All the students were sitting in the common room and trying to complete their homework. The older students helping the younger ones. So when a few of the muggle born’s and half bloods played with their pens as they did their work, the others got curious. The following days, pens and pen spinning spread like wildfire. Few of the muggle born’s started dealing pens and other stationary. Many were interested in those muggle contraptions. Not only because of pen spinning, but because of how convenient they were compared to quills.
So when the students started pen spinning in Snape’s classes, it was no surprise they got detention. This stopped the others from doing it in his class or at least prompted them to be more discrete.
When a few Gryffindor students did not heed the warning of their peers and were pen spinning in Snape’s class, it was not a surprise that they got detention. The pissed off Gryffindor’s decided it was a good idea to confront Snape and spoke up saying, “You are just jealous that we are good at it and you can’t even hold a pen properly to save your life.“
Hearing this, Snape just raised an unimpressed eyebrow at them. He walked into the office space of his classroom and retrieved a box. To project what was on the table, he cast a spell. He took various types of pens out of the box and laid it out on the table. “Mr.Wesley you say that I cannot hold a pen properly to save my life.“ he barked out in laughter as he repeated back what Wesley had said.
Seeing Snape laugh out loud was a shock to everyone. The dreaded dungeon bat just laughed. A few pinched themselves hard to check if it was a dream, a few cast Finite Incantatem. When nothing happened, a few of them fainted. He enjoyed their expressions of pure shock and disbelief as he took a long pen and started spinning it lightly. He slowly started increasing the difficulty of the spins he did. “There are many competitions for pen spinning. And you Mr.Wesley are speaking to the one who won them all.“ he smirked as he informed him.
Later that night, Minerva asked him what did he do to make her lions look so dull and defeated. He told him about what happened during his class and Minerva started laughing when she heard what one of her lions had told. All the staff knew about Snape’s love for Stationary, especially pens. Not to mention how skilled he was at calligraphy, lettering and pen spinning among others.
