The cafe was full, it always was but since they became famous, there were people who stood at the back and Rosmerta, the owner, would occasionally push tables closer together to provide more standing space for the band's die-hard fans. The stage was already set for small artist to perform during the cafe hours and bands to play during the pub hours- The Marauders had played during both hours when they were a small band at the ages of sixteen to eighteen before Dumbledore had heard them play one night while he was drinking a bourbon and decided to give the newly left students a chance by offering them a record deal.
Screaming was echoing into the back room where the boys were eating the cakes Rosmerta had put out for them to eat. James was tapping on the table due to his nerves, chewing on his lip before Regulus scolded him before he chewed his lip raw, which he had an awful habit of doing. Sirius was humming to the beat, glaring at James when the beat was something he couldn't hum to and trying to figure out how he can hum to the uncoordinated beat. Peter had caught on to what James and Sirius was doing, playing his guitar to the beat before the three had some random song playing.
"What's this song you're playing?" Lily asked, moving her head from staring out the door at the crowd.
"Not a clue." James responded, still drumming on the table. "Just randomly made it up."
"It's catchy." Lily laughed, closing the door.
"I'll turn it into a song." He smiled, nodding his head.
"No!" Shouted Regulus and Sirius, making everyone laugh.
"Five minutes." Rosmerta said, walking in and handing Remus his tea that he always drank before going on stage. "It's absolutely packed out there, boys, Hagrid is trying to keep the girls off the stage. Oh, bless him, I'm going to have to pay him extra after today." She says, making Sirius poke his head out the door from behind Lily, using her as a shield.
"He's wearing the security jacket I gave him as a joke," Sirius laugh, watching Hagrid hold off the girls, telling them to move back. "Oh, I do love him." He smiles, moving away.
"Think we can borrow him for the tour, he's the only one who knows how to control the crowd." Peter laughs, tuning his guitar some more.
"Hagrid is mine." Rosmerta tells him with a glare. "He's the only one who can make the cakes just perfectly."
"I'm going to miss these gigs," Sirius sighed, dropping into his chair. "Can we go back to being sixteen and just singing covers of songs rather than having to write a new song every week?" He grumbled, throwing his head back to look at Remus.
"Slughorn stressing you out?" Remus asked with a laugh, making Sirius roll his eyes. "Oh relax, we can do small cafe gigs during the tour if you're that desperate." He says, leaning down to kiss Sirius upside down.
"They'll be worse than the crowd out there, Re, we sold out on tickets less than twenty-four hours since they went on sale. Slughorn said that next tour, we'll have to rent bigger stadiums, I thought the ones we rented were already big enough." Sirius grumbled, leaning over to face Remus properly.
"We're touring round Europe, no one does that unless they're popular, known bands or artists." James says, picking up his drumsticks to twirl one round his fingers. "We had a queue out the door before we got our record deal, even had so many views on YouTube when we were sixteen."
"It's because I'm hot, Jamie," Sirius said, sticking his tongue out at him. "Had all the girls drooling."
"Was the biggest let down when they all found out you were gay." Remus said, finishing his tea.
"They still love me." Sirius says, smiling. "They'll always love me."
"It's Remus they love, half of them physically swoon when he starts singing." Peter laughs, jumping off the counter where he was sat. "I think they all cried when they found out you two were together, so many tweets talking about the heartbreak they felt when 'one of the lead singers of The Marauders, Remus "Moony" Lupin, was in a committed, monogamous relationship with Sirius "Padfoot" Black'." He teased, laughing some more.
"Those tweets were the death of me," Lily commented, posting on all their social media accounts about today's gig. "I was trying to reply to them all but a new one came in practically every second, I think I replied to a quarter of them at best. There's still some till this day." She says, chewing on her pen.
"I don't even have my notifications on anymore, Sirius threated to throw my phone after two minutes of constant pinging." Remus said, shaking his head.
"We were in the middle of sex; it was such a turn-off hearing the phone go off and it's girls crying over the fact you were taken." Sirius grumbles, eating one of the cakes on the stand.
"Calm down, Padfoot," James said, kicking his foot jokingly. "You've been together for six years; he would have left you by now if he wanted to be with one of the fans." He said, leaning into Regulus who was sat on the counter, making himself comfortable between his legs.
They all fell quiet, listening to the chanting of "The Marauders", hearing some girls shouting out a mixture of their first names and nicknames as well with hints of admiration. Rosmerta had the speakers on to play music while they waited which was barely heard through the shouting of fans, which sounded like just pure screaming of excitement. Lily poked her head out the door again, clearly aiming to get a post for the Instagram story before quickly closing the door which helped silenced the noise. When she posted it, there were more screams clearly from the notification coming through on their phones, the girls closer to the doors screaming the loudest for "making it on their Instagram story".
"Boys, start posting on your stories." She said, tapping her pen on her lip. "We have a little over a minute till you go out there." She said, putting the pen in her mouth. "That means you too, Regulus." She said to him, mumbling because of the pen, making him grunt.
They all pulled out their phones, taking turns of filming each other rather than going at the same time. Sirius would get a picture with Remus while Regulus took one of James with Peter taking a picture of himself with them in the background because it was how the routine would go. Remus would just record everyone while they posted, and James was always with him kissing Sirius which they would joke about being their "good luck charm" and would do it every concert or gig- his favourite part was captioning it "oops, wrong brother". Lily began reposting them on the main Instagram before posting the final one of them getting ready to leave the back room with the countdown, each doing a different expression- James doing antlers with his hands, Peter making a heart before blowing a kiss, Sirius doing paw gestures with his tongue out and Remus doing a peace sign with a wink. Rosmerta wished them luck before opening the door and gesturing them out with the crowd roaring with louder cheers as the four stepped on the stage.
"Hi, my loves." Sirius greeted, breathing down the microphone. "I do hope you've been enjoying the tea, coffee, cappuccinos, I do love the cappuccinos, maybe some cakes. Make Rosmerta rich, she's been putting up with us since we were sixteen." He laughed, adjusting the microphone as Remus did the same.
"Rosmerta, quick, get more cappuccinos in stock before intermission, Sirius has made you run out before you've even sold any." Remus laughed, making Sirius roll his eyes and flip him off.
"Ladies, Remus drinks tea with honey." Sirius says, making James roar with laughter. Some girls screamed, clearly hinting that that is what they also drink. "Well, if you were hoping for some originals, you're not in luck since we're saving them all for the tour and we've missed singing covers in small cafes." He says, giving the crowd a smile. "If you want to recommend any for after intermission, buy a drink or a cake, or both and at the counter is a sheet and we'll go through and pick out our favourites."
"Or the ones we know, we don't know many modern songs so forgive us for not singing those." Remus laughed as Sirius nodded.
James began playing a quiet beat on the drums, hinting to Sirius and Remus to stop chatting with the crowd and get on with singing their song list. Sirius began humming as Peter waited for his cue to start playing the beat on his guitar. Remus had a habit of tapping his foot to wait for his own cue. Most of the fans began to cheer in recollection of the song.
"Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my ma and pa. Not that way that I do love you." Remus began, his head tilted to Sirius who smiled at him.
"Well, holy moly, me oh my, you're the apple of my eye. Boy, I've never loved one like you." Sirius followed before biting his lips which had girls drooling.
"Man, oh man, you're my best friend, I scream into the nothingness. There ain't nothing that I need." Remus had his hand on the microphone, leaning into it like he always would.
"Well, hot and heavy, pumpkin pie, chocolate candy, Jesus Christ. Ain't nothing please me more than you." Sirius winked, dampening his lips
"Oh, home, let me come home, home is wherever I'm with you. Oh, home, let me come home, home is wherever I'm with you." They both sang, still looking at each other before breaking eye contact during the instrumental. "La, la, la, la, take me home. Mother, I'm coming home."
Sirius started up with the humming again, looking at Remus through the corner of his eye as he pushed his curls out from his face before turning to face Sirius again. "I'll follow you into the park, through the jungle, through the dark. Boy, I never loved one like you." He picked up again, almost blushing at the way Remus watched him.
"Moats and boats and waterfalls, alleyways and pay phone calls. I've been everywhere with you." Remus sang breathlessly into the mic.
"That's true." Sirius said, almost laughing out the words. "Laugh until we think we'll die," He sang, Remus singing "we'll die" with him. "Barefoot on a summer night." He continued, Remus once again singing "summer night" with him, making all the girls scream and swoon. "Never could be sweeter than with you."
"And in the streets you run a-free, like it's only you and me." Remus sang, pulling the mic closer to him.
"Geez, you're something to see." They both sang, breathing out the words in the way they know make the girls shout and cheer. "Oh, home, let me come home, home is wherever I'm with you. Oh, home, let me come home, home is wherever I'm with you."
The instrumental took up again, the cheering being heard as girls grabbed onto their friends and swooned into them, some dancing and others waiting to start singing along with them again. Some shouting "We love you Sirius/Remus/James" and the small group in the corner where Peter was, shouting just about over the music about how much they love him and just on the urge of tears when he smiles and blushes back at them.
"La, la, la, la, take me home. Daddy, I'm coming home." Remus and Sirius sang before Peter's guitar took over, making the girls all huddle round each other to keep themselves up and being so happy that Peter's instrument wasn't being distracted by James' drums.
"Remus," Sirius began, making the boy roll his eyes because he knew what was coming.
"Yes, Sirius?" He replied, turning his body round to face his boyfriend.
"Do you remember when you fell of the back wall outside James' house?" Sirius smirked, biting his lip.
"I do, you came jumping over to help me." Remus replied with an eye roll as Sirius laughed.
"Well, I landed funny, broke my wrist doing that," He said as Remus nodded, still unimpressed over it as he was the day it happened. "Cried all over the place and you shoved me in the back of your car to drive me to the hospital, you remember that?"
"Yes, I do." Remus replied, making Sirius smile.
"Well, there's something I never told you about that night."
"Yeah? What didn't you tell me?"
"While you were speeding down the road, chain smoking every cigarette you and I owned, I was falling deep, deeply in love with you. And I didn't tell you till four months later." Sirius smiled, biting his lip before Remus leaned forwards to kiss him, the crowd 'aww'ing and cheering.
"Oh, home, let me come home, home is wherever I'm with you. Oh, home, let me come home, home is where I'm alone with you." They both sang, separating from each other to continue singing back into their own mics.
"Home, let me come home," Sirius sang softly, staring at Remus lovingly. "Home is wherever I'm with you." He reached his hand out to Remus who was just an inch too far from him.
"Oh, home, yes, I am home," Remus began, making Sirius grow weak at the knees. "Home is when I'm alone with you." He continued, grabbing Sirius hand who went straight to Remus, holding him. "Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my ma and pa. Moats and boats and waterfalls, alleyways and pay phone calls." Remus continued to sing despite Sirius' hold on him.
Sirius always loved to sing this song for a specific reason, it was the last chorus where the female lead would be singing two specific lines in a way that if Sirius was straight, he'd fall in love, but he's gay and wants more of a reason to fall in love with Remus, so he made Remus sing the female lead just for the two lines.
"Oh, oh, home. Oh, oh, home." Remus breathed down the mic, his arm round Sirius' shoulders. "Home is when I'm alone with you." He continued, taking an audible breath down next to the mic to bless everyone with the sound. "Oh, oh, home. Oh, oh, home."
"Home is when I'm alone with you." They both sang as the music died down.
Remus leaned down, pressing a kiss to Sirius' lips, causing the audience to cheer before he pushed Sirius back to his mic with a laugh. Sirius pouted, wanting to be in Remus' arms again before James started to play the beat to "Do I Wanna Know".

"I'm dying for a drink." Sirius grumbled, running the tap and filling a glass to down the water. "I miss the small crowds, where Marlene was the loudest scream." He sighed, leaning against the counter.
"She's hiding in the back," Lily laughed, trying to gather them in for a photo. "She's so sad she's not the loudest anymore, but she's screamed her vocal cords raw, bless her." She continued, hitting James to stop kissing Regulus and to get in the photo.
They all paused, smiling at Lily's phone who took a quick photo and showed them to get all their approval before captioning it "We Love You!" and posting it on their story. James and Sirius posted it on their own stories, Peter posting a separate one of the photo Lily took of them on stage to post it, and Remus gave his phone to Sirius to also repost the story. Lily had posted on the story for people to ask questions and was now passing the phone around for them to answer some of them.
Sirius angled the phone to film both him and Remus, answering the question of "How long have Moony and Padfoot been together?"
"Seven years in September, so in four months." Sirius says, looking at Remus for validation.
"September is five months away." Remus tells him, laughing.
"I failed maths." Sirius says, smiling at the camera before the clip ended. "Oh, Lily, everyone is sending they're love to you for live streaming the gig." He says, jumping up and approaching her, taking a picture of him kissing her cheek before captioning it "Love You Lily!" and posting it.
"Stop hogging it, Pads, give me." James says, grabbing the phone and scrolling through to choose one. "Oh, I do love when people ask me if it's true if I'm dating your younger brother." He laughs, sitting down and pulling Regulus on his lap.
"Oh, please stop answering those with you making out with Reg, it's absolutely awful." Sirius says, making James click on to one of someone asking how long they've been together.
"Yes, it's true I'm dating Sirius' younger brother. We've been together for two years because Sirius made me wait until Reg turned eighteen." He said, pulling the phone closer to whisper. "But we did hook up a few times from when I was seventeen and he was sixteen for a year." He said before cutting the clip off.
"James Fleamont Potter," Regulus said, staring at his boyfriend. "Did you really tell millions of people we hooked up for a year?" He complains, James shutting him up with a kiss.
"Here, Pete, everyone wants you." James says, handing the phone over.
"Hello," Peter greeted, answering a question. "We all met at school, lovely year seven. We went to a boarding school in Scotland and shared a dorm. Which was actually horrible come year eleven when Remus and Sirius only had to cross the room to get to each other." He says, giving a smile. "Worse when I knew James was sneaking Regulus in the dorm."
"Thanks for that, Wormy." Remus laughed, shaking his head before joining him.
"When did the band get together?" Peter read out, looking at Remus. "Well, the band didn't actually form until we were in sixth form. James and I took music, Sirius wasn't allowed to because he failed maths, but he took drama and he loved it, Remus took English and that's why he's our known song writer. He's a poet." He says, shoving the camera in Remus' face.
"We formed the band because when we were hanging out round James' during Christmas, I was singing a random song, Sirius joined in on his base, James was drumming his sticks on his table and Peter, who brought the song together, was clapping his hands which surprisingly really did make the song sound better." Remus says, making Peter smile at the camera.
Peter handed the phone to Remus to take over, following the scent of croissants as Rosmerta brought them in. Remus read through some of the questions that were a bit personal, asking about where they were touring (which Lily had already answered), some wanting them to travel to their hometowns so they could watch live, some suggesting songs (Lily had wrote some down) and others asking questions of their favourite food, colour, country, subject, song and many more.
"Hi guys, we would love to get through all your questions, and we would definitely answer more after the show, but we might not get through them all, there's so many." Remus says, laughing. "As for right now, we all send our love, and we'll see you soon." He says with a wink, everyone started shouting "we love you!" before Remus cut the clip and posted it, handing the phone back to Lily. "Let's get through this list of suggestions." He says, clapping his hands together.

"I'm with the skater boy, I said, "See you later, boy"!" Sirius sang, flipping his hair back, leaning into the mic with his bass in hand. "I'll be backstage after the show. I'll be at a studio, singing the song we wrote, about a boy you used to know." He finished, Remus biting his tongue as he thrilled the last notes on his own base.
"Remus was a skater boy when we were at school." James said, grabbing Remus' mic. "He once asked out this girl before he got with Sirius, and she turned him down because of his appearance. Now he's a rockstar, playing guitar and she did in fact miss out." He laughed before Remus snatched the mic from him.
"Thanks for that." He grumbled, putting it back on the mic stand. "Don't need to tell everyone my life story." He said, with an eye roll.
"Who could ever reject you?!" A girl shouted as Sirius nodded in agreement.
"Right! I mean look at him, pure perfection. You should see him without his clothes on." He said, winking at the crowd who all swooned.
"Boys!" Lily said, making all four boys turn their head to face her at the side of the stage. "You can either do one more song or take photos with some fans." She said before they all turned to face the crowd.
"Song or photos?" Sirius asked, raising a brow before there was a load of shouting. "Ok, ok, stop, stop, stop!" He shouted over them all, laughing. "We'll take a vote, hands up for song." He said, a few hands went up. "Hands up for photos." He then said, making more hands raise up. "We're doing photos."
Lily made her way on the stage, Remus handing his mic to her as she took it and smiled at the crowd. "Right, let's do this the right way." She says, clearing her throat. "Hagrid, give a wave please." She says, making him raise his hand from the corner of the stage. "Calmly, and I mean calmly-"
"Listen to her, she's scary." Sirius said, making her glare at him. "Sorry." He says, approaching Remus for protection.
"Calmly," She repeated, the crowd nodding. "Make a line by Hagrid. No pushing, no shoving, no cutting in, no kicking, no fighting! If you do one of those things, you'll be removed from the line. Right, get queuing." She tells them before they do as she says.
Rosmerta helped them clear the stage so fans can get up and take group photos with them or single photos which were taken by Lily. Many took photos with their friends, some went solo and squealed with their friends over the photos, some spoke with them with ease before walking off to let out silent squeals.
"I remember your first gig." A girl said, approaching the group with a wide smile. "I was on a date, and I was so happy you all looked so nervous getting on the stage for the first time because it meant I wasn't the only nervous person in the room." She says, making them all smile. "I would come watch you more often, but I go to university in Cambridge, I'm only back home for work experience."
"Lily," Sirius called over the girl's shoulder. "Write down Cambridge, we'll go. I also want to go to Fitzwilliam Museum." He says, making Lily laugh.
"Oh, it's absolutely beautiful there. I study art, so we visit it a lot." The girl said, beginning to blush.
"Remus loves art." Sirius says, smiling as well.
"Sorry to end this conversation." James smiles, grabbing Sirius' shoulders. "Pads, stop trying to make friends with everyone, we won't get through the line."
"Sorry." Sirius laughs, shrugging. "Can't help it." He says before they pose for the photo.
"See you in Cambridge." Peter shouts over as she takes her phone from Lily with a 'thank you' and give the group a smile.
"Our first gig?" Sirius laughs, shaking his head. "That was five years ago, and my voice cracked so many times during that performance." He said, grimacing at the thought.
"Well, it was our first performance so we would have been a little choppy." James says, messing Sirius' hair, making him grumble and fix it desperately before the next group of girls approached.
An hour later, Lily put a stop to the photos after not getting through the crowd. The band apologised, saying how they would have loved to get through pictures with everyone, but they unfortunately don't have the time. Rosmerta messaged them two hours after leaving to say she was still packed and made the pub hours earlier since she ran out of tea and coffee and had more than enough alcohol to those who were old enough, she thanked them heavily for making her profits rise which they replied back to her saying that she didn't have to thank them since they had to thank her more for being the reason they are where they are now.
They took up answering some of the questions again in James and Regulus' flat where they were having a few drinks to finish the night. The Chinese they ordered came after seven which they ate while reading through the comments on the live stream, commenting on their own accounts as Lily went through on the main account to also comment. By eight they stopped and were chatting as usual, talking about the tour.
"I do pray that Slughorn had put us in separate hotel rooms. We do two shows at each location, and there's fourteen locations. I'll die if we're stuck in the same room." Peter says, eating the chocolates Regulus had set out for the group.
"I still can't believe that for three months we'll be on tour." James says, shaking his head to himself in disbelief.
"Still can't believe you managed to convince Slughorn to get Reg to join us, what was it you said? 'We can't go on tour without our personal hairdresser'? Regulus doesn't even know how to cut hair." Sirius laughed, throwing his head back.
"What? He wouldn't let Reggie come if I told him he was my boyfriend, he says 'relationships distract artist from performing to their full abilities'." James replies, imitating Slughorn.
"Oh, fuck, he said that to me, didn't he?" Sirius says, laughing some more. "He did, remember that? Told him if I can't date Remus then he can shove the record deal up his ass and Dumbledore threatened to fire him, so he shut up about that." He laughs, throwing his head back again.
"Oh, God bless you Remus," Peter said, letting out a light laugh. "You got to try and get him home and he's drunk."
"Not the first time." Remus said, drinking from his can of beer.
"Can't believe it's next month we go on tour." James says, a hand through his hair. "To think, we were sixteen and singing gigs at the cafe believing that was as far as we were going to get with our music career." He says, smiling at the thought.
"Do you think it was our talent or looks that made Dumbledore take a chance on us?" Sirius asked, licking his lips at the chocolate on display.
"Probably both." Peter says, also looking over the chocolates. "Pretty sure he liked us for our looks then realised we had talent."
"Peter, I think you won his heart." Sirius laughs, being given a chocolate by him. "Remus, I'm leaving you for Peter." He says, looking at Remus over his shoulder.
"Thank you so much, Peter, I've been wanting to get rid of him for years." Remus replied, sounding sarcastic. "Good luck getting him home." He says, finishing his beer.
"Oh, that's fine, we'll have a great time." Sirius smiles at Remus before facing Peter again to blowing him a kiss with a wink, making Peter pretend to swoon with the back of his hand against his forehead.
"Shit, I need to call Dorcas," Lily said, standing up quickly. "She's supposed to be doing your outfits for the tour." She says, walking into the kitchen with her phone pressed to her ear.
"Take that to mean the girls are coming as well." Regulus said, leaning comfortable on James.
"Lily would definitely recommend for Dorcas to do outfits, Mary to do makeup, and Marlene would come with some bullshit excuse." James replies, running a hand through Regulus' hair.
"Be nice, sort of like a holiday." Sirius comments, shrugging. "We'll less than sort of, it's more work than holiday but still." He says, Peter nodding.
"A work holiday. Still fun but more stressful." Peter says, making everyone hum in agreement.
"Slughorn is going to fire me." Lily says, re-entering into the sitting room. "I've got all three of the girls agreeing to go and I messaged him saying if he disagrees, you aren't going to perform to your best abilities. God, you can gaslight that man into anything if you say it right." She tells them, shaking her head.
"He's great at his job. We have brilliant songs because he knows how to motivate us to write, he also knows contacts to get us more popular and we met Harry Styles. Oh, I wanted to marry that man." Sirius says, smiling dreamily.
"He's far too old for you." Remus tells him, making Sirius swat in his direction.
"Twenty-eight is not too old. I'd marry Hugh Jackman and he's like fifty or something." Sirius says with a giggle.
"Oh, I take it I'm too young for you, huh?" Remus asks, tilting his head at his boyfriend.
"Yeah, much too young, you're even younger than me. I like them older, hot and older." Sirius says, leaning backwards, looking dreamily. "But you'll do for now." He says, leaning in to kiss him.
"Aww, thanks." Remus says, pulling away before pressing their lips together again.
