Comparison Is Killin' Me Slowly I Think I Think Too Much 'Bout Kids Who Don't Know Me

Cedric was bleeding all over the floor by the time a professor showed up. After you hit him in the jaw you managed to get in a few more good hits. You knocked him out fairly quick. This wasn’t the first time you’d been in a fight.

After that you were pulled away from him by someone? You were pretty sure it was McGonagall. You were very promptly taken up to see Dumbledore. He sighed when you were brought into his office.

“Miss Potter. Please, sit.” He said wearily.

“Y/n is fine.” You replied.

“Miss Potter. Frankly, I expected better of you. Cedric Diggory has been proven guilty of all allegations made by you and Miss Chang. There was an internal investigation, and he has been expelled. That does not, however, justify your behavior.” He started.

“I was defending myself from my abuser and the abuser of my friend. I will not apologize for my actions.” You said in a calm but firm manner.

“You will be punished for fighting with another student. Detention every day for two weeks, 50 points will be redacted from Slytherin, and you will be assigned a teacher to assist after school hours.” He continued, “And you will write a letter to Mr. Diggory expressing remorse for harming him.”

“No. I will do everything but that.” You argued.

“Miss Potter,” He said with a slight eye roll, “It is one of the conditions of his expulsion. He is writing apology letters to you and Miss Chang. If he does not get one from you, he will remain on campus.”

You felt a wave of nausea hit you suddenly. This motherfucker was really trying to get you to apologize to Cedric? And if you don’t your abuser will live on campus with you for years?

You swallowed your revulsion and thought about Cho. You knew it would kill her to be so close to him again. “I agree. May I be excused now to write this letter?”

“One more thing Miss Potter, this school can do wonders for you. It did for your parents. They were some of my most prized pupils, but, if you do not follow our rules things here will be difficult. You must accept your role.” He explained condescendingly.

Then under his breath he murmured, “You’ve given us enough trouble already.”

“Please elaborate, sir.” You asked in a sickly, sweet, sarcastic voice.

“When you were brought here, we hoped you would be a Gryffindor and it would be better if you kept your private life, well a bit more private. I’m not instructing you to do anything but a break from boys, or friendships that could be questionable, might be best.” He answered.

“Friendships that might be questionable? Do you mean Cho, and the fact people think we’re lesbians? Or do you mean Mattheo, because a Potter and a Riddle shouldn’t be friends?” You asked, now pissed off.

“Stick closer to your brother. He seems to be on a better path. Learn from him, and Miss Potter, keep your head down.” He said, “You are excused.”

You left quickly. You were so pissed. You felt like a colossal fuck-up.

It wasn’t until you had walked down a hall, turned a few times, and went up a flight of stairs that you realized you didn’t know where you were going.

You paused for a moment to think before you made a decision.

Then you stormed off towards your destination.

You hesitated outside the Gryffindor common rooms. You hadn’t thought about it before, but you didn’t know if you’d be able to get in. Luckily it wasn’t an issue.

There wasn’t really anyone in the common room, but you did see Hermione writing in a corner, so you went up to her.

“Hey. Is Harry in his dorm room?” You asked.

“Yeah, I think so.” Hermione replied with a smile. You actually really liked her even though most everyone thought she was prissy. You knew she was more trouble than she appeared and you thought that was fun.

You headed up to see your brother and was disappointed but not surprised to find his door unlocked. You were both the same age but you had always acted sort of maternal towards him.

You knocked hard and a voice from inside yelled, “Come in.”

You walked in, angrily, and said, “Dumbledore just reemed my ass and told me to be more like you. He told me to get rid of my friends.”

Harry looked up and arched a brow in your direction, “What's wrong with being me?”

“Nothing.” You explained, “But I’m not you.”

Harry nodded and set down the book he was reading. He got up to face you. He sighed and said, “I know you don’t want to hear it but we do have a family name to uphold.”

“I don’t give a shit about being a Potter. We have no ties to the name other than these damn scars.” You seethed.

“They were our parents. We are their legacy.” Harry angrily replied.

Your anger was bubbling back towards the surface. “We never knew them. Why should I have to be all high and mighty for them?”

“Maybe you should get rid of your friends.” Harry snapped. “You shouldn’t be cuddling up with the son of the man who tried to kill us.”

“Mattheo has done nothing against you and has supported me throughout my entire time in this horrible fucking place.” You replied.

“If it’s so bad, leave.” He said, “Go back to the Dursleys.”

“I at least have some support here. I can’t trust you to help deal with the shit that happened under those stairs anymore.” You replied.

“You need so damn self-respect.” Harry snarled, “Stop crushing on the opposing side and for God's sake stop being a lezzie in public.”

You flinched at his voice. You flinched again at his second sentence.

“Fuck you Harry.” You practically whispered, “You act like your so much better when you flirt with Draco every chance you fucking get.”

You left without another word.

And then you ran.
