Chapter 1
It was nearly June. It had almost been a month since the Battle at Hogwarts and Harry Potter was still recovering. After losing so many friends and family members, he was having a difficult time and decided to see a mind healer to help. It also didn't help the fact that it was required by the Ministry of Magic in order for him to legally and fully adopt Teddy as his.
The healer suggested getting Sirius' home -now Harry's- in order. It would 'help him heal', she said. He only had two days left before it was time to pick up Teddy from Andromeda Tonks. Only two days left until Teddy was in his care, full time. Two days before he became a full time father.
After the battle, Remus refused to leave Tonks' body. He sat there for hours just holding her hand. His mate; his love, had just died. He couldn't handle looking at their child without being reminded of the person he loved most in the world. That night, he packed all of Teddy's things. Remus held him for hours, just rocking him in a chair and telling him stories about his mother.
Remus left Teddy's things in the living room of 12 Grimmauld Place, along with Teddy and a note that said he was sorry, and he couldn't go on. He couldn't try and be a father when he didn't even know where his mind was. He was leaving Teddy in Harry's care —permanently. Remus signed over all of his rights to his son, to his godson.
Harry jumped at the idea to raise his godson. It was the last piece of family that he knew; other than Hermione and Ron. The Ministry deemed the home unfit for a child. They stated that he had two weeks to get cleared by a Mind Healer and get the home in order. His two weeks were up in two days.
They were working on the last room. Taking all artifacts and placing them in a vault at Gringotts, as well as every picture frame. Minus the muggle picture of Sirius and Harry's parents, taken with the muggle camera, courtesy of Lily. The House of Black was riddled with many dark objects. Harry, as well as the Ministry, agreed that this home was no place for a child.
Hermione had acquired a room of her own in the home. Ron was locked away in his own world, and she knew that Harry needed her. She just wasn't sure if Harry needed her as much as she needed him. Her parents were still recovering from having the Memory Charm removed. They had chosen not to see her just yet.
It worked out perfectly that way. Hermione helped Harry through his nightmares, cleaned the home, and even spent their evenings reminiscing about how life was before all of their friends lost their lives.
"Oh come on, Harry!" Hermione groaned, "we only have one room left! Then we are done! Everything else is finished." Harry just grunted in response.
Hermione kicked his leg to make him turn towards her. "We can do this. His room is set up, everything has been child proofed. The only room left is this one. We just have to move things around, change the furniture a bit, and secure the Floo. Then we can lay around and watch things on the telly." Harry smiled, "Yeah, okay. Let's get it done."
The duo got to work. Books were soaring through the air, a shelf was transfigured in the corner for Teddy's toys and books in the room. A new living room set had been set in place, and a rocking chair now sat in front of the fire. A TV was placed on the opposite side against the wall, with an endless amount of movies to choose from. They both agreed to make the house seem as mundane and muggle as possible in order for Teddy to grow up in. "Harry, how did you get this TV?" Hermione questions.
Harry only smirked, she didn't need to know everything. "I guess you'll never know. But every kid needs a telly, think of the endless movie nights we'll have!"
He got a laugh in response as Hermione shook her head and did the last finishing touches on the room. Everything was done and it was only noon.
"Well, that's it. Thank you, 'Mione. I couldn't have done all this without you. And thank you for offering to help with Ted. I'm not entirely sure how this is going to go, but I do know that I want what's best for him. And you being here is that," Harry confessed, pulling the short girl in for a hug.
Hermione squeezed him in response. She couldn't put into words how much Harry meant to her. Not only was he her brother in every sense of the word, they were blood-bound siblings.
The marks on their wrists proved that.
While on the search for Horcruxes, and after Ron left, Hermione was devastated. She was afraid that she would lose her other brother as well. Harry did everything he could to convince her that he wasn't going anywhere, but she wouldn't listen. So he did the only thing he could think of.
He performed the spell that bound the two of them together forever. They were family in every sense of the word. To make their new kinship even more real, Hermione decided to take on a new last name. Harry James Potter, and Hermione Jean Granger-Potter; The Golden Duo, bound as brother and sister for all eternity in the eyes of the law, as well as blood.
The duo decided to freshen up, and Harry called for Kreacher who appeared in front of him with a loud crack. "Master Harry called for Kreacher?"
Harry had to restrain himself from rolling his eyes, "It's just Harry, Kreacher. But yes, how would you feel about a movie night? Popcorn, pizza, snacks, and a good show on the telly?"
Kreacher was torn. Master should not have been asking Kreacher to join him for his family night. Kreacher was just a house-elf. His duty was to serve Master Harry and Master Harry's family until his dying breath, but Master Harry wanted Kreacher to be part of that family. Kreacher wasn't sure what to do with that.
Harry even sent Kreacher away to Andromeda Tonks' home while he and Hermione redid the home. Although they did let Kreacher take whatever items he wanted upstairs to the attic, which Hermione insisted he use as his bedroom.
"Kreacher would love that Ma-Harry!" The elf exclaimed. "Kreacher will grant Harry's wish of snacks!" And with the snap of his tiny fingers, the elf had vanished. No doubt to go make the food for their marathon.
An hour later, Kreacher was seated on a cushion on the floor, munching away on some popcorn. Harry was wrapped in a blanket on the loveseat, and Hermione was spread out on the couch across from him as the movie played out on the screen.
Kreacher had never seen anything like it before, and was completely fascinated with the way the witches and wizards in the magic box didn't respond to his comments. His reactions were more entertaining for Harry and Hermione than the movie itself.
'Kreacher has a lot to learn about muggle living,' Harry thought to himself.
Two movies later, Harry was passed out. Kreacher was asking Hermione all sorts of questions, especially ones on how to work the magic wand that controlled the television. As Hermione was showing him how to turn it on and off and how to switch channels, the alarms started to go off.
They had placed wards all around the home to alert them if someone was trying to get in. Their home was under the Fidelius Charm in order to protect Harry and Teddy from any rogue Death Eaters.
How could someone have found them?
Wands at the ready and Kreacher standing by, they opened the door to put a stop to the frantic knocking. Harry shouted "STUPEFY" as soon Hermione flung the door open.
A tall brunette boy fell face first into the threshold. He was covered in dirt and blood. His robes had rips and twigs were sticking out of his hair.
Harry gave Hermione a puzzled look, but levitated the intruder and turned him over.
Hermione gasped, "Theodore Nott?!"
Harry stood there staring at the man that had stumbled into his home looking like death warmed over. Theodore Nott was covered in bruises, cuts, blood, and dirt as he stood —well floated— in front of them. "What's going on, how did you find us?" Harry demanded, wand still raised.
"Harry, he can't speak when he's stunned. Let him go and bind him, so he can talk," advised Hermione. She always was the brains of the group, able to think through situations despite the high emotions.
Harry did as he was told.
"P-please... I-I'm sss-sorry. I did...." A big, gulping breath. "I didn't have anywhere el-se to go... a p-p... a patronus... came to me. Sssaid... 'Find... find the Savior.'" He shivered violently. "My... my dad... my dad's gone. My fam-mily is g-one. He... he did...n't... didn't join th-their fight. He--he wanted me to... to be good... Follow the light."
Harry didn't have it in him to refuse the boy. Neither did Hermione. They sent Kreacher to run a warm bath and to find clean clothes. Afterwards, he was to make a meal and tea for Theodore. Maybe they could get him to calm down after he was cleaned and had a warm meal.
After Theodore had a shower and some fresh clothes, the three of them sat at the table in the kitchen waiting for their meal. Theodore had explained everything that happened leading up to the battle, as well as where he went afterwards.
It took two Calming Draughts and a whole pot of tea before he opened up. He spoke about how people had beat him for his father being a Death Eater in the first war. He spoke of his nightmares. How everything scared him. He only had his shrunken trunk, his wand, and his inheritance at Gringotts left. He had no one left. Harry felt for the kid. No friends, no family. Only the darkness and fear.
After talking, Hermione and Harry both agreed that Theo couldn't leave. He sought out Harry for help, and he would get it. The only thing left was to set up his room, and get him approved by the Ministry to live with Teddy.
Harry was the Savior of the Wizarding World, but now it was time to be Theo's Savior. It would be a challenge, but Harry wasn't worried, after all, he was The Boy Who Lived Multiple Times.
