Kanade Went Back To School (Miyajou Ver.)

Kanade opened her eyes, greeted by her room’s ceiling. After sleeping for a long time she feels her body more relaxed, her eyes feel light. Looking at the window, golden rays of the sun streamed through her room. It's probably already afternoon by now.

The memory of her talk with her grandmother that morning still lingered freshly in her mind. Even she herself was still surprised, she actually agreed with the idea of going back to school. Well it's already too late to regret—nor that she actually regretted it.

The thought of going to Miyajou appeared in her mind. If she really going to attend there from now on, then she could probably understand Mafuyu more, and help her to find her true self. Not only that, she could also get closer with some of her acquaintance like Hoshino-san, Hanasato-san, even Mochizuki-san. How would Mochizuki-san react, if she know im going to Miyajou?—she will probably find that out in near future.

She looked at the phone that sat iddly beside her, come to think of it, she remembered the last text she sent before went back to sleep. Opening her phone she saw a lot of notification—mostly from Niigo in Nightcord. She notice there were no notification from her grandmother—probably still in the process of registering her to Miyajou. She then opening nightcord and saw the replies of her last text.

Looking at the replies Kanade smiled, she glad day are excited about it. She went to her computer to reply—because she’s bad at using phone’s keyboard. She turned on her computer and opened Nightcord, moving her fingers on the keyboard and start typing

Kanade happy with how supportive her friends are, she couldn't ask a better friend than them. Happy she immediately replied to the idea with accepted it with open arm

Mafuyu didn't replied, but it's probably because she went back focused on her class, right now is still afternoon and Mafuyu would be having a class right no, it’s already good enough that she taking the time to reply to them, it would better for them to not disturb her more. 

Still Kanade feels glad for their help, she will make sure that the test going to went well. I wonder if there's anything I could do for them—Kanade thought. Somewhere in back of her mind still covered in guilt and demand her to stop this. But well there’s no time for that, she already made her decision and she will commit to it till the end.

Not so long after that a notification from her grandmother pop up on her phone, confirmed the existence of the entrance test that she just talked with her friends.

⟨Kanade, my dear granddaughter, the school staff told me there would be an entrance test if you want to enroll to Miyajou, you think you can do it? Or do you want an option for another school?⟩

Kanade Immediately replied

⟨It’s ok grandma, I will take the test, my friends also said they will help me study, so nothing to worry about⟩

Not so long after that her grandmother replied

⟨I see, that’s nice. Then I hope you could do the test Kanade, for the detail, the test would be held next week, so you need to prepare yourself⟩

Well that sooner than she expected, Kanade hope studying with Niigo is enough, she have yet to open the materials Mafuyu send, she hope it's not too different with her correspondence school’s. 

Before forget, she replied to her grandmother by sending a stickers with some text on it, before then check the materials Mafuyu send. Miyajou’s materials that Mafuyu send are the maths, japanese, english, and science materials. Searching through it one by one, she relieved that it's not that different with her correspondence school one, she hoped she could do well on it. She then try to do some of the question before then went back composing as usual.

She couldn't stop composing, she will continue her studies night later with Niigo, she then proceed to drown herself in composing.

Later that night, Niigo gathered for their daily meeting in Nightcord. As usual, they discussed and worked on their latest projects, also with the usual bickering of Enanan and Amia. However, the conversation soon shifted to the hottest topic that had been circulating around recently.

“Good work everyone, thanks for you guys' work,” K said, end the work for today, followed by replies from the other one by one, before then Amia started to talk excitedly, “Now then, should we head to SEKAI?”

They all simultaneously agree and start to play the Composing The Future file on their device. The moment they start to play it, colorful prisms emerge from it surrounding them, before transporting them into different place altogether.

The moment they opened their eyes, they were greeted with a familiar dead world containing hardly anything in it. There are a few dim rays of light, broken stage equipment, fallen stage truss, and pyramids that are cold to the touch. This is Empty SEKAI, a world that was born from Mafuyu’s feeling, they already familiar with it and have been around this place for a while. Then they start to search for each other.

“OIII EVERYONE, COME HERE!” A shout from a girl with pink hair that tied into ponytail could be heard

The others search for the source of the voice. When they found the girl they saw that she was accompanied by two person, a girl with white dress, heterochromatic eyes, and white hair that tied into high twintails, while the other was a woman with loose long pink hair. They both looked interested in what the girls were going to do.

“Everyone, welcome, it's nice to see you guys here” A robotic voice came from the white haired girl welcoming them.

“A..Miku, it's also nice to see you and Luka here” replied Kanade to the white haired girl, Miku. Another robotic voice could be heard, this time came from the pink haired woman, “Oh, it's good to see you guys doing well, what's the occasion coming here? New demo you wanted to show us Kanade?” The pink haired woman said playfully with her hand on her chin.

“Ah…No. Today we’re doing something different,” replied Kanade that made Luka curious.

“Eh~,what is it then?” Asked Luka. Before Kanade could reply, Mizuki already spoke.

“Kanade is going back to school! Can you guys believe it?” Mizuki exclaimed, practically buzzing with excitement. “We’re here to help her crush the entrance test!”

Both Miku and Luka looked surprised, before turning their expression into smiles, smiles of proud and gladness. They both also feel happy with the information. Then Miku started speaking, “Is it true…Kanade?”

“Ah..Yes” The girl replied as she nodded her head. Followed by chuckles from the pink haired woman,”Eh~ so it's like that, hmm then that's nice to hear Kanade, a change in pace,” followed by Miku “Uhm, That’s nice Kanade.”

Kanade could only react to them with a smile, she was glad they also feel happy with the announcement. After announcing the news to Miku and Luka, the girls back into the main topic, to help Kanade study for the entrance test, Yuki start the conversation asking K whether or not she already checked the materials she sent. 

“Kanade, did you already check the material I send?” The purple haired girl asked.

“Ah yes…I’ve checked it,” replied the silver haired girl.

“Did you encounter any problem?” Mafuyu asked Kanade again

“I don't think I have yet encountered any problem…except probably some hard equation…” Replied Kanade

“Don't worry Kanade, after studying together you sure could do them with no ease,” cheered Ena. Before then Mizuki starts speaking,”When is the test going to be held?”

“Uhh…my grandmother said it was next week,” Replied the girl, immediately getting an excited reply from the pink-haired girl,”That’s nice, then we have a week to prepare for it then.”

“Should we start?” Said the purple-haired girl, who have been silent the whole time

“Umm”(yes) Kanade nodded to her.

They all sat down on the cold floor as Mafuyu sent the study materials to everyone. Mizuki offer the snack she bought if anyone hungry. Just glancing at the dense content from Miyajou materials was enough to make Ena's head spin, prompting Mizuki to tease her with a mischievous grin. They began reviewing the materials one by one, occasionally quizzing Kanade to test her knowledge. The Virtual Singers usually observed with warm smiles or asked curious questions about the topics.  

The routine continued for a week leading up to the entrance test. Sometimes Miku watched attentively, other times Len shyly asked if he could join. On some occasions, the other Virtual Singers would pop in, while sometimes none of them appeared at all. Kanade also visit her father at the hospital, but that week he’s not awake, she silently told him about the fact she’s going back to school and hope her father happy with that information.

It's been almost a week since they studied together in SEKAI after their work in Nightcord. It’s the last day before the test is held. At first they thought it would be hard to teach Kanade because she’s—soon going to be used to—attend correspondence school. It’s really surprising that Kanade could easily keep up with Miyajou’s materials, even teaching Ena with her knowledge. The only thing they—Mafuyu and Mizuki— teached to Kanade are the fast tricks on math or some trivial information in other subjects. What was supposed to be Kanade's study session had essentially turned into more like Ena's remedial class. Ena couldn't keep up with Miyajou's materials, which Mizuki mischievously teased her with things like,”Oh~is this too hard for Ena~” Ena shot her a glare, grumbling under her breath, "Shut up!" as the group continued their study session with a mix of focus and laughter.

“Good job today everyone,” Said Mizuki , followed by the others after finishing today’s and the last study session, before Kanade later that day needed to take the entrance test. They sat for a while before Kanade started speaking,”Everyone…I’m really thankful for your guys help this whole week” Kanade bowed thankfully to all her friends.

“Don't mention it, Kanade, you’ve always been helping us all the time, this is the least we could do to repay it,” said the brunette girl, assuring Kanade.

“Yes it's, also it’s easy to teach you, you even already know the basic, we only tell you about the tricks, it's nothing much” Said Mizuki before then mischievously grin,”Unlike teaching someone~”

“Oh shut up mizuki!” Said Ena, annoyed by Mizuki, before the pink haired girl continued to tease her,”Oh I don't even say your name Ena~” and the conversation turned into their usual bickering.

Mafuyu, who had been quietly observing the entire time, finally spoke up. "I'm surprised you’ve been keeping up with the materials so well, Kanade. Is it similar to what you study in your correspondence school?"

"Uhm, yeah... it's quite similar," the silver-haired girl replied softly, her voice humble as always.

The pink-haired girl tilted her head, curiosity evident in her expression. "I thought because you took correspondence school so you could focus on composing, you wouldn't be this focused on school stuff, Kanade.”

The silver-haired girl replied to the assumption,”Well…The thing that correspondence school cares the most is just finished all the assignments. Usually I only studied the materials so I could finish the assignment quickly and went back to composing immediately.”

"Well, that's such a Kanade-like reason, isn't it?" Ena said with a smile, earning nods of agreement from everyone.

"The test is today, right? Crush it, Kanade! I totally believe you can do it!" Mizuki cheered enthusiastically, her energy contagious.

“You've got this, Kanade! Show them how it's done!" Ena said with an energetic fist pump.

“You can do this Kanade,” Mafuyu said monotonous but encouraging, a little smile could be seen on her face.

“I would…I hoped, but thanks everyone, thank you for the support all this time” Kanade replied, thanking their support.

Before they left SEKAI, the Virtual Singers approached them one by one, offering words of encouragement to Kanade. Their heartfelt support brought a faint but genuine smile to her face. "Thank you... for everything," Kanade said softly, her gratitude sincere.  

With those parting words, she then stop Composing The Future and left SEKAI. Today was the day—the day Kanade would take the entrance test, a moment that could change the course of her life. 

Back to her room, Kanade checked it's still 4 o’clock in the morning. Looking at the newest information she got, there are still 5 hours before the test. She decided to take a quick nap so she could freshen herself before taking the test.

She wake up, and immediately checked the clock. It’s already 7 o’clock in the morning 2 more hours before the test. Looking at her phone for GPS. it seems like Miyajou aren't that far from her house. It would only take a few minutes by walking. She then got up from her bed and started getting dressed. She slipped into her usual attire for occasions when she needed to go to school—white t-shirt, topped with a cozy gray sweater.

She then walked to her front door. Opening it she was greeted by the glittering rays of the sun. Its too bright—she thought, but if she want to go back to school then she need to get used to it from now on. It took several minutes for her to reach Miyajou. When she got there, she then ask Mafuyu about where the room that she got told where the test going to be held. After getting answer from Mafuyu, she then proceed to went inside and searched for the room. At that time, the hallway was empty, as the classes had already started.

She found the room she searched and met with the teacher there. Inside, there were a few other students who were also on their way to take the test. The teacher then talk about the rules like no cheating, no talking, etc. and then give them the test paper. 

The test was surprisingly easy—because she already got teached by Mafuyu and Mizuki—But, it’s also easier than the materials Mafuyu sent, now she only need to wait for the announcement whether she’s accepted or not. The teacher said that they will be informed by text message so they can go home now. Kanade took no time to go home.

Back at her house, she immediately went to her room, the first thing she do is of course composing. There are some notification from Niigo, asking her how was the test. She replied with, that she glad the test weren't that hard, which got a relieving relied by the others. She then went back focusing on her music—because, just because she went back to school doesn't mean she should forget her promise to her father. Before then she received a notification from Miyajou.

Seeing the announcement made Kanade happy and glad she finally officially accepted. She forward the information to Niigo and her grandmother. Which also made them feel glad and happy, and the congratulate her for that. Mizuki even said that they need to make a celebration tomorrow in SEKAI after Kanade got her new uniform, which Kanade agreed to.

Based from the text they sent, it seems like she needs to went back to Miyajou to get her new uniform tomorrow. 

The next day, she went back to Miyajou. There she meet with the teacher that congratulate her for her acceptance, and told her to do her best at school and not let the school name down. She then directed to room where she’s going to measured. She was greeted by the woman who’s going to measured her, as she spoke,”You must be Yoisaki Kanade right? Welcome to Miyamasuzaka Girl's Academy, I hope you could find this school comfortable for you. please read the note about the Uniform Regulation ok?” and then the woman measure her. She told Kanade how cute she looks and remind her of “a certain pink haired 1st year girl”. 

As they speak she told Kanade about the dress code, like the allowed colour of sweeter or jacket—which they only allowed her to wear her gray jacket, not the blue one. After the woman finished measuring her, she then give Kanade the gray-sailor uniform that would fit her, and then they bid a farewell to each other, as the woman said that she would love to see Kanade around.

Later that night, as what they’ve talked about, Niigo are going to have a celebration in SEKAI. Mizuki’ve beg Kanade to wear the new uniform she got. Kanade then wear the gray colored sailor uniform she just got, and enter the SEKAI by playing the Composing The Future. Inside she was greeted by her friends adn the virtual singers who’ve been waiting for her to come.

“She’s here, she’s here, Kanade Welcome to the celebration” Said Mizuki before then compliment Kanade,”Woah, you look 100% cuter in that uniform,” Before then followed by Ena,”Yeah it really suit you Kanade” complimenting Kanade even more

“Thanks Mizuki…Ena” Thanked the silver-haired girl. Mafuyu seems to be silent, before Ena glare at her, annoyed and said,”Don't you have something to say to Kanade, Mafuyu?”

Mafuyu looking at Ena then moving hiser gaze to Kanade,”You uniform fit the rule, Kanade,” Ena who’s not satisfied by Mafuyu’s result tell her to atleast say more than that, which then Mafuyu continue,”It's looks good on you, Kanade”

Kanade laugh a bit,”Thanks…Mafuyu” then thanking Mafuyu for the compliment.

The Virtual Singers also compliment her uniform, which Kanade also replied with smile and thanks. After that they all congratulate Kanade for her acceptance to Miyajou and hope the best for her. Luka asked Kanade whether she will still compose a music like she usually do or not, which Kanade replied she will find a way to optimized her time and probably use weekend more, so she could still compose like usual—because she still need to do it. After that they had a lightsnack and talk, loke how they tease Mafuyu would be happy seeing Kanade all the time, teasing Ena about her grade based on their previous talk, Assuring Kanade she will had a great time in Miyajou, etc. After that they all when back, and sleep for the night.

Saturday, Kanade wake up and start composing for a new song. Knowing that her time for composing going to be decreased on weekday, she’s going to maximize her time on composing on weekend. Some part of her, still feel guilty about being happy right now, some part of her still feel she should’ve focused on composing, she doesn't deserve the happiness she’s having right now, while her father condition aren't getting better, all she could do to make it up now, is to optimized her time for composing.

While in middle of composing, she heard a doorbell, probably from Honami. She then went to her frontdoor and greeted Honami, as always Honami asked Kanade where she need to clean up this week. Kanade told her to just clean the usual, before then went back to her room composing.

While composing again, she heard a knock from Honami in front of her room’s door, as Honami spoke 

“Yoisaki-san, can I come in?” Honami asked permission to enter

“Oh…yes you can Mochizuki-san” then Honami entered Kanade’s “room, she held the Gray Miyajou uniform that Kanade just got, Kanade Immediately know what are going to ask her.

“Umm…is there any problem Mochizuki-San?...do you want to ask about that uniform?” Kanade asked her, which Honami replied carefully, so she doesn't ask anything that supposed to be inappropriate,”Umm, Yoisaki-san, I dont mean to pry on the matter, but who’s uniform is this? I know Yoisaki-san aren't going to Miyajou afterall, im just a little curious, but if you don't want to tell it's ok” Said Honami, she doesnt want to forced Kanade to reply if she doesn't want

Kanade then replied,”It’s ok Mochizuki-san, I will tell you, actually-” Kanade then tell the story about she’s going to transfer to Miyajou next week, she told her maybe change in pace could help her composing, and how it start with her grandmother request. Hearing that made Honami feel surprised, “Ee! Yoisaki-san going to Miyajou?” Before then continue wondering,” what now, umm, should I call Yoisaki-san, Yoisaki-Senpai from now on?”

“I don't you need to do that Mochizuki-san” Kanade replied before then realizing,”Ah but…maybe at school you should call me that…I don't want the other see you as disrespectful…but outside school like her just call me whatever you feel comfortable Mochizuki-san”

“Thank you then Yoisaki-san, I will probably still call you Yoisaki-san outside school,” Honami said, before then continue,”Ah Ichika-chan will probably happy hearing this information” as Honami said that, Kanade had an idea, “Umm…Mochizuki-san…will it be ok if you keep it a secret for a while, I think it would be better as a surprise”

“Ok then, I will keep silent about this, anyway congratulations Yoisaki-san” said Honami, congratulate Kanade for her acceptance—Kanade already lose count how many person that already congratulate her. Then Honami went back to work, cooked and cleaned for Kanade before then bid a farewell ending her shift.

Kanade then went back to work, before then get a rest when she’s tired. In her rest, she thought about how things will be different from now on, she just hoped she could keep her promise to her dad. Some part of her still questioning whether she deserves this kind of happiness, but it's already too late to regert anyway, monday will be a different day in her life after years not going to school. Wearing the uniform remind her the last time she went to school. She hoped everythingbis going to be ok, before then close her eyes, resting a bit.
