“Yeah, if you two could stop being so damn cute for five minutes that would be great,” my best friend Hanna complained.
“Sorry, what?” I asked, looking over at Hanna confused.
“You and Melissa?” Hanna pointed out. I smiled at my girlfriend's name.
“Please stop, it’s getting gross,” Spencer complained, annoyed.
“I’m sorry, I can’t help it. I’m in love,” I smiled looking back over at Melissa, who smiled back over at me.
“Aww,” Aria and Hanna teased while Spencer faked throwing up.
“I wonder who the bouquet of roses are for?” Hanna questioned, bringing our attention to the guy in the cafeteria holding a bouquet of roses. I smiled briefly before hiding it, wanting it to remain a mystery for a little bit. We watched as the guy looked around before his eyes landed on Melissa.
“Oh-oh,” Aria said with concern when she saw the direction he was headed.
“Looks like someone’s coming for your girl there Emily,” Hanna warned, bringing my attention to the guy handing Melissa the flowers. Melissa looked at the guy awkwardly while also looking over at me. I watched as Melissa opened the card before starting to giggle. Melissa then stood up and ran in my direction. Standing up and opening my arms, Melissa immediately jumped into them. With Melissa’s legs wrapped around my waist, I held Melissa in my arms as she leant in and kissed me on the lips in front of everyone.
“You are a dork, I hope you know that,” Melissa said.
“Your dork, though.”
“And let’s keep it that way, babe,” Melissa stated and then kissed me on the lips again.
“Please can you guys take this somewhere else,” Spencer said with her hand over her eyes.
“Spoil sport,” Hanna said, smacking Spencer’s shoulder.
“I second that,” Melissa teased.
I smiled at Melissa before finally saying “Happy Valentine's Day Melissa.”
“Happy Valentine's Day Emily,” Melissa replied with the biggest grin on her face that I had ever seen. Melissa eventually got down and we just stood there happily hugging each other.
Hanna then asked “Hey Emily, can you teach our boyfriends to be this romantic?” She gestured at herself, Aria and Spencer.
“I don’t know if that’s something you can teach,” I honestly replied. But it did make Melissa laugh before looking at me as if I hang the moon and I couldn’t blame her cause that’s how I looked at her. But in Melissa's case, she literally did hang the moon. She was the bright star and spark in my life. And I never wanted Melissa to feel like she wasn’t anything more than the most important person in my life. Just because we were dating, didn’t automatically mean Melissa was always my valentine, you always should ask or celebrate. I would never, ever take Melissa for granted, especially when she is my everything.
The End.
