Chapter 3
Trent Bailey runs through the trees trying to get away from the tracker jackers he’d accidentally discovered.
Tripping and stumbling through the forest he tells himself to keep going.
“You’re almost there. Keep going. You need to get back to your godbrother.”
He can’t let Harry down. He can’t let Sirius and Remus down.
He wants them to be proud of him and they won’t be proud if he can’t get away from these tracker jackers
Bursting through the trees he see the cornucopia and rushes inside. He leans against the side catching his breath.
He beams to himself when he realizes that the tracker jackers didn’t follow him.
He knew he could do it. He’s so close to winning, just two more tributes left. He can’t wait to see the look on Harry’s face when he’s announced victor.
Sitting down to rest for a moment he looks off to the distance, daydreaming about what’ll happen when he wins.
So distracted he doesn’t notice anyone else in the cornucopia.
He doesn’t hear them stalking slowly behind them.
He doesn’t see them grab a spear.
Trent Bailey doesn’t feel anything when he’s stabbed straight through, the pointed end sticking out of his chest.
Trent Bailey dies with a smile on his face thinking about his favorite godbrother and hoping to make him proud.
