Summary
Slow build, Hogwarts AU that takes the years one at a time kind of melding canon w/ a little canon divergence in that Bellatrix, like Snape, was offered a second chance by Dumbledore and has taught at the school ever since. As the years progress and tensions build, she faces the difficult intersection of her two identities, the different parts she plays in other people's games, and the trauma of her past that often threatens to untether her entirely. Snape is still a character in the story, but Bellatrix takes on a lot of his roles/storyline in canon.As for Hermione, in her first few years, she can't help but look up to her brilliant, yet complicated professor. As she gets older, by the time she realizes her feelings have evolved into something more...it's already too late to turn away, not that she'd even want to.

I hit a bit of writer’s block with my other story (still working on the next chapters, though), but Professor Black stories and morally grey Bellatrix stories give me life…so I wanted to try my hand at one. This idea was going to continue to live rent-free in my brain until I started writing it regardless. I hope y'all like it :)
