The consequences of love
Sirius would never forget the moment that he kissed his husband for the first time.
Neither James nor Sirius had planned it but that just made the occasion all the more special.
After a long day filled with sombre discussions and tearful revelations, the two indulged in some much-needed comfort. They were settling down for the evening in James' room, like always, when it happened. Despite being offered his own room, Sirius found himself drawn to James' company- he found that James fought off the nightmares that attacked his mind while he was vulnerable.
They were sat with their backs against the wall, leaning against each other, when James leaned down slightly to press a kiss to Sirius' forehead.
Or at least, he meant to.
It was no accident that James decided to meet Sirius' lips instead but it was a surprise to the both of them nonetheless.
For a moment, it was just them.
The two felt no colossal change in their relationship because they didn't need to change. They were and had always been 'James and Sirius' and 'Sirius and James'. They had been best friends since their first meeting and their new form of love wouldn't stop that.
Euphemia and Fleamont were thrilled with the boys. Monty even went as far as to say that 'he expected Sirius to be made an official member of the family when they were both ready'.
Years went by and ever kiss felt just as loving. Every kiss tasted just as sweet.
With Lily joining their relationship, things just got better.
Not to mention when their little bundle of joy arrived.
Their family was perfect and Sirius had never felt more loved.
Lily and James completed him in every way. It hurt him in every way possible when they died. The hole in his heart was only ripped open further when he was torn away from his child. He couldn't be more grateful for the second change with his kid. He would make up for the lost time and the hurt for the both of them. Sirius and Harry would be alright. No matter what though, Sirius knew that he would never be able to love anyone again. Not in the way he loved Lily and James.
After all, how could you love when you gave it all away?
