Chapter 二
The first step, “From full moon to full moon keep a mandrake leaf in your mouth” Draco read. A whole month without taking the leaf from his mouth. He figured he would drink lots of soup to not accidentally chew up the leaf. Draco was sure Pansy would think he was out of his mind. He had never had any interest in eating soup. After a full month of eating it, he might be a soup connoisseur. Who knows, the next step was much easier. “Step two, find a small crystal phial that receives the pure rays of the moon, put the leaf in one of your own hairs inside the phial.” This was incredibly dependent on the person in question, which in this case with himself.
“Draco,” someone called startling him so badly he nearly dropped the small stack of papers onto the rain-dampened ground. Turning to see who had called his name, he found Seamus. “You are the best not to startle me again Seamus, I nearly dropped my work,” he said sternly. Seamus sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, “sorry Draco, you just look lonely I thought you could use some company.” Draco smiled, “thank you company would be nice.”
Instead of inquiring about Draco ‘s work, Seamus began a long rant on how Harry had become a love magnet after he changed to style over the summer. Seamus also confessed that while he and Dean were still going strong, he couldn’t help but have a bit of a gay panic over Harry. This made Draco laugh. “I love Dean I promise, but Harry is so hot,” Seamus pouted. “it’s all right I’m sure your boyfriend knows you love him,” Draco assured. It wasn’t as though he hadn’t understood what Seamus meant. Here he had an alert to him, Draco was firmly convinced it had always been there, he just started being honest with his style, and grew into his body a bit. That’s when people normally start to notice. “Draco. Draco!” Seamus called. “Ah, Sorry” Draco apologized, waking from his thoughts.
“It's no big deal, man, just wanted to let you know my future husband is waiting for me. I got to go.”
“Of course, have a good rest of your day!”
“Yeah, you are too. Don’t work yourself to death Draco,” Seamus calls over his shoulder as he walks toward the silhouette of Dean standing inside. “Yeah okay,” Draco calls back.
Turning back to his papers he read the next steps. (If you want the whole process look it up.) Once he was finished reading, he figured he might as well get to work right away. He got up and headed back to Snape’s classroom. Unsurprising to him, Snape had already prepared a mandrake leaf, crystal phial, and Deaths-head Hawk Moth. All the ingredients he didn’t have to find himself. He picked them up and shut them in his bag. The full moon is tomorrow night. He would begin an almost 3-month process the next night. Seeking out dark places or moonlit places or not stepped on places.
The next night at supper he slipped the mandrake leaf into his mouth watching it between his cheek and his teeth. Over the next month, he found where to get the rest of the ingredients and where to store the potion, during different steps. He found that the forbidden forest had most of what he needed. During the next full moon, he put His mandrake leaf inside the crystal phial, that he had been bathing in the rays of the moon. Yanked out one of his hairs, yelping slightly and dropping it into the mix. He then made his way to Hagrid's hut where he had found a small patch of grass. That he had covered with a sealed box. He pulled the box off and tapped a drop of dew into the phial. And finally, he walked back to his room and added the Death's-head Hawk Moth.
Burying the mixture between two trees he had marked with red paint, he waited for the next electrical storm. Waiting was easy now that he didn’t have to hold a leaf in his mouth. Pansy questioned him saying “Draco sweetie why don’t you eat something besides soup, there are much more appetizing foods.” Draco had almost spat up soup in his mouth forcing it down he gasped and began to chuckle.
