Acorns
“Did you hear?!” Ginny squealed, followed by an immediate shushing from Madame Pince.
“Hear what?” Hermione whispered.
“Hufflepuff’s seeker fell off his broom and broke his leg!” Ginny excitedly told her only a bit too loud.
“Oh my god! Is he ok?”
“He’ll be fine! He’s with Madame Pomfrey now. But Hermione!” Hermione waited for Ginny to get to the point that she was obviously missing. “He can’t play today! They already announced the switch!”
A slow smile spread over Hermione’s face. “And who’s playing Ravenclaw now?” She asked, already knowing that Ginny would say—
“Slytherin!”
“Shhh!!” Madam Pince warned again.
But Ginny and Hermione were already leaving the library.

They’d confirmed with Professor McGonnagal, it’s not against the rules to throw things at players from the stands. At least not in a school game. But nothing that can cause injury, which Hermione found hilarious because have you seen the kind of injury a bludger can cause?
But Hermione and Ginny got ready to attack with their customary bucket of acorns. They didn’t really care about helping gryffindor, they just really liked throwing things at slytherins.

A slytherin chaser winked at them. Gross. Acorns!
The seeker flew near them when he thought he saw the snitch. Acorns!
Another chaser blew a kiss at them. Actually maybe it was just at Ginny… He still got acorns thrown at his head.
Could they trick the seeker into thinking an acorn was the snitch and make him fly after it? Acorns!
They watched Malfoy dive to chase a falling acorn. Was it safe to fly straight down that fast? The announcer definitely knew it wasn’t the snitch but he wasn’t announcing that. The crowd was getting excited. The game could end any second now, at least they thought so.
And, oh he caught it! Oh…he looks mad. Is it a bad idea to throw acorns at a mad seeker while he’s flying straight toward you? Probably. Ginny and Hermione weren’t looking for a good idea.
Malfoy hovered in flight, close enough to just off his broom into the bleachers if he wanted.
“Weaslette,” he bared his teeth in something like a threat and a smile.
“Granger!” His smile his smile turned far more wolffish. “This is yours.”
He held out the acorn to give it back. Hermione wasn’t sure if she should take it or not, but she let him place it in her hand.
He took the chance to grab her by the hand and pull her to the edge of the bleachers. Close enough to the field that he could whisper in her ear.
“Next time, you should throw your knickers. I promise I’ll catch them for you.”
Hermione felt heat rise into her cheeks. How dare he? But also, how dare he proposition her for something so silly, she wasn’t immediately thinking of saying no.
Hermione wasn’t sure what possessed her to say, “you’ll be a good boy for me? You’ll play fetch like a good little bitch for me?”
She could feel Malfoy’s lips pulling into a smile against her cheek.
“Only for you.”
Hermione realized in that moment she couldn’t throw her knickers even if she wanted to, they were damp.
“I’ll catch another acorn for you,” Malfoy offered.
He was missing the whole game! A game, Hermione realized, she very much wanted to end.
“I don’t want an acorn,” Hermione breathed. “Catch a little golden ball for me. And meet me after the game!”
