Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived, let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
Around him the world seemed to slow down as he a took in his surroundings, the Ministry was in shambles and in the Atruim where the fight took place the bound and stunned bodies of virtually every death eater in attendance were laying for the press to oogle. Harry didn't take notice of any of this however with the prophecy hanging above him and the sneering face of a bound Tom Riddle looking up at him he was quite distracted as it was.
Hermione, the constant presence beside him and unending source of comfort she was, was already beside him when she noticed his dazed expression.
"You know what needs to be done don't you?" She said in a soft tone that betrayed the worry she was feeling
"I do" Harry whispered almost inaudibly "I do and I don't like it Mione, Dumbledore told me that we need to let go of past vendettas and see that revenge doesn't get in the way of justice but the prophecy just trashed that whole outlook"
Harry turned to look at Hermione holding an expression of deep sorrow
"Once I do this I'll be just like him, you know, the same kind of coldblooded murderer that took my parents from me."
At this point Hermione's eyebrows had almost achieved orbit and with an incredulous expression and a raised eyebrow she fired back
"Honestly Harry, do you think vets that euthanize rabid animals see themselves as murderers? do you really think that by putting down a rabid animal like Voldemort you become just like him? Harry if you think for a second that putting that thing down makes you any less good of a person or that it makes you in any way similar to that monster I will drag your mother back to this plain so we can smack some sense into you together!" she huffed, the echo of the reprimand bounced around the Atrium as Harry let the words sink into his mind "If you can't manage it yourself because that old goat instilled illogical and backwards philosiphies into your brain then i'll just have to do it for you, for all I respect that man I've come to suspect he has a few screws loose if he knew all this time about the prophecy and never thought to teach you a thing"
Harry watched as his girlfriend of 3 years imperiously marched up to the single most dangerous dark lord since Grindlewald and with a flash of green remove him from the world, turning around to face harry with a grin splitting her face she cupped his face in her hands and pulled him until the were inches apart
"Now, Harry, according to the prophecy now that the only major hurdle is out of the way what do say to living a little?"
From that day forward to the day he died The Boy Who Lived would never forget the mischevious smirk on his girlfriend's face as he was dragged to the nearest empty office as the fact that he was finally free dawned on him for the first time that night.
