September 20th 1998:
When Hermione Granger woke up the morning after her birthday, there were a mix of feelings. The first and most obvious was of course, being hungover. She felt awful. Then next was indescribable. She had kissed Draco Malfoy last night and he kissed her back.
Flipping around to hide from the sun, she screamed into the pillow.
Downstairs, Draco Malfoy is smirking in the kitchen. When he woke that morning, he spent twenty minutes staring at the ceiling, thinking about the night before. Hermione Granger kissed him. She of course was drunk, but as the muggles say, ‘drunk words are sober thoughts’. He assumed it was the same concept for actions.
When he finally heard her door open, he’d just finished making tea. He attempted to make it the same way he had seen her do, but soon gave up and used his wand. He turned around to see her standing at the bottom of the stairs in an oversized t-shirt and a pair of sleep shorts.
“I made tea.”
“Please don’t shout.” Draco chuckled.
“I didn’t shout, Granger. You’re hungover.”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Anything you do want to talk about?” Once he saw the blush across her face, he smirked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Hermione stated as if it were a true fact.
“Is that your way of pretending not to remember kissing me?” Draco teased. “Where is that famous gryffindor bravery?”
“I'm overwhelmed by my hangover.” Draco let out a small chuckle.
“I can wait it out then.” Draco laid back in his chair, casually sipping his tea.
“Wait what out?”
“Your hangover.” Draco then held up a small potion bottle. “Or you can drink this hangover potion and talk about the kiss.” He smirked.
“I did it because I was drunk. Ginny put it in my head that i should put myself out there and after opening your gift and the fight between Seamus and you, I don’t know, I wanted to kiss you so i did it. I’m sorry.”
“No need to apologize, Granger. I just wanted to hear you say that you wanted to kiss me.” Draco handed Hermione the potion before going up stairs to his room.
Hermione stood there befuddled. She chugged the potion down before setting the bottle on the side table.
“Prat” She mumbled as she went up the stairs, following the Blonde’s path. She aggressively opened the door, which had Malfoy smirking.
“There is this thing called knocking, Granger. Ever heard of it?” He teased her.
“You kissed me back”
“So what if I did?”
“Well, I-i uh” Hermione stuttered.
“And what if I said I wanted to do it again?” Draco took a step closer to her. “Would you stop me?” Hermione shook her head no. “Use your words, Granger.”
“No, I wouldn’t stop you.” Draco smirked before stepping even closer to Hermione and gently placing his hands on her face before bringing his lips to connect with her.
The moment she kissed him back, he deepened it. Moving his hands to her waist, he pulled her even closer. Hermione brought her hands up to wrap around his neck, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck. Without breaking the kiss, Draco guided the two towards his bed. She fell onto the soft, silk sheets, when the back of her knees hit the mattress. Before following her, he looked her in the eyes.
“Is this okay?”
“Yes.” The two smiled at each other before Draco followed Hermione and laid on top of her. Reconnecting their lips, Draco’s hand moved slowly upwards until it rested just under her jumper, but not quite touching skin yet. It was Hermione who deepened the kiss this time. Parting their lips for one moment to catch their breaths, Draco took in Hermione’s flushed appearance.
He wasn’t a blind man. Ever since fourth year he could quietly admit to only himself that he thought she was attractive. But being here, laying on top of her, kissing her, he knew she was the most beautiful woman at Hogwarts, maybe even in the world.
Moving to kiss her once again, he was interrupted by a loud banging noise.
“Draco Malfoy! Let us in!” It was Theo’s obnoxious voice.
“Draco Lucius Malfoy!” And there was Blaise.
“Bloody Hell I am going to murder them.” Hermione chuckled. She reached up to join their lips together for one last kiss. “Can we talk later?” Draco asked her, still against her lips.
“Yes.” Draco stood up, pulling Hermione with him. The two walked to the door, Draco opening it for her.
“I’ll see you later, Granger” and before she closed the door to her own room, she replied,
“Bye Malfoy.” Closing the door, Hermione slid down it. She just snogged Draco Malfoy, in his room, in his bed. Oh Merlin.
Hermione could hear the entrance to the common room open. Before it closed, she heard the promises of death from Draco to his confused friends.
