Summary
Regulus Black has narcolepsy. James doesn’t realize cause he’s an idiot.
Note
This is just a short little Drabble I made cause I was bored. I really like the idea of Regulus Black with Narcolepsy and James being oblivious. This is just a little fluffy one shot of that. Ignore the fact that I’m sure the magical world doesn’t know about narcolepsy and probably has some sort of cure for it lol. Enjoy!

Chapter 1

James was always fascinated by his best friend Sirius’ little brother Regulus. Regulus could be quiet and soft spoken but at times he could lash out the most explosive chain of curse words and go straight for the kill. He was super sweet when he wanted to be though. He was also extremely smart, and despite being a year below James and Sirius, he knew more than they did when it came to it.

Another thing about Regulus was that he was mindblowingly pretty. His dark curly hair and gray eyes were striking against his pale complexion and splatter of freckles on his nose. He had an elegance to him that had James in a chokehold.

James has had a crush on Regulus for a year now, and while he’s sure he’s made him blush on multiple occasions, he doesn’t want to upset Sirius or make Regulus uncomfortable.

So James is content (for now) to hang out with regulus and hear his beautiful laugh and make him smile.

One thing he’s noticed about Regulus is he sleeps, a lot. When James will look over to him in the great hall, half the time he’s sleeping next to his plate. He also always finds him napping in random corners of the castle and it’s always adorable to see him cuddled up on a window sill.

Regulus will also drift off while they’re hanging out. At first, James thought he was boring him. But then he asked Padfoot about it, and turns out he’s like that with everyone.

James knew most people didn’t sleep this much, but he didn’t realize how much of an issue it was for Regulus.

Today, James and Regulus were patrolling the halls on their prefect duties and Regulus was laughing after James had made a crude joke. James smiled over at him, but then he was confused cause Reg’s eyes were closing and he looked like he was passing out.

Regulus starting to fall over, but James caught him.

“Hey, Reg, what happened?”

Regulus blinked up lazily and smiled at him before slumping over again.

Luckily, James had his mirror to contact Sirius in his pocket, so he got it out.

“Pads. Sirius. Padfoot. Hellooooooo” James spoke into the mirror.

“Hm? James? What’s up,” Sirius asked as he came into view on the mirror.

“Pads your brother just basically passed out on me when we on our prefect duties, is he like okay? Do I need to take him to Madam Pomfrey?”

James showed Sirius how he was holding up Regulus’ practically limp body.

“Oh, no he’s fine James. You didn’t know? Regulus has narcolepsy, he could fall asleep literally anywhere at anytime. Just bring him up to our dorm if you can’t wake him up,” Sirius answered.

“Oh shit. How did I not know that. Okay, I will pads. Thank you, that makes so much sense.”

Sirius said bye and James shifted to carrying Regulus bridal style and turned towards Gryffindor tower. He got a few weird looks when he went through the common room, but other than that he made it to their dorm easily, with Regulus still sound asleep.

“Merlin, he’s out. Just lay him in a bed, he’ll wake up eventually,” Sirius said when he saw them.

“Alright.”

James laid Regulus in his bed, but when he did Reg opened his eyes and looked up at him. He looked so soft.

“Cuddle with me Jamie, please,” he nearly whined, in his adorable sleepy voice. He promptly closed his eyes and went right back to sleep, with his hand clasping at James sleeve.

Sirius choked out a laugh.

“Go on then, don’t want to upset little Reggie, he gets grumpy even though he sleeps so bloody much.”

So James got in bed with him, and wrapped his arms around the smaller boy. He could’ve sworn he saw a small smile form on Regulus’ face, but James was too happy to notice.
