The Prisoner’s Unspoken Code
The first time Ginny realized that the constant stream of Dementors weren’t the only thing vying to harm her, was two and a half months since she had come to the island prison.
With Sirius having escaped, and Bellatrix had become an empty husk of a being (something that both the cousins had warned her would happen occasionally, especially after really bad Dementor visits), making her completely dazed and apathetic.
That’s when Ginny, who had been content on watching a spider spin it’s web in one corner of her cell, heard whispering.
“Yeah Black is gone and Bella is completely out of it.” “So she’s completely alone?” “I almost feel bad for the girl…”
And from around the corner came the Lestrange Brothers and Dolohov terrifying grin plastered on their face, their eyes were filled with a desire that sent a shiver up her spine.
Out of the corner of her eye she glanced at her neighbour but the woman was still dazed out.
“Oh don’t look at her, she’s not gonna do anything.” They said with smiles that would haunt her forever.
The screams that penetrated the halls did not stop for a long time.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
After the first couple of times Ginny learnt to fight back against the older men, and a strange grudging respect was formed. None like each other and often would try to kill the other but Ginny had forcibly ended whatever idea they had about her being weak.
Of course the worst days were when the Dementors had just come by, draining all the good memories she had.
It had been over a year since Sirius escaped, and no news of his fate had ventured into the prison, but Ginny was sure that even if he wasn’t a free man, he was alive.
Besides she wasn’t able to concentrate on him when something interesting suddenly happened…
Barry Crouch Jr.
He was an interesting character, he had a weird personality akin to that of a snake, but one thing that caught her eye was his walk. The way he walked was the same way everyone else did thanks to the shackles on their legs.
But this Barry seemed to being trying too hard to be all prim and proper.
She locked eyes with Bellatrix, both immediately knew what was going on, of course they refused to say a word. The Prisoners of Azkaban might hate each other but they have an unspoken code to never oust another prisoner.
Besides, Ginny wasn’t exactly thinking for the benefit of the people who had locked her in, so she just sat back with a mad gleam in her eye waiting for the chaos to start.
