Chapter 1
Chapter 1:
“First day of hogwarts, dear.” Narcissa tucked a strand of hair behind Alliane LeStrange’s ear. “Are you all packed?” “Yes, Narcissa.” Ally murmured. “You have your wand?” Ally’s hand brushed against the inside pocket of her cloak to rest on the end of her wand.
Seven inches of ivy wood, intricate designs carved into it, and a dragon heartstring core. “Yes, Narcissa.” She said. “And Houdini?” Narcissa glanced at Ally’s bed and spotted the cat carrier. “For the last time, yes.” Ally smiled. Narcissa smiled back. “You’re going to do well at Hogwarts, Alliane. Very well indeed.” Ally straightened.
Narcissa smiled and kissed her on the forehead gently. Ally grinned back. “I will make you proud.” She whispered. Narcissa’s smile faded. “Of course you will. But Alliane….don’t forget what we talked about.” Ally stopped smiling. “I remember, Narcissa.”
She would not see Narcissa or be able to talk to her perhaps never again. Ally was not to mention ever knowing her or having interacted with her. No one was to know that Narcissa had helped with Alliane’s upbringing. Ally’s mother, Bella LeStrange, had been to busy to take care of Ally. So Narcissa had been Ally’s main caregiver for most of her life. But from this moment forward, Ally was to forget Narcissa.
Ally enveloped Narcissa in a tight hug. Narcissa squeaked, hesitated, and hugged her back. She released Ally and sighed. “We will meet again one day, Alliane. Possibly many, many years from now. But we will…hug again. I will be watching you from afar. Make me proud.” Ally nodded. She grabbed her suitcase and cat carrier. Her suitcase was average sized, and contained all she would be needing. She had very few personal belongings. Narcissa led Ally to the fireplace in the main room and picked up the small pot next to it. Ally reached a hand forward and took a handful of floo powder. She stepped into the fireplace, took one last look at the hidden house she’d grown up in, and met Narcissas gaze. Narcissa nodded. Ally took a deep breath. “Platform 9 and 3/4.” She said loudly and threw the floo powder down. Ally watched Narcissa’s face through the green flames before the fire swallowed her up.
