Chapter 10
There were times when Narcissa fingers itched to take the ship cleaning to herself, to make her fingers raw with cleaning the ship and leave behind not a single trace. When the soft bed she sleep in feel too soft to stay in it and the silky covers made her suffocated. When she did all the food on the ship with or without Jack or Lucius approval. When she stayed cooped in their cabin all day just to sneak outside at night to look at the stars.
Lucius quickly put a stop to those type of thoughts.
He explained to her that she didn't need to clean, cook or do anything actually. If she wanted she could just stay on a chair all day and be treated like a queen.
But she can want things. If she wants to clean then do so, same with cooking or getting out at night. She didn't need to sneak around anymore. There wasn't anyone there that could tell her to not do something, to forbid her anything.
The only thing Lucius wanted from her was to not get hurt, eat the little things he sneaks in her hands, drink at last a glass of clean water per day and try to not touch Jack bottles of rum. It made his friend angsty.
Having freedom and actually use that freedom were two different things.
Or at last that's what Narcissa realized in the two years since she stepped on Malchance. There where simple things. Like Jack love for rum and Lucius liking of chickens. That Malchance was the safest, most hidden and protected place they would get in the world. That magic was in every single thing on the world but after a long lesson from her husband, she found out that magic was more concentrated on the sea then anything else.
She found out that Calypso, the Sea Goddess was merciful, terrifying and too powerful for living beings. Lucius did not pressure her to pledge to Calypso, always making sure she can refuse and actually do what she wants. Despite that she was never more sure, beside her spontaneous weeding, when she pledged herself to the Sea Goddess.
When she stepped on land, after almost an entire year of travel, she found a new sense of freedom.
Choosing things she liked-
'' We are pirates luv'-'' Jack told her when she brough up the subject '' I don't think I even bought a thing, in me life. And Lucius likes anything shiny.'' he adds nudging Lucius beside him
'' Anything ye want.'' Lucius said proudly '' I get it.''
'' Good doggy.'' Jack said trying to scratch his chin making his friend hit his leg. Narcissa soft laugh could be heard clearly from that point on.
keeping little things-
'' Ye got that from Lucy.'' Jack said when she saw her picking a small white pebble and putting it in her pocket. '' He always did that. Picking small things up and sticking them to his wall. Drived our first and only Captain mad.''
'' It's nice-'' she said seating leaning on the . She was looking down at Lucius who was looking like he was lecturing the mop for almost drowning the cannons. She didn't continue her phrase just continued to look at her husband smiling happily. Jack snorted beside her and muttered something about lovebirds.
finding the joys or reading and writing and reading, Goddess she can read now
'' It was forbidden to learn or even said the word back at the House. There wasn't a single Black beside Father and... maybe the favorite sisters that know to read,'' Narcissa said thoughtfully, for a brief second thinking of her sisters that were still sleeping on a pile of hay.
'' I can teach ye.'' Lucius said excited grinning, holding her hands '' And write too.'' he kissed her chuckles gently
'' Can you...um...'' she begin hesitantly '' Teach me swordsmanship?'' she asked tightening her hold on his hands, looking unsure at him
Lucius grinned and laughed happily '' Course I can. You will be great!'' Narcissa grinned as well, stormy eyes sparkling
1728. Port Royal
A small ship was approaching slowly towards the land. Despite the wind blowing strongly the poor ship was barely hanging. On the mast, a dark haired man, head adorned in dreadlocks and a carefully shaved goat beard, a red bandana wrapped around his head, complemented by a small, ancient Siamese coin draped over his forehead.
'' Hey!'' a young voice called '' Uncle Jack we are catching water.'' the man got down quickly, checking the ship condition.
'' Roll up your pants Reptile and take a bucket.'' Jack said taking a bucket on his own taking the water out
'' I still don't know how to swim.'' the child reveled after a couple of buckets of water were taken out
'' Move your hands faster Reptile, I can't have you die on my watch.'' Jack said a little serious and actually worried that the child mother will skin him alive. They worked silently until Reptile stopped '' Huh?'' Jack said lifting his head and upon seeing the skeletons of pirates hanged he lifted his hat and bowed his head at them. The child dutifully copied him, stormy eyes peeking curiously.
The port was brimming when they arrived, the same with their drowned ship or at last soon-to-be. The child was balancing carefully on the mast, his uncle on the other side throwing occasional glances at him. He was holding it good, good posture and no expression, not even glancing at all the eyes staring at them and their grandiose arrival.
'' Now, carefully to not miss it.'' Jack said the more they approached and at the same time with his uncle the child stepped off the mast. '' Good job Reptile.'' Jack said walking without pause on their way
'' Wha-'' a man with a white wig called '' Hold up you two.'' he walked closer to them, a black skinned child after him. The child glanced at Reptile and winked making the later confused, he did look awfully familiar though. '' It's a shilling to tie your boat at the dock.'' the wig man continued
Both child and man give him a look before looking at the drowned ship, there was nothing there that could be tied, not like they would in the first place.
'' And I shall need to know your name's.'' he said glancing down at the stormy eyed child
Jack nods and takes out some shilling's. '' What do you say of three shillings and we forget the name?'' the wig man laughed but before he could call the guards the stormy eyed child slipped his own shillings over the book.
The dark skinned child raise his eyebrows and the wig man states '' Welcome to Port Royal, Mr. Smith-'' he glances at the grinning child '' Smith Junior.''
They part ways and without hesitation the silver haired child takes the entire bag at the entry for himself. Jack ruffled his shoulder haired hair and said '' Good job, Draco.'' Draco smiles and continues his way beside his Uncle.
At nine years old, Draco, son of one Captain Lucius and Narcissa, with silver hair, stormy eyes and more than needed of his mother features, goes to his first adventure outside of Malchance.
His parents will either be too worried to care when he comes back or he will not touch land until he is at last fifteen years old.
