Something Blue
‘Morgana le Fey…do you know who she was?’
Loki mused. He was sure he had heard the name before. Frigga smiled at her son. He had come to her in the morning and she knew that the love between Alexis and Loki was sealed. Frigga was happy. The witch would give her son all her love and he, in turn, would let go of his hatred. She knew that Odin had told Thor the story of Arthur and Morgana. She patted the couch and asked Loki to sit down. It was time to tell him everything. Frigga knew Alexis was powerful. She didn't know she was actually descended from Morgana. This would mean that she would become much stronger with time. It also meant that Alexis, like Morgana, had to choose between what was easy and what was right. And that choice was not always so simple. Loki in turn told his mother about what he had seen that night and Frigga knew that the being was the reason Alexis had survived.
After Loki heard the story from his mother, he decided to return to Alexis. When he got to her room, he gently opened the door. He heard Alexis talking.
‘It was so amazing. He was so sweet and he didn’t hurt me. He really made me feel safe.’ He smiled when he heard this. He entered the room and saw his witch sitting on the bed with Jane. He decided to be courteous and greeted Jane kindly. The look in her eyes was worth it and he hid his grin. He walked over to Alexis and gave her a kiss. ‘Ride with me today?’ Alexis blushed and nodded. ‘Let me go and change, I will meet you at the stables?’
On the way to the stables, Loki ran into Thor.
‘Baby brother!’ Loki moaned...Thor was far too cheerful. But Loki himself was in a great mood so he reacted mildly and slapped his brother on the shoulder. ‘What is it?’ he asked. Thor gave him a look that indicated he wanted to know what had happened last night. At this look, Loki smirked and only shrugged.
‘You mean to tell me that nothing happened?’ Loki smirked again and responded playfully. ‘Well I don’t kiss and tell, you know that.’ Thor beamed. Not all their troubles were over, but Loki stopped pretending he wasn't his brother. Thor hated himself for what he wanted to say, and Loki saw the doubt on his face.
‘What is it?’
They walked to the stables together and Thor decided to blurt it out. ‘Did you tell her about Laufey?’ A shadow fell over Loki’s face. ‘What about him?’ he spat.
‘Nothing…it matters not. Not to me. You are, and always will be my brother.’ Thor placed his hand on Loki’s shoulder. Loki looked up. ‘What if she is repulsed by it?’ It was a small moment of weakness and he hated himself. Why should he care?
But he knew it did matter…damn it…
He looked at Thor. ‘She knows I'm different. She never said anything about it.’
Thor squeezed his shoulder and left him alone. Loki thought about his words and his own hatred for what he was. When Alexis was standing next to him, he gave her a somewhat absent-minded kiss. ‘Something wrong?’ she asked him. He smiled, kissed her again, and shook his head. ‘It’s nothing, love. Let’s go.’
They drove through fields, past forests, crossed a stream, and ended at a huge waterfall. The waterfall emptied into a lake, with rocks and grasses lining the edges. Alexis had never ridden this long and was a little sore. She was happy when Loki stopped and struggled to get off the horse. Loki saw this and helped her. He snapped his fingers and in the grass next to the lake a blanket appeared with food on it. Alexis looked at him gratefully and they ate together until they were full. They talked about everything. About her school years, about her dreams. About his war stories and the pranks he had played when he was younger.
‘I have to tell you something. It’s about last night.’ Alexis looked expectant and smiled.
‘Okay.’
Loki thought about how to tell her about the smoke-like entity he had seen. He didn’t want to frighten her so he was doubtful about how to broach the subject.
‘Well?’ Alexis asked with a smile, cocking her head to the side. Loki smiled a bit apprehensively and decided to go for it.
‘I woke up last night because I felt a presence in the room. You were asleep and I didn't want to wake you up if it was nothing. Farther up the room was something...some kind of creature.’ Alexis’ eyes went wide after hearing this. A creature…what the hell?
‘It looked like it was just smoke. And it spoke to me...about you. That it had protected you and that it was no longer needed. That you were its Master…That it was now up to me. And then it disappeared.’ Loki looked at Alexis and waited. She was thinking about it, judging by the small frown wrinkle on her forehead.
‘I think I know what it is, but the weird thing is, if I'm right, this...thing...shouldn't be able to talk.’ Alexis told Loki about a thing called an Obscrurus.
‘I told my mother what I saw. Not because I didn't want to discuss it with you, but I just wanted to make sure it couldn't hurt. She says you are descended from Morgana le Fey.’
When she heard that, Alexis heaved a deep sigh. Of course. Let her be the descendent of the one woman whose fame rivaled her own. They talked about it for a little while, but their discussions lead nowhere.
‘Do you want to go swimming?’ He said suddenly and looked at her mischievously. She grinned back, completely at ease. ‘Sure.’ Before Loki even got up, Alexis had gotten up, stripped down to her undergarments, and dived into the water. Loki made his clothes disappear and ducked after her. He grabbed her ankle and pulled her underwater. They played in the water until they both got tired. Loki decided to take the gamble and took Alexis in his arms.
‘You know I am adopted right?’ Alexis nodded. ‘I know. You were born in Jotunheim.’
‘Did you know that Jotunns look vastly different than Asgardians?’ Again Alexis nodded. ‘They are blue and really big, right? That’s also the reason you are a bit colder to the touch?’ Loki was baffled. She didn't seem to mind. Just to be sure he asked further. ‘So you know this is not my true form…?’
Alexis looked at him searchingly. ‘What are you trying to tell me? That you are actually blue? I know that...do you think I have a problem with that?’ She sounded a bit offended. Loki didn't know what to say. That didn't happen often, but the woman in his arms looked at him so indignantly that he almost burst out laughing.
‘I don’t know…’ he admitted and in a flash of courage, he turned himself into his real form. When Loki suddenly turned blue while holding her in the water, Alexis saw his skin change to cobalt blue with all kinds of markings. She touched the markings on his chest with her fingers. She looked up when Loki took a deep breath and saw that his eyes were bright red. His eyes suddenly looked like Voldemort's, all those years ago at the cemetery. She couldn't stop the shiver going through her and felt Loki stiffen. If she didn't say anything now, she'd lost his confidence and trust and didn't know if they would come back from that. This was obviously a big deal for him. So she did the first thing that came to her mind. She kissed him.
It seemed as if Loki didn't want to kiss her back, but not much later she felt his mouth open and she deepened the kiss. They kissed each other for a while before Alexis broke the kiss and hugged him.
‘I'm sorry, I was just shocked by your eyes…You couldn't have known this, but Voldemort has red eyes and when I saw yours the memory of the graveyard came back and that's why I was shaking. Really I don’t mind that you are blue or that you have red eyes...please believe me.’ She felt Loki relax. Crisis averted.
He picked her up and she let out a little yelp. Loki carried her out of the water and lay her down on the blanket. He lay on his side next to her and as he kissed her, he turned back into his Asgardian form. ‘Hey, wait...why are you turning back?’ she asked bewildered. He raised his eyebrows. She smiled shyly. ‘I really don’t mind. The cold is actually welcoming.’
She felt empowered and grabbed his member before she could lose her nerve. This made Loki stiffen and he looked at her in surprise.
'If I remember correctly, this one was also blue?' She looked coyly and moved her hand up and down in a stroking fashion. Loki groaned and grabbed her hand. ‘You want me to be blue?’ He needed her to be sure. She kissed him and that was all the confirmation he needed. He turned back to his Jotunn form and they spent the rest of the afternoon at the lake, exploring each other’s bodies and making love. Loki felt totally at ease in his own form, for the first time ever. Alexis felt at ease with this beautiful man. It was the perfect day.
