Chapter 2
Humans are such fragile beings, you can either break them physically or mentally. But there are those who will always get back up on their feet no matter what, like a fucking pesky little cockroach.
Severina should know, after all, she doesn’t live in such a good neighborhood let alone a home. Always constantly watching your back, because you just can’t trust anyone these days. She has watched people get mugged, stab, shot, and killed and watched homeless children hunt rats to cook for dinner just to survive this horrid world.
She used to think that to survive you have to be careful who you trust. Although Severina had her own faults and try to amend them, she never expected her friend to betray her like that, oh how wrong she was, to survive is to NEVER trust anyone. Lily and Black taught her that.
And now she hides in the shadows, trying to blend in the background so that people won’t notice her as she goes to her favorite spot.
The Whomping willow used to be her favorite but after THAT, she was scared to even go near it. So, instead, she found a new one in the forbidden forest, not too far from the castle and Hogsmeade just to be safe, since she doesn’t want to encounter any more creatures like Lupin.
She sat down at the bottom of a tree overlooking a frozen pond and started reading her potions book, correcting it from left to right and creating new spells. She didn’t mind much the cold or the snow that started falling if it meant being away from people. She wanted to be able to at least have a bit of time to herself at least on the weekend without people pranking her or taunting her into a fight even if it was tolerating the cold.
She could never afford warm clothes or even proper ones on a normal day, but she was smart enough to look for heating charms and tweak them a bit to give her more warmth and to last longer.
After some time, Severina swiftly looked away from her book when she heard a snap. She quickly pulled out her wand and pointed it in the direction of the noise.
“Who’s there?” Severina shouted.
“Come out before I find you myself and hex you into oblivion. “ She threatened into the unknown being.
Then a stag came forward and looked her in the eye.
“Oh... it’s just a bloody stag.” She said to herself and let out a sigh of relief. She lowered her wand and pocketed it again and held out a hand.
“Come here, I’m not going to hurt you, I’m sorry I scared you. I was just being paranoid again.” She told the deer but it backed away.
“I guess you don’t like me too, huh?” she whispered as she lowered her hand and went back to sit again.
“Look at me, deprived of socialization that I’m talking to a deer.” Exasperated the witch as she picks up her book and started reading again, ignoring the stag as she thought that it will eventually go away.
But instead, it moved toward her and nudge her arm. Severina smiled at the regal creature and moved her arm to stroke it's head. The stag lay beside her and let her stroke him.
“Well, it seems like I was wrong then, at least you’re the first. Why are you here aren’t you afraid to be so close to people? Then again you’re in a forest full of mystical beings that could be lurking somewhere. You have such beautiful antlers, like a crown.” Severina rambled on to the animal as it listens to her. When the sun started to set Severina stood up and the stag looked up at her.
“Well. I best be back on my way, don’t want to be here at night, but you be careful…thank you for listening to me, I’ll see you around.” Severina smiled and patted the deer’s head as a goodbye and walk towards the castle.
The stag waited a few minutes, making sure she was gone before standing up and morphing into a man. There stood James Potter looking in the direction where Severina had left’ before walking heading towards the same castle.
