Wonder

Harry's POV

"Freak! Get your ass down here right now and make us breakfast!"

Uncle Vernon screamed from the other side of the door whilst unlocking the unnecessarily large amount of locks. Once he unlocked all of the locks he turned and stomped down the stairs. With that I scramble to my feet while taking care to not aggravate the wounds on my back. I walk down the stairs as fast as my short legs would allow me. When I reach the kitchen I immediately begin making my 'family's' breakfast; I make sure not to burn anything. Burning anything will lead to a worse beating than what it will already be.

As I finish plating the food my Uncle and Aunt sit down at the table and wait for their food, seconds later my cousin, the only person who has ever given a shit about me enters. Dudley Dursley unlike his parents is quite good looking as well as kind, he has golden hair that perfectly complements his brown eyes and well built body. As he walked over to the table he glanced at his parents to make sure they weren't watching before smiling at me, it may not seem like much but Dudley was the only person who truly cares about me. Once he was sat at the table with his parents I carried their plates over and set them in front of their respective person. I then walk back to the kitchen to begin cleaning up.

I begin to get bored and decide to listen in on what was being said at the table. "So Dudley how is it going at that boring school you're going to?" Vernon asked his 'oh so precious' son. I smirked in my head knowing that the school Dudley goes to is the same as mine' and his parents would hate it if they found out. The extreme stupidity it takes for them to not know that their golden boy goes to Hogwarts, a school that teaches witches and wizards magic. They hate magic so much they can' even realise that their little Dudykins is a wizard. "It's going fine dad, I've made so many friends there, I love it!" I smile at Dudley discreetly, I know how hard it was for him to make friends. Once that was said I shuffled into the dining room to collect the dirty dishes to wash, and walked back into the kitchen to do just that.

It was 11:58 and I was sitting on my bed with Dudley waiting for my birthday, which is 2 minutes away. I will soon be 16. We were sitting there talking before he had to go when out of nowhere I felt pain, unbearable pain, everywhere. The pain began to get worse and worse, I felt arms envelope around me before I passed out from the pain.

When I woke up again the pain had died down and I felt relatively okay. I began to slowly sit up and look around, noticing that Dudley was still sitting with me. I notice Dudley is staring at me with... wonder? Once he finally notices that I'm awake he begins to cry. Why is he crying? I slowly go over and wrap my skinny short arms around him and say "Why are you crying Dud?" I feel him pull me closer to him before he begins to speak "I thought I was gonna lose you Harry! I was so scared!" I pulled away from him and began crying myself before saying in a sincere tone "Duds you will never lose me even if I die I'll always be with you whenever you need me, okay?" I know Dudley has a hard time trusting people after what happened when we were little, and I am the only one he truly trusts, that's the only reason I'm still here.

As we both start to calm down we hear soft tapping on the window so I slowly get up and open the window for the owl to elegantly glide in. He was beautiful. As he lands on my bed he sticks his leg out so I can take the letter from him, once I take the letter I give him some of Hedwig's treats before sending him on his way. I look back at the letter in my hands and see it's from Gringotts. Why would they be sending me a letter? Well I guess there is only one way to find out. I open it and begin reading.

Dear Mr.Potter,

We at Gringotts would like to congratulate you on receiving your creature inheritance. We request that you to come to Gringotts at your earliest convenience to discuss your vaults and inheritance

Inheritance? I thought my family didn't have any creature blood though? Well I guess a trip to Gringotts is required. As I finish reading the letter I hand it to Dudley so he can read it as well. Once he finishes reading it he says "I'm coming with you." He said it in a way that made it clear there would be no arguments on that subject, not that I would have argued against that anyways. I just nodded and began collecting my minuscule amount of things and shrunk it all down. I put everything in my pocket before Dudley and I grabbed the letter and stated 'Gold'. I suddenly felt an uncomfortable pulling feeling behind my navel before we were suddenly stood in Gringotts.
