The Annual Sleepover

The news about the events at the World Cup had spread fast and people were now terrified to leave their houses in fear of what the death eaters might do next. He was scared but he also felt a sense of resignation, having known for a while this was a fight he would eventually have to face. Voldemort had appeared so often that he wasn’t surprised there was signs of the man turning up once again but this nonchalance was worrying Severus greatly and although he knew this he couldn’t change his way of thinking. His guardian had been waiting at the gates of the house when they had apparated back looking even more stressed than he had ever seen before. He had been hugged to within an inch of his life, checked all over for injuries, hugged again and then they were given time to explain the story which lead to more hugging, a lecture about letting his wand out of his sight, more hugging, praise for following directions for once and finally more hugging.

Ever since that night, Severus seemed to want to spend every minute by his side and although he enjoyed the company he was also feeling a bit smothered. He wanted to ask wether he would be allowed to have his friends over for the usual birthday party but was scared that the man would decide on sitting right beside him the whole night. He eventually just decided to talk to the man about the constant clinging so he could hopefully have a little bit of space before the closeness got too much and he got unfairly angry.

“Severus.” He started, distracting the man from a book. They were both sitting on the couch in the living room with Remus helping Sirius, the two of them sitting on the floor in the corner, bundles of papers surrounding them about houses.

“Yes, you alright?”

“I just wanted to talk to you about erm, the erm, well I don’t really know how to say it the well the recent clinginess. I know you are worried after what happened at the cup and you are probably just wanting to keep me safe but it is getting to be a bit much. I love spending time with you, don’t ever think otherwise, but I also need space or I’m gonna blow up at you and that isn’t fair because you are just worried and erm yes that’s what I want to talk about.” He rambled quickly trying to get his point across.

“You think I’m being clingy?” Severus asked seeming a bit confused. “I don’t spend that much time watching you. We just happen to be in the same place.”

Sirius snorted from the floor obviously having been listening in to the conversation. “Just happen to be in the same room my ass. You done paperwork in the garden the other day when Harry was tending to the plants, despite the wind being so strong that it was knocking your papers all over the place.”

“I just wanted fresh air.” Severus defended.

“What about the time Harry decided to make dinner and you also made your potion in the kitchen, despite having a perfectly good lab, and then proceeded to explode the potion all over the food he made ending in us having to get takeout.” Remus added smiling.

“I had another potion already in the lab so didn’t have space.” Severus said unconvincingly.

“Or my personal favourite, the time Harry was doing his homework in the library so you decided go lie on the ground to do your potions journal even though you have a desk in your office.” Sirius said laughing so hard the sentence was more of a wheeze than words. He had to refrain from laughing whenever he thought of that day, Severus Snape, the bat of the dungeon, had been laying on the floor at his feet like a toddler writing in a journal.

“Ok, maybe I have been a tad clingy.”

“A tad, sorry to break it to you but I would go with extravagantly clingy.” Remus corrected.

“Alright I have been extravagantly clingy but I’m just a worried parent so I think that is allowed. You are my son and a group of people known to follow a mad man, who is trying far too hard to hurt you, just attacked a very public event so I don’t want to be away from you so I can protect you.” Severus huffed.

“Could you protect me from a bit further away, or maybe like a check in every hour? I mean if you are still alright with me having a sleepover for my birthday you can’t exactly be hovering in my bedroom as we are all partying.”

“Fine, I will drop back a bit but I still don’t want you leaving anywhere without one of us with you. Also of course I’m alright with you having your sleepover. In fact I have already checked with everyone that they are all good with the regular arrangements.”

“I know not to go anywhere on my own, I’m not stupid and thanks, that will save Hedwig a rather long journey.”

“I know your not stupid but your also a teenager and they do stupid things because it’s a part of growing up but right now, those stupid things have to not involve you getting anywhere near Death Eaters or I will end up taking Sirius’s old cell for committing murder.”

“Eh better you than me again.” Sirius joked.

“I promise to be careful, I have had way to much danger and I am not even 14 yet.” He sighed.

“I hate that I couldn’t save you from that.”

“You did save me though, you got me out of the Dursleys and you are always there to pick me up after I have found myself in a situation that I shouldn’t be in.”

“I would rather you were never in them to begin with.” Severus smiled sadly.

“There was nothing you could do to stop it but now I have you I won’t ever have to go through anything alone again.”

“Not only him, you also have us two.” Sirius called morphing into padfoot and curling into his lap as Remus got up and sat next to him.

“Yes I have all of yous.” He smiled snuggling into the group hug.

Everyone would be coming over in about an hour and he was currently stressing trying to find time to decorate the cake, put up the decorations and finishing up bits and pieces that needed tidying in his room. He hadn’t meant to leave everything so last minute but he had been busy trying to finish his last essay for summer homework so he could just enjoy the last month of the holidays. He was failing to blow up a balloon when the timer went of that signified the cake was now cool causing him to let out a groan.

“Erm this doesn’t look like a good time to say this but Severus told me to inform you he is just about to leave and get Hermione because he has some potion going that is time sensitive and this is the only place where he will have time to go.” Remus said observing the half blown up balloons and the unset table.

“I still need to do this and decorate the cake and my room still needs to be dusted and hoovered.” He whined.

“Well I can help with the last bit this second.” Remus pointed his wand into the bedroom and cast two spells before turning round to smile at him. “Magic really is a wonderful thing when you are running out of time. Now I will go recruit Sirius and we will blow up the balloons while you go finish your cake because you seem to be struggling immensely with that task.”

“Thank you you are a life saver.” He said before running out the room down to the kitchen to decorate.

He heard the door opening just as he put the finishing touch on the cake and he let out a sigh of relief that he had managed to do it just in time. Although, he didn’t get enough time to wash his hands of cake before he was being crushed in a hug with bushy brown hair blocking his vision.

“As much as I would love to return your welcome, I am currently covered in food and I don’t think you want to join me in that past time.”

“Sorry, it’s just since the incident at the cup I have been so worried about you and what that must have brought up for you so it’s nice to see your doing alright.”

“Surprisingly I haven’t really been affected much by the cup. Tbh I think it’s because I knew it was rather inevitable, maybe closer than I expected but hey ho what can you do.” As he finished speaking he turned to wash his hands missing the concerned look shared between Hermione and Severus. “Now let’s not let things like that ruin tonight. Everyone will start to arrive soon so I’m going to take the cake up and then we can chat in the living room while we wait for everyone.”

The next person to arrive was obviously Draco who like Hermione immediately hugged him after coming out the fireplace but unlike Hermione he also received a welcome kiss. Then after Draco, Theo and Blaize arrived followed by Pansy and Daphne then Millicent then finally Tracey. The three adults said a quick hello and goodbye to everyone then they were upstairs to start the party.

“Ok anyone got any fun game ideas.” Blaize asked after they had danced and had some cake.

“Ooo how about kiss marry kill?” Pansy suggested getting enthusiastic agrees from the rest of the girls.

“And erm how do we play that?” Draco asked.

“Someone picks three random people and you have to say who you would kiss, who you would marry and who you would kill out of those people.” Pansy explained.

“I’m up for it.” He said and the others all nodded their head in agreement. “Pansy you start and then we will go from there.”

“Ok Daphne, Ron Weasley, Seamus Finnegan or Dean Thomas?”

“Ewww Pansy, why are you starting of so mean, why would you even put the thought of Ron out there, he is definitely getting killed. I guess I will marry Dean and kiss Seamus because I can barely understand that boys accent.”

“Now it’s your turn to ask Daphne.”

“Erm, Blaize, Lavender Brown, Susan Bones or Padma Patil?”

“Kill Lavender, that girl seems like a psycho to me, kiss Padma and marry Susan and I will ask Harry. Cedric Diggory, Oliver Wood and Lee Jordan?”

“Why did you go so old?”

“Just answer the question.”

“Alright, Kiss Cedric, Marry Oliver and sorry Lee but I’m gonna have to kill you.”

“You will not be kissing anyone.” Draco grumbled jealously causing him to giggle and peck the boys cheek before continuing the game.

“Hermione, Cormac McLaggen, Neville Longbottom and Seamus Finnegan?”

“Kill Cormac, merlin his ego his too big for that common room, then probably kiss Seamus and marry Neville. Draco, Fred, George and Bill Weasley?”

“I would kiss Bill and to be honest I wouldn’t even know what twin I had married so I guess it doesn’t matter who dies and who I marry.”

“Fred has more freckles across his nose and George has a slightly narrower face.” He told Draco.

“Nice to know you spent so long looking at other guys.” Draco pouted. “But alright then I will marry George and kill Fred, don’t know why just a random guess. Millicent, Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet and Katie Bell? Don’t think I don’t notice the way you stare at them in quidditch games.”

Millicent blushed before answering. “Kiss Angelina, Marry Katie and kill Alicia although I would rather kiss all three.”

“Fair enough, have you seen there asses on those broomsticks.” Theo called.

“Why do you think I’m staring at them during games.” Millicent answered sarcastically.

“I think we should play truth or dare now, this game isn’t spicy enough.” Daphne giggled.

“Ok, I’ll start.” Tracey offered. “Pansy, truth or dare?”

“Truth.”

“Out of all the boys in the room who would you kiss?”

“Good question, well as much as I would love to Harry and Draco are out the question if I don’t want murdered tonight. So probably Blaize sorry Theo but your too studious for me.”

“Haha studying doesn’t get your everything.” Blaize stuck his tongue out at Theo.

“It does get you qualifications though.”

“Irrelevant right now but due to that low blow I’m just gonna direct back to the game. Hermione truth or dare?”

“Truth.”

“Did you ever purposely set crookshanks loose in Ron’s room?”

“Of course I did, once I knew it was bothering him how could I resist?”

“Oh I love how secretly devious you are.” He laughed high-fiving the girl.

“Well let’s see how devious I can be, Harry truth or dare?”

“Dare.” He said smugly not believing she could give that bad of a dare.

“Let Draco give you a hickey.” It was now Hermione’s turn to smile smugly as he blushed from head to toe.

“What?” He squeaked.

“You heard me, let Draco give you a hickey.”

“What if Severus sees it, or merlin forbid Remus and Sirius sees it. I would never escape the jokes.”

“Doesn’t have to be a really bad one and it can be low enough that it can be hidden or you can chicken out and do the forfeit of getting cold water dunked on you.”

“I am not a chicken.”

“Then let him do it.” Hermione challenged, a glint in her eye showing she didn’t think he would do it. That glint was what made him decide his next move. He pulled down the collar of his top to reveal his collarbone and tilted his neck a bit.

“Go on Draco.” He heard Blaize and Theo whistle as Pansy and Daphne cheered then he felt Draco’s breath on his neck and he shivered a bit and then there was lips on his collarbone and he had to bite his lip to prevent embarrassing himself. It felt like it last forever but when Draco sat back he didn’t think it had been long enough. “That what you wanted.” He tried to say smugly but it came out a bit to breathy for that effect to come across.

“Erm yes that was perfect, spot on.” Hermione said.

“Ok my turn I guess, Tracey truth or dare?”

“Truth.”

“Do you have a crush on anyone right now?”

“Yes.” Tracey blushed.

“Who is it?”

“Only one question at a time.” She chided. “Daphne truth or dare?”

“Dare.”

“Go and tell Sirius he is a good dog, pat his head and then just walk away.”

“Oh my god please don’t make me do that.”

“I think that is a great dare.” He laughed at Daphne’s expense. “Actually he will still be in the kitchen so it’s a perfect time for it so let’s go, me and Tracey will come down to make sure you fulfill it.”

The three of them went downstairs, Tracey and him waiting outside the door as Daphne walked into the room and up to Sirius. The man looked up from the paper and looked at the girl curiously.

“Do you need help with anything?” Sirius asked kindly.

“You are a good dog.” Daphne blushed as she said it then reached out and patted Sirius on the head before hi-tailing it out of the room leaving him and Tracey laughing hysterically at the man’s face.

“Harry, I can hear you laughing, may I get an explanation?”

“Daphne picked dare and Tracey is a lot meaner than she looks.” He called before heading back upstairs with the girls still laughing his ass off.

“I’m glad you guys enjoy my pain.” Daphne grumbled as everyone laughed at the recount of the dare.

The rest of the game went on like that, some people getting Dares that included embarrassing themselves in front of Remus, Sirius or Severus, truths about crushes, and apparently everyone’s favourite which was making him and Draco do a move from Dirty Dancing (a muggle movie Hermione had forced Pansy to watch when they had hung out the other week) which they managed to do, for a second, then he was landing on top of Draco on the floor.

In the end it was a fun night with all of them just getting to enjoy being teenagers without thinking about the current situation in the real world.
