Twenty-Two
November 20th 1998:
“I have to go.” Draco mumbled against Hermione’s lips. She was currently sitting on his lap.
“Not yet.” Hermione moved her hips against his.
“Is the redhead putting you up to this?” Draco asked as Hermione’s lips moved down his neck. “Is she trying to sabotage my focus for the game today?”
“You think Ginny would use me, someone who could care less about quidditch, to sabotage the game?”
“Yes.”
“I am kissing you for good luck.” Hermione kissed his lips one last time. “But fine, if i’m distracting you too much, I’ll stop.”
“I never said stop.”
“Don’t you have to go?”
“Blaise will understand.” Draco wrapped his arms around Hermione and flipped her until her back was on the couch and he was leaning over her. He leaned down to kiss her but was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Draco! Open the damn door!” It was Blaise.
“I don’t think Blaise will understand.” Hermione laughed. Draco stood up, gathered all his Quidditch gear and kissed Hermione one last time. He walked over and opened the door.
“Bye Granger!” Blaise yelled as they walked down the hallway away from their dorm.
Hermione laughed to herself as she laid on the couch.
“You are so in love with her, aren’t you?” Blaise asked Draco as they walked towards the Quidditch locker rooms.
“Shut up.”
“It’s a good thing. You, me, Theo, we’ve all found our girls.” Draco smiled.
“I think you are the only person on this planet who was able to tame Pansy Parkinson.” Blaise laughed.
“Don’t let her hear you say that. I love that woman but she scares the living shit out of me.” Draco laughed.
“What are you laughing about?” Theo came over, with his broom.
“Pansy is a terrifying woman.”
“Did the two of you only just realize this? She’s been scaring me our whole lives.” The boys laughed. “Who ever thought that the three of us would be happy and alive?”
“If you told me two years ago that I’d be alive today, I would not have believed you.” Draco smiled at his friends.
“What if we told you you’d be sleeping with Hermione Granger? How would you react?”
“Well, I’m technically not sleeping with her.”
“You two haven’t had sex yet?”
“No. She’s not ready. I’m not pushing her.”
“Have you done anything together?”
“I’m not talking about my sex life with you in the middle of the hallway.” Draco shook his head. “We need to warm up.”
When it came time for the game to begin, Draco flew out to the field alongside Blaise, Theo, and the rest of their teammates. He spotted her right away. Her wild curls in the mess of red and gold. He waved at her and she waved back. As he was smiling at her, she lifted the red and gold jumper she wore to show a green shirt underneath. She blew him a kiss, then turned to Neville beside her and started talking with him.
“Head in the game Draco.” Blaise shouted at him.
“Right.” Draco flew to his spot and waited for the game to begin.
“So what’s going on with you and Malfoy?” Neville asked Hermione.
“We’re dating.” Hermione told him. He was almost shocked that she admitted it.
“You’re happy?” Neville looked her in the eye.
“I am.”
“Good for you.” Neville wrapped his arm around Hermione’s shoulders. “But don’t let Ginny see you’re wearing green under that sweater.”
“She won’t.” Hermione laughed.
Their conversation halted when the game began. Ginny immediately scored ten points for Gryffindor.
The teams went back and forth between scoring.
“It’s a close game. Hopefully your boyfriend will catch the snitch.” Neville teased.
“Does it make me a traitor if I say I hope he does?”
“It makes you a girlfriend rooting for her boyfriend. I don’t think that makes you a traitor.” Hermione smiled.
“You’re not surprised at all, are you?”
“About you and Malfoy? I’m not surprised at all.” Hermione turned back to the game, just in time to see Draco racing towards the ground, chasing the snitch. She watched as he reached his hand out and,
“Malfoy has the snitch! Slytherin Wins!” The announcer yelled into the mic. Hermione clapped. She wanted to scream and cheer but she didn’t want to be tackled by upset Gryffindors.
Draco looked up from the ground, where his teammates were rushing towards him, and found Hermione in the stands. She waved to him smiling and he smiled back.
“Oh quit it, Lovebird!” Theo yelled, jumping on Draco. “Let’s go celebrate!”
“At least let me get Granger first.”
“You want to invite Granger into the snake pit?”
“Yes, I do.” Draco smirked. “I’ll meet you there.” Draco walked towards where the students exit the stands.
“Congratulations.” Draco smiled as Hermione walked towards him.
“Thank you.” He held his hand for her to take. “Come with me.”
“Where are we going?”
“Slytherin Dormitory.” Hermione froze. “You can’t say no. I just won the first Quidditch game of the season. We have to celebrate.” He looked at her and just kept smiling at her. “You also need to take that offensive jumper off.”
“Fine. Let’s go.” Hermione finally took Draco’s hand and they walked off towards the head’s dorm. “I thought you said Slytherin Dorms…” Hermione trailed off.
“I also said you need to take that jumper off.” She rolled her eyes. Taking her jumper off she was left in a tight green tank top. “Bloody Hell.” Hermione laughed and kissed him.
“Don’t we have a party to be at?”
“Yes we do.” Draco led Hermione to the dungeons. “Pureblood.” Draco whispered.
“Slytherins.” Hermione rolled her eyes.
“Oh shush. That has been the password for Slytherin's Common Room for centuries. We can change our views, we don’t change the password.”
Draco pulled her through the door and when they walked in everyone started cheering.
“There he is! For the first time in seven years Slytherin has beat Gryffindor and it was all because of that man, right there!” Theo yelled. “Best seeker Hogwarts has this year!” Draco laughed and rolled his eyes.
“Theo, get off the damn coffee table!” Some girl yelled.
“Welcome to the snake pit, Granger.” Pansy and Blaise came to where Hermione and Draco were standing. Pansy handed her a drink, and Blaise handed Draco one. “Come on, you are coming with me.”
“I’ll come save you in a few minutes.” Draco whispered to her before Pansy could drag Hermione away.
“The boys like to celebrate right after a win. Beating Gryffindor means shots and shots means fighting. Trust me, I’m saving you.”
“We’re are we going?”
“It’s just this back area. It’s where all the girlfriends and others sit and place bets on who is going to start the arm wrestling.”
“Arm wrestling?” Hermione almost laughed.
“Oh yes. They love to prove who’s strongest.” Milli told her as they approached the others.
“What’s the Gryffindor Princess doing here?” Tracey Davis asked, sipping on her drink.
“Be Careful of how you speak Davis, she isn’t just the Gryffindor Princess anymore, she’s Draco’s.” Pansy smirked.
“Merlin, of course he’s screwing Granger.” Dravis rolled her eyes and got up and left.
“She’s really nice.” Hermione laughed and took her seat.
“Don’t take it personally.” Daphne started “She hates everyone.”
“Good to know.”
“So,” Millicent started and looked around them. Hermione was sitting with Pansy, Millicent, Daphne, and a few younger slytherin girls. “Tell us all about it.”
“All about what?”
“Sex with Draco.” Pansy said bluntly. “I mean, I know from experience but I want to hear how he is with you.”
“Oh.” She had known Draco had a relationship with Pansy but the spike of jealousy that went through her upon hearing about it, was not something she was proud of. “We haven’t actually had sex yet.”
“I’m sorry what?” Pansy’s jaw dropped. “You’ve been together so what, two months? And he hasn’t fucked you yet?”
“Well, I am a,” Hermione took a large gulp of her drink. “I’m a virgin.”
“Oh bloody hell.”
“No fucking way.”
“I’m speechless.” Pansy, Milli, and Daphne all were very shocked.
“I didn’t exactly have the time. I’ve never had a serious relationship before and then I was helping Harry defeat Voldemort and now I’m here.”
“You’re telling us that the whole time you were on the run with Potter and Weasley, you didn’t have sex with either of them?”
“Nope.” Hermione finished her drink.
“Damn.”
“Have you guys done anything?”
“A little bit. Mostly just intense snogging.”
“I didn’t know Draco Malfoy could be celibate.”
“I guess he just met the right person. The one worth waiting for.” Daphne said. Hermione smiled at her.
“He’s the only one I’ve ever considered doing things with. Even when Ron and I were dating, I barely liked kissing him. It’s one of the reasons we broke up.” Hermione looked at Draco who was talking to Blaise and Theo. “I think I'm falling for him.”
“I’m picturing a winter wedding.” Pansy smirked. “Something simple and small. I can’t picture either of you having a large wedding. Red will be maid of honor but I also think us three will be included since you love us and we’re all basically sisters to Draco. Blaise and Theo would fight over being Best Men so he’d have to end up picking both of them. I think he’d invite Potter and Weasley too, just for you.” Hermione laughed.
“I’ll keep all that in mind.”
“Oh I can see you being one of those brides that wears a pantsuit instead of a dress. It would drive Narcissa crazy.” Milli laughed.
Hermione laughed with her new friends. She didn’t think too much about it, but did notice Daphne wasn’t laughing, instead she was sipping on her drink.
“I think you both are getting ahead of yourselves. Give them some time.” Daphne said and Hermione smiled at her.
Hermione looked back over to Draco to find him talking with a blonde girl.
“Who's that talking to Draco?” Pansy smirked.
“Is someone getting jealous?”
“I’m not jealous.”
“You have nothing to worry about with her. That’s my sister Astoria. She’s had a crush on Draco for as long as I can remember.”
“And have they ever…?” Hermione trailed off.
“Merline no. She’s three years younger than us. Draco would fool around with older witches but never younger. Not even in the year below us. He always said it made him feel too sleazy if he slept with anyone younger than him, even a year.”
When Hermione looked back over to where Draco was, he was no longer there and neither was Astoria.
“Hello.” Draco appeared in front of her, causing her to jump.
“Hi.” He leaned down to kiss her.
“I want to show you something.” Draco took Hermione’s hand and pulled her up.
Draco led her up the stairs and then down a long hallway.
“Where are we going?”
“My old room.” Draco opened a door.
“And why are we here?” She asked as he guided her inside.
“Because I would like to snog with you in my childhood bed.” Draco smirked and led Hermione to his old bed.
“And what about the others who live in this room?”
“Theo and Blaise are the only other ones who sleep in this room. They know where we are, they know not to disturb us.” Draco gently pushed Hermione down onto his bed and she laughed. He smiled down at her, admiring her beauty. The way her curls fell like a halo around her head, the smile on her face showing pure joy, the blush on her face from the alcohol she’s consumed.
“What?”
“You’re gorgeous.” The blush on her face darkened.
“Draco,”
“Don’t deny it. You are.” She smiled again.
“You’re pretty good looking too.” He chuckled and smiled down at her. She looked around them and saw a carving on the bedpost. She reached up and traced it. “D.M”
“I did that in my first year.”
“Vandalism as a first year?”
“Oh please. Should we go through everything you did as a first year?” Hermione laughed.
“No, because that would take too long and I would rather kiss you than talk about my first year shenanigans.” Draco laughed and leaned down to kiss her.
He moved onto the bed with her, laying his body on top of hers.
“Draco,” He looked down at Hermione. “Thank you for being patient with me.”
“I will wait for you forever.”
“I promise it won’t be forever.”
“It doesn't matter. I am perfectly content with just snogging you.”
“Draco,”
“Stop talking Granger and let me kiss you.” Hermione laughed and kissed him.
While neither of them could admit it, they were falling in love with each other. Despite all odds, they are falling in love and are happier than ever.
