Chapter 3

Bakugo stomped up the stairs to the nerd’s apartment and knocked a little louder than he should have. Izuku hadn’t come to school in a few days and people were starting to whisper. Mostly about Bakugo and what he had said to the nerd a day before he stopped coming to school. When no one answered his second knock Bakugo looked over at a neighbor that was just coming home with a bag.

“Oi! You know where Auntie Inko and Izuku are?” Bakugo shouted. The old man looked over and blinked, then gave Bakugo a kind smile.

“Oh, the Midoriyas? They left for America! Inko was so excited about it when she told me!” The old man said with a nod “Seemed very sudden but I know they haven’t been together as a family in so long! They must not have wanted to wait!” Bakugo seemed surprised that Auntie Inko and the nerd would leave without saying good-bye, but he just scoffed and thanked the old man roughly.

Now he could go back to school and tell all the extras that the nerd wasn’t dead, he had just gone to America with his mom to be with his dad. He secretly hoped the nerd had a better time in America…

AT HITOSHI’S SCHOOL…

The Monday after Izuku was born Hitoshi grudgingly went back to school. He had no friends there and the teachers often side eyed him or avoided calling on him in class. Hitoshi had given up on any sort of social life, so he just went to school, did his schoolwork, and went home. His parents (and now Izuku) were the only people he needed in his life. And of course, his Aunties and Uncles from UA.

Hitoshi was sitting in homeroom, in the back row, when the teacher called on the class to quiet down because they were welcoming a new student all the way from America. A blonde-haired boy with a black lightning bolt in his hair came in and gave the class a massive smile.

“Hello! I’m Kaminari Denki! It’s nice to meet you!” His Japanese was slightly choppy, and his bow was awkward, making the class chuckle at him, but the teacher shut it down with a swift glare.

“Why don't you take a seat next to Yamada-Aizawa there in the back?” Their teacher said kindly, pointing to the only empty seat in the class that happened to be next to Hitoshi. Denki bounced to the back, taking out his supplies as the teacher started on their lesson. He looked over at Hitoshi who was trying his best not to look over at the sunny American but failing.

“It’s nice to meet you, I hope we can be friends. Can I sit with you at lunch?” Denki whispered over at him. Hitoshi gave out a little snort.

“If you still want to at lunch time…” Hitoshi mumbled back. Denki tilted his head in confusion until the teacher called out his name and told him to pay attention. Denki startled and said “yes ma’am” starting to take notes.

At lunch time Hitoshi sat in his usual corner of the lunchroom, going over some notes for his next class when a body slid next to him.

“I almost didn’t see you! This school is so big, and this lunch looks so good! We don’t have anything like this in America!” Hitoshi just stared in shock, a noodle half out of his mouth as Denki rambled on about getting lost and forgetting how to pay until someone helped him.

“Um what are you doing next to me?” Hitoshi asked stupidly when Denki took a breath.

“You said I could sit next to you at lunch.” Denki said with a confused head tilt. It reminded Hitoshi of a confused cat.

“Didn’t someone warn you about… my quirk?” Hitoshi said, looking down at his lunch.

“Someone mentioned you had a villain quirk and I thought it was weird that you had a quirk that made someone a villain, but then they said that’s not what they meant and that you have a quirk that washes people’s brains and that confused me more, cause I thought maybe it was a memory quirk and that doesn’t seem villainy, not that I think ANY quirk can be a villain quirk that’s just silly, so I asked a teacher, and he explained the kid meant a BRAIN WASHING quirk and I just thought that was the coolest thing! You want to be a hero, right? You can do so much good with your quirk!” Hitoshi couldn’t take any more of the sunshine and put a hand softly on Denki’s mouth. Denki went silent and blinked at him with huge innocent blue eyes. Hitoshi took a deep breath, not knowing how Denki got all that out in one damn breath and slowly took his hand off his mouth.

“…You think I could be a hero?” Hitoshi asked softly. Ok that was not what he had meant to say, but Denki’s smile got bigger.

“Hell yeah! Think about it! You could get a jumper to step back from the edge, or, or you could get a villain to let go of a hostage, or you could get a person who is in a disaster scene to calm down if they’re panicking! Your quirk has so many uses!” Denki said passionately. Hitoshi felt a cupid’s arrow slam into his chest. Shit.

“So, I love designing support items, but it’s a secret k? Cause my dad really wants me to be a hero. But I made a design I think would go perfect with your quirk! Don’t laugh cause it’s really rough!” Denki said pulling out a sketch book and turning to a page. At first Hitoshi winced, because the item at first glance looked like a muzzle, until Denki started explaining it with his usual passion. Their food had been long forgotten.

“It’s a voice modulator! I tried to base it off Present Mic’s neck speaker design, but I quickly realized that your voice might be heard over the modulator, giving you away! So, these dials change your pitch, and this throws your voice, and the speaker is here right over your mouth and if you want to get super fancy, I was thinking filters for gas and poisons!” Hitoshi felt… touched… that Denki after having said maybe six words to him and finding out his quirk had gone into such detail to… make him a support item. The drawing was very detailed too, down to the notes about wires and what speakers would work and where they should be positioned.

“You should be a support hero.” Hitoshi mumbled. He realized how close Denki and he were sitting and quickly moved just a few inches away. Denki had a tight smile and rubbed the back of his head.

“I… want to be… my quirk really hurts me sometimes… I can control electricity… but my dad is… insistent I be a hero…” Denki said, almost sadly “He won’t accept anything less than UA hero’s course…”

“My mother and father are teachers at UA. Maybe I can show them some of your work and they could convince your dad the UA support course would be better. Because this design in just a few hours? You’d be top of your class for sure.” Hitoshi said. Denki looked at him and gave him another sun filled smile.

“You really think so?” Denki said with a wobbly lip. Shit there’s another cupid’s arrow.

“I know so…” Hitoshi said. They both jumped a little when the bell rang.

“Oh crap! My lunch” Denki shouted and shoveled as much of his food into his mouth as he could. They both stood up to throw away what was left after they packed up their things, but Hitoshi had one more important thing to ask, so he touched Denki’s arm.

“Do you like cats?” Hitoshi asked. Denki lit up.

“Oh, I love cats! Their cute whiskers, and toe beans, and their soft fur!” Denki gushed. Hitoshi swore he saw sparkles around Denki’s head. With another cupid’s arrow Hitoshi was down for the count.

AFTER SCHOOL…

Hitoshi walked into house and pulled off his shoes, calling into the house in greeting.

“Hey how was school?” Hizashi asked cheerfully. He was sitting on the couch with tiny Izuku on his shoulder, sleeping. Shouta was in the kitchen making a snack, but came out with the tray when he heard his eldest walk in. Hitoshi sat next to his dad and just melted into the couch. Hizashi looked at him with a sad smile.

“That rough?” Hizashi asked.

“I think I’m in love.” Hitoshi said completely monotone. Things clattered as Shouta almost dropped his tray of tea and snacks. He quickly put the tray on the living room table as they stared at him.

“Aren’t you a little young to be in love.” Shouta asked, sitting on their love seat.

“I guess… but he’s different… everyone told him my quirk and he still talked to me like a… person.” Hitoshi said. Shouta was about to say something about a low bar, but Hizashi kicked him in the shin.

“Well tell us about him!” Hizashi said happily. Shouta glared at Hizashi and sipped his tea.

“Well, he’s American…”

“Strike one” Shouta avoided Hizashi’s second kick and Hitoshi just gave him a “really?” look.

“He’s sweet, smart, and he likes cats. He even designed me a support item because he thinks I could be a great hero…” Hitoshi said, rubbing the back of his neck.

“He sounds awesome! Maybe you should invite him to your birthday party on Saturday.” Hizashi said and it was Shouta’s turn to kick him in the shin.

“Yeah maybe…I’m going to go do my homework.” Hitoshi got up and grabbed a sweet bun off the tray, heading to his room with his backpack.

“Shouta you should really be more supportive of Hitoshi’s new friend.” Hizashi scolded. Aizawa just sipped his tea.

“I just don’t want him to get hurt…” Aizawa winced and put the tea down. He hated tea, but coffee was discouraged while breast feeding.

“He must grow up and spread his wings at some point. This new boy sounds very kind and Hitoshi seems to really like him.”

“Yeah, you are right… it must just be left over hormones…” Shouta mumbled. Izuku started making disgruntled noises, so Hizashi quickly handed him over to Shouta.

“I’m happy to see you are wearing some of Nemuri’s gifts!” Hizashi said, noticing the nursing bra with the two middle fingers. To Hizashi it just looked like a normal woman’s sports bra with clips.

“It makes them hurt less.” Shouta admitted as he unclipped one side and let Izuku latch on.

NEXT DAY…

The next morning Hitoshi was actually… excited to go to school, and even his parents noticed. When he got to school Denki was waiting for him at the gate and his smile was blinding when he caught Hitoshi’s eyes.

“Hey Hitoshi!” Denki said happily.

“Hey Denki…” Hitoshi mumbled, lifting his hand. People stared at Denki with a weird sort of shocked aw but the blonde either didn’t notice or was happy to ignore them. Hitoshi started rubbing his neck nervously and looked down.

“So… my birthday party is this Saturday and it’s going to be mostly adults, but I’d be really happy if you could come…” Hitoshi looked up when he noticed Denki was silent and he noticed the sad look on his face that seemed so out of place.

“Hitoshi I’d love to but…” Hitoshi’s heart and mind started racing. Was he going to tell Hitoshi they couldn’t be friends after all?

“I’d love to, but Saturday is training day and my dad is super strict about me going over to alpha’s houses… even with adults there…” Hitoshi blinked and let out the breath he didn’t know he was holding. It was Denki’s turn to rub the back of his head nervously.

“I’m a male omega…” Denki admitted, looking down “So my dad is always on guard and wants me to train all weekend because weekdays he works so he forces me to do homework…” Denki’s eyes started welling up with tears.

“My mother is a male omega” Hitoshi said before Denki could cry more. Denki sniffled and looked up.

“Really? It’s so uncommon and I’ve never actually met someone with a male mother…” Denki brightened up “I can’t come on Saturday, but I’ll bring you a gift on Friday to make up for it!”
Hitoshi smiled at that and just nodded.

On Friday Denki brought him a beautiful drawing of Hitoshi in a dark hero costume with his voice modular on his face and a capture weapon around his neck after Hitoshi had told him his mother was Eraserhead and his father was Present Mic. The dark costume was a mix between both of his parent’s costumes and Hitoshi almost cried. Denki had also personally made him a card and was embarrassed when he admitted he wasn’t allowed any money. Hitoshi promised he loved them both and gave him a huge hug that Denki happily returned. Denki was a little upset when Hitoshi admitted it was the first gift and birthday card he had gotten from someone his age since he got his quirk.

Hizashi framed the drawing for him when he got home, and Hitoshi put the birthday card in the center of his desk. At the birthday party Hizashi jokingly put a sticky bow on Izuku’s head much to the displeasure of Izuku and Shouta and told Hitoshi happy birthday. Shouta gave him his actual gift, which was his own capture weapon and the promise of lessons as soon as he was healed enough to give them. Hitoshi cried and hugged both of his parents. He got more items from his Aunties and Uncles, but the capture weapon was for sure his favorite.

Ok Izuku was his favorite but the capture weapon was a very close second.
