I hope you enjoy it <3I started this as a writing challenge in November, and even though I couldn't finish it all in November I am proud I did as much as possible. I had a lot of fun with this.I'd also like to thank my personal hype woman and beta KateNotEight for talking through ideas with me and of course beta-ing. I couldn't have done it without you <3. This is absolutely ridiculous. Thought Ron as he fell onto his bum once again. When Hermione suggested going on a holiday between Christmas and the New Year he expected to relax at the indoor hotel pool or to get a massage in the hotel's spa. Sliding down a hill on two pieces of wood was not part of his equation. Yet, here he was on top of a hill, a board strapped to each foot and two sticks in the snow next to him.

Ron sighed heavily and let himself fall onto his back, staring up at the blue sky.

“Watch it, idiot,” a middle-aged woman yells as she skied passed him missing his stretched-out hand by only an inch.

He sat up again and scanned the hillside. It was a small skiing area in the south of France. Hermione thought it was the perfect place to teach the kids how to ski, something she and her family had been doing since she was a child. What she didn't anticipate was the fact that she had to teach her husband as well. Ron had been eager to learn it at the beginning, but as soon she Hermione started talking about ‘pizza’ and wasn’t referring to the food he had given up. Unfortunately, that meant he had spent most of his time falling down rather than skiing.

Ron watched a small child, no older than 4, skiing down the hill in between their father's legs. Show-off.

He jumps as a person stops abruptly next to him. Hermione picked up his ski poles and sits down, handing them to him, “You should give it another try, love.”

“I’ve given it about 100 tries, Hermione,” he groans, “I’m a hopeless case.”

“You’re just not doing what I told you to.”

“What else is new?” He chuckled and nudged her side, “Where are the kiddos?”

Hermione glanced over the hill and pointed at their two children sitting in a lift, “over there. They’re having fun,” she smiled.

“Good for them.”

“Don’t be like that,” Hermione kissed his cheek and sat up again. Ron was impressed with how she kept herself steady. She reached out her hands, “come on, Grumpy, let’s try this again.”

“Ugh. Fine,” Ron whined and took her hands. She helped him up and made sure he kept his balance. Hermione smiled again and urged him to move a bit. Ron slowly started making his way down the hill, skiing from side to side like Hermione had told him. Just as he thought he had it down he didn’t manage to take a right turn and started going straight down the mountain.

“PIZZA!” Hermione yelled out.

What the bloody hell is Pizza?

Ron saw no other safe way out besides throwing himself onto the ground. He groaned and rubbed his side as Hermione skied over to him, “you okay?”

“I’ll stick to Quidditch.”

“You had it, Ron. Really!”

“Until I didn’t. I’ll just get down the hill sliding on my butt and grab something to drink,” he sighed.

“DADDY LOOK!” Rose shouted as she passed him with ease, “this is soooooo easy and fun.”

Hugo followed quickly after her, “Daddy, you can’t ski on your butt.”

Hermione snorted and Ron shot her a glare. Show-offs.
