ling's heart thrummed with a singular desire: to be home, with Orm. Every flash of the camera was a painful reminder of the distance between them, every perfectly posed smile a mask hiding her longing.

And after this? Another set of lights, another set of demands, the cool, elegant gleam of a Cartier shoot awaiting her. The thought, while luxurious, added another layer of weariness.

Finally, the last shot was taken. A collective sigh of relief seemed to ripple through the studio. The photographers reviewed the images on their screens, murmuring in agreement. Ling, still encased in the gown, felt a wave of exhaustion wash over her. But there was no time to linger. Before the makeup artists could even begin to dismantle her carefully constructed look, a flurry of assistants descended, ushering her towards a waiting car. "Cartier," one of them announced, the word clipped and efficient. "They're expecting you in thirty minutes." Ling nodded, a silent acknowledgment, and allowed herself to be swept away. The car sped through the city streets, the neon lights blurring into a kaleidoscope of colors.

Inside, she closed her eyes, trying to summon the image of Orm, a beacon of warmth against the encroaching chill of the night. The Cartier shoot loomed, another performance, another mask to wear. She wondered, briefly, if she would ever truly be able to shed them all, to simply be herself, in the quiet sanctuary of her home.

_______

Orm sat across from Mae Koy at their favorite restaurant, a quiet, intimate spot tucked away in the heart of Bangkok. The warm lighting cast a soft glow over the table, and the gentle hum of conversation around them created the perfect backdrop for what was about to be a career-defining moment.

Mae Koy took a sip of her tea before setting the cup down with a knowing smile. "Alright, let's talk details."

Orm leaned in, eyes shining with excitement. "Tell me everything."

Mae Koy slid a neatly printed contract across the table. "You're officially the lead in Eclipsed Fate. The production is massive, likely to be one of the biggest Thai blockbusters of the year. The budget is enormous, and the director—P’Wichai—is aiming for international distribution."

Orm’s heart pounded with exhilaration. Eclipsed Fate. She had dreamed of landing this role ever since she first read the script. It was a historical thriller, full of intrigue, passion, and depth—something that would challenge her as an actress and push her even further in the industry.

"The shooting schedule is intense," Mae Koy continued. "Four months on set, mostly here in Thailand, but the last few weeks will be shot in Taiwan. It’ll be grueling—long hours, demanding scenes, and a lot of press when the time comes. But, Orm…" She reached out, squeezing her hand. "This is it. This is the role that will cement your status at the top."

Orm swallowed hard, overwhelmed but thrilled. "I’m ready, Mae. I want this."

Mae Koy smiled approvingly, then hesitated. "There’s just… one thing."

Orm raised an eyebrow. "What?"

Mae Koy sighed. "Your co-star."

Orm stilled. "Who?"

Mae Koy hesitated for just a moment before dropping the name. "Jason Liu."

Orm’s stomach twisted slightly. Of course, it had to be him. She knew him from reputation and saw him back in the days at the beginning of her career.

Jason Liu was a big name in the industry—charming, talented, and undeniably attractive. But he was also notorious for his on-set flirtations. His history with female co-stars was legendary, and more than a few scandals had been linked to his name.

Orm exhaled, already feeling the weight of what this meant. Ling was going to hate this.

"Well," she muttered, picking up her water glass. "That's… something."

Mae Koy chuckled knowingly. "I take it Ling is going to have an opinion on this? I know how she can be protective and she knows Jason personally"

Orm groaned, leaning back in her chair. "My wife is the most secure woman I know… especially when it comes to men looking at me. And Jason Liu? He doesn't just look—he hunts." She rubbed her temples. "She’s going to flip. But thank god she knows him, he might not attempt anything since I’m her wife."

Mae Koy smiled, half amused, half sympathetic. "Just be honest with her. Reassure her before she even has a chance to get worked up. And most importantly—set boundaries with Jason from day one."

Orm sighed. "Yeah. You're right. I'll handle it." She smirked slightly. "Though, honestly, a little bit of jealous Ling is kind of hot."

Mae Koy rolled her eyes. "Just don’t let it turn into a problem, hmm?"

Orm grinned, shaking her head. "I got this, Mae."

Still, as she sipped her tea, she couldn't help but imagine the conversation she’d be having with Ling that night.

It was going to be interesting.

_________

The city lights blurred into a streaky, neon haze as Ling's car finally pulled into their driveway. After a marathon of back-to-back shoots, the weight of makeup and manufactured smiles felt like a physical burden. But the moment she thought of Orm, a genuine smile tugged at her lips. Just the thought of her wife, her warmth, was enough to chase away the lingering fatigue. She loved the sound of Orm’s name in her head, a soft melody only she could hear.

The heavy front door swung open, revealing a haven of familiar scents. Lavender and jasmine, Orm's signature blend, filled the air, a comforting embrace that always reminded Ling of her "sun," her radiant wife. Soft, melodic jazz drifted from the kitchen, punctuated by the gentle clinking of utensils. Orm was clearly at work, her back to Ling, a silhouette framed by the warm glow of the overhead light. Ling crept closer, a mischievous grin spreading across her face.

Orm was intensely focused, brow furrowed in concentration, likely battling a new recipe. She jumped, a startled gasp escaping her lips, as Ling's arms wrapped around her waist. A soft chuckle rumbled against Orm's neck as Ling pressed a gentle kiss to her skin.

"Hello, beautiful wife," Ling murmured, her voice a low, soothing caress.

Orm leaned back into Ling's embrace, a relieved sigh escaping her lips. "Baby! You scared me half to death!" She turned, a bright smile lighting up her face, and placed a quick kiss on Ling's cheek. "How was your day? Another endless parade of cameras and glittering jewels?"

Ling chuckled, nuzzling her face into Orm's hair. "Exactly as you imagined. But it's all worth it to come home to this." She gestured around the kitchen, taking in the warm ambiance and the tantalizing aromas. "What culinary masterpiece are you attempting tonight?"

Orm's smile widened, a hint of playful mystery in her eyes. "Something special. But before we get to that," she paused, her excitement barely contained, "I have the most wonderful news!" She turned fully to face Ling, her eyes sparkling. "Remember that movie I’ve applied a few months ago?"

Ling's heart skipped a beat. She knew how much this meant to Orm. "Of course! Did you hear back?"

Orm nodded enthusiastically, her voice brimming with joy. "They want me!"

Ling's eyes widened in disbelief, then filled with pure, unadulterated joy. "Orm! That's incredible! Oh my god, I'm so proud of you!" She wrapped her arms tightly around Orm, pulling her into a jubilant hug.

Orm hugged her back just as tightly. "I have the lead role, baby I can’t believe it" she corrected, her voice soft but firm. "I wouldn't have done it without you.I’m a bit afraid, Mae really insisted on how huge it is”. Do you think I can handle it? says Orm

Ling nodded, squeezing her hand. “I know you will. And if anyone can pull off something this big, it’s you.”

Orm exhaled, biting her lip. “There’s just one thing…”

Ling’s eyes narrowed slightly. “What?”

Orm hesitated before saying, “I’ll be co-starring with Jason Liu.”

Ling stilled. “…Jason Liu, as in the heartthrob of Asia Jason Liu? The guy who flirts with every single one of his co-stars?”

Orm winced. “Uh… yeah. That Jason Liu. But you know him don’t you?”

Ling arched an eyebrow, crossing her arms. “Interesting. Yes, I do know him, but I don’t want him to think he has any chance to have my wife”

Orm smirked, poking Ling’s cheek. “You’re jealous.”

“I’m not jealous,” Ling said quickly. “I’m just… protective.”

“Mhmm, sure.”

Ling huffed, tugging Orm closer. “If that man even breathes too close to you, I swear—”

Orm laughed, kissing Ling’s cheek, then her lips. “Baby, I only have eyes for you.”

Ling sighed, still pouting but softening. “Fine. But I’m coming to visit set anytime I can.”

Orm grinned. “I wouldn’t have it any other way baby.”

________

A Few Days Later

Orm was still basking in the excitement of her new role, her mind filled with script readings, costume fittings, and the inevitable press whirlwind that would come with Eclipsed Fate. She was going to be a lead actress in one of the biggest Thai films of the year—her dream was unfolding in real-time.

But across the room, Ling’s phone buzzed. A notification flashed on the screen, and the moment her eyes landed on it, her entire body went still.

From: Anna Verneau (Dior)
Subject: Hollywood Offer + Fashion Documentary Discussion

Ling blinked. Hollywood?

Orm, who had been mid-sip of her iced coffee, caught the subtle shift in Ling’s expression. She nudged her wife gently. “Hey, what’s up?”

Ling hesitated for a beat before tilting her phone so Orm could see the email. “I… I just got an offer.”

Orm raised an eyebrow. “An offer for what?”

Ling exhaled, gripping her phone a little tighter. “It’s not just modeling. It’s a film project—a documentary-slash-feature about my journey in the fashion industry and what it means to be an Asian global model.” She paused, swallowing. “Dior is collaborating on it, and the director believes I have the potential to do more—act, not just model.”

Orm’s brows lifted. “Wait… are you saying—”

Ling nodded, heart pounding. “It comes with a Hollywood contract.”

Silence.

Orm stared at her, blinking as she processed the weight of those words. “Wait, like… actual Hollywood?”

Ling gave a small, hesitant nod. “Yeah. They want me to explore acting beyond fashion. If this goes well, it could open doors to more international roles.”

Orm exhaled, her fingers drumming lightly against the table. “Wow.”

Ling licked her lips. “But there’s more. If I take it… I’d have to spend months in the U.S.”

The weight of reality settled between them. Their honeymoon phase was still fresh, their shared home still new and filled with love. And yet, life—their careers—were already threatening to pull them in opposite directions.

Orm sat back, running a hand through her hair. “That’s huge, Ling.”

Ling studied her wife’s face, searching. “What do you think?”

Orm looked up, meeting Ling’s gaze with something unreadable in her eyes. There was no hesitation, no resentment, just quiet understanding. And love. So much love.

“I think…” Orm reached for Ling’s hand, squeezing gently. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You have to go for it.”

Ling’s heart clenched. “Are you sure? You just signed onto Eclipsed Fate. You’ll be filming for months. And now this? I don’t want us to be apart like this.”

Orm nodded, her grip tightening slightly. “I mean, yeah, it sucks. I’d be lying if I said I wanted to spend nights alone in our bed. But we’ve been through worse, baby. And I know how much this means to you.”

Ling let out a shaky breath, brushing her thumb over Orm’s knuckles. “I don’t want to leave you.”

Orm leaned in, their foreheads touching, her voice gentle but firm. “You’re not leaving me. You’re chasing your dreams, just like I am.”

Ling bit her lip. “We’re going to be so busy. What if—”

Orm silenced her with a kiss. Deep, slow, reassuring. The kind that said, We’re going to be okay. I believe in us.

Ling melted into it, letting herself believe it, too.

Because if their love had survived everything before—distance, heartbreak, time—it would survive this, too.

As the weeks passed, their schedules grew more demanding.

Orm was deep in rehearsals for Eclipsed Fate, spending long nights on set, memorizing difficult lines, and perfecting action sequences. She barely had time to sleep, let alone spend long nights wrapped around Ling like she wanted.

Ling, on the other hand, was splitting her time between modeling campaigns and preparing for the Hollywood contract. Meetings, fittings, script readings—it was a whirlwind.

They tried to make time for each other, but the nights grew shorter, the days more chaotic.

Some days, Orm would come home past midnight, exhausted, only to find Ling already asleep, curled up on her side of the bed. Other times, Ling would wake up at dawn to find Orm still in bed but too tired to even open her eyes.

And then, the inevitable happened—Orm’s press tour for Eclipsed Fate aligned exactly with Ling’s flight to L.A.

Their goodbye came too soon.

At the airport, Ling stood in front of the security gates, her heart heavy. Orm, dressed casually in a hoodie and sunglasses, had both hands gripping Ling’s waist, refusing to let go.

“I hate this,” Orm muttered.

Ling cupped her cheek. “Me too, baby.”

Orm sighed. “How long until we see each other again?”

Ling bit her lip. “Maybe a month?”

Orm groaned, burying her face in Ling’s neck. “That’s forever.”

Ling chuckled softly. “It’ll pass before you know it.”

Orm grumbled, but she knew they had no choice.

“Text me every day,” Ling whispered.

“Only if you do too,” Orm replied.

Ling nodded, pressing one last lingering kiss to Orm’s lips. “I love you.”

Orm hugged her tighter. “I love you more.”

As Ling walked through the security gates, Orm watched her go, an ache settling deep in her chest.

They were still each other’s home. Even if, for now, they were miles apart.
