Tooru The Resilient
Draco started up the car, and they were off down the road once again. They passed the boys, who were just getting up after having their asses handed to them. And being the intellectual that he is, Draco decided the best course of action was to flip them off and speed away.
At a loss for words, Fred turned in his seat to get a better look at the new person he had to impress. Akihiko was maybe around 5' 7, and he was lanky, similar to how Harry used to be. His skin was a little lighter than Akemi's, around Hermione's shade. His hair was in a protective loc style, each loc was either a bright red, or a bright orange. He was wearing a uniform similar to the other boys, except while theirs were maroon, his is black. Akihiko didn't say anything to anybody, just read his book while trying to stay upright from all of the curves and bumps in the road.
Draco looked through the rear view mirror, trying to access his brother's physical state, and whether or not a drive to the hospital would be better than going home. His lips and nose were bleeding, thankfully they cauterized. Now that Draco looked closer, he could see a bruise starting to form right above the left side of his jaw..... Poor kid.
Draco's eyes glued themselves back on to the road. Everybody was anticipating something, you could feel the tension in the air ever since Draco slammed the back door to his precious car.
Fred noticed how Draco was holding the steering wheel so tight, his knuckles were turning white. His face didn't portray any emotion, it rarely did. But as of now, you could tell the blonde was fucking pissed.
It's not like he was mad at any of them (they hoped), but he just looked like he was ready for an excuse to beat the shit out of somebody else. Somebody needed to say something, change the subject, anythi-
" So...uh... Where to now?" Thank the gods for George Weasley.
Draco spared him a glance before returning his eyes to the road once again. "The old hotel, we're all going to live there now so we need to unpack and go grocery shopping. But we're going straight home tonight, we can go shopping tomorrow." Draco responded, barely above a whisper.
"What are we going to do about dinner?" Ron asked from the back seat right before his stomach let out an obnoxious growl, causing his face to flush crimson as he held his stomach in embarrassment.
Draco answered simply, " We can just order out. I'm too tired to cook and I'm pretty sure everyone else will be after dealing with the twins for so long."
Akihiko huffed a laugh at that. They both loved their siblings, but they would be lying if they said the girls didn't ever start to get annoying.
Draco looked back at his brother before an even more intense look of rage crossed his features. "Where the fuck are your glasses?!" He said it more as an observation than a question.
Akihiko visibly swallowed before stating in a small voice, "Nakamura and his mates stole them during class and broke them and threw them away at lunch. I tried to tell the teachers, but they didn't do anything."
Draco, somehow, got angrier. He sped up the car more, while practically cutting off the blood circulation in his hands with how hard he was gripping the steering wheel.
The rest of the ride was silent. Draco gave off a scarier arua than his Mum's. While her's was almost all threat, his was a promise. A promise that he would get justice for his brother in his own ways.
They eventually turned off of the main drag, and onto a paved road that lead up an impressive hill. The path they were on was surrounded by bare trees and dead flower beds. There was the occasional rock garden here and there, but sadly due to the weather, it all looked a little bare.
Once they got near the top of the hill, the ground started to level out and there were only a few more curves in the road, before they were driving up to the house Fred had inferred that Draco wanted so badly.
It was a very old hotel, it looked as if nobody had been there in years, yet it still looked brand new. Likely the work of charms, but still beautiful. The hotel looked similar to some of the temples they passed on the way here in the form of architecture, but it still gave off the feeling of a home, somewhere you want to live.
The car drove up to the hotel and parked out front. It looked more like a lodge than a hotel, that must of been what was giving it the home like vibe.
Once parked, Draco just let out an exasperated sigh and laid his face on his hands, which were still planted on the steering wheel.
He seemed exhausted, like fully burnt out exhausted. Everyone just sat in the car for a few seconds before Draco quickly got out, followed by his brother, and then the rest of the gang.
Draco went straight to the trunk to get their belongings along with everyone else. Akihiko tried to help but was denied with a simple, "No, Aki. Go unlock the house and find a first aid kit. There should be one somewhere. I'll get our stuff, just rest. You've been through enough today." Draco said, determined to make sure his brother didn't get hurt any further.
Said boy just nodded and did as he was told. He went up to the house and found the key under one of the many empty flower pots that decorated the outside of the building, while everyone else got their shrinked luggage and the car seats.
Slowly, everyone trudged up the steps of the hotel and inside, careful to not nock over any antiques. The interior of the hotel was just as beautiful as the exterior, if not more so. The walls were a beautiful light blue floral pattern, the carpets a lovely beige. All of the furniture was covered in plastic and dust, making the large room feel small. The wood accents and the fireplace were made of a beautiful dark wood, and they stood with the wall paper beautifully.
They slowly walked over the worn carpet, when suddenly, a rat scurried by. It was light grey, with splotches of black fur, and a black dot around one eye. Everyone jumped from the sudden movement, except Draco.
While the rat was running in front of them, Draco quickly and lightly stepped on it's tail to prevent it from moving any further. You could tell he was trying to be gentle, as to not hurt the poor rat under his toe.
They were all shocked by his quick movements, but when everyone looked at Draco's face, all of their questions died on their tounges.
Draco was looking at the rat like Crookshanks looks at birds, the same glint in his eyes and everything. He was staring down at the rat as if he were going to devour it whole, and then Hermione realized he probably was.
Northern and mountain dwelling Veelan species depend on blood, of pretty much any kind, to keep warm. The Veela's are warmed blooded themselves, but to maintain that they need to drink blood, similar to vampires.
They had all seen Fluer, Bill's wife, drink bottled blood before, but the way Draco was looking at that rat was animalistic.
There were horror stories everyone was told as children, how most Veela would drink the blood of children and babies to relieve their winter blood lust, but never had any of the people present seen this before. It was as if Draco could hear and smell the heartbeat and blood of the poor rodent.
Fred studied his face and posture. He looked intimidating staring at the rat, looking down at it like it was a meal. His pupils were slightly dilated, and if you looked close enough at his mouth, you could see fangs poking through his lips. Fred wanted Draco to look at him like that, he didn't know why, but the thought sent a shiver down his spine.
Akihiko was the first to speak up. "Draco...?" He said in a whisper, "Draco?" He said a bit louder this time. Finally, "Draco!"
That snapped him out of it. He flinched and snapped his head towards his brother's direction, like a dog when they have been staring at a squirrel for too long and they get in trouble.
Akihiko looked at him expectantly, eyebrows raised. Draco looked around at everyone and realized what he was doing. He turned to his brother and smiled a little to big, slightly showing off his pointy teeth. " What? I was just admiring how resilient uh.... " He trailed off for a second before he reached down to grab the rat quickly and stood back up. "...Tooru..." He said, effectively naming his food. "Is for living in this dingy old hotel all by herself for so long!" He stated, like it was obvious.
He laughed awkwardly a bit before he said a bit rushed, " I'm gonna go unpack and take a shower, I'll patch you up when I get back." He turned away from his brother and towards everyone else. "Pick whichever room you like to sleep, each room is basically the same except for the beds." He said, before he took a right down the hallway that went through the living room, rat still in hand and all.
Everyone was silent for what felt like forever, before Akihiko sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
Ron was the first person to speak. "What the bloody hell was that about?"
