The Big Kids Won't Stop Fighting
They got lost around 6 different times. It was as if the Ministry had been turned into a bloody maze. Draco wished he had grabbed the map. Around half way though all of the mess, he let go of Fred and put his weird looking earmuffs on. He pressed the same button on the box hooked on his trousers and you could hear faint music begin to play.
"What are those things?" Ginny questioned aloud.
Malfoy looked over to her, pulled off his earmuffs and replied, " They're headphones, they plug into a device that plays music so that only the person wearing them will hear it, as to not be annoying to everyone else."
"But I've never seen those before." Ron piped up.
Hermione joined their conversation, as she was getting tired of arguing with everyone else on which way to go next. "That's because they're a muggle device, Ron. So is the Walkman he has."
" What's a walk-man?" Ginny asked.
Draco pressed to button and the faint amount of music they heard stopped. He turned to her and unclipped the tiny box from his belt loop. "This," he unplugged his headphones from the box and he handed it to her " Is a Walkman." She held it carefully and looked at it as if it would break immediately. "They are a type of muggle cassette player that you can take with you almost anywhere. That one is my favorite though, it rarely eats my tapes."
Ginny looked at the box thoroughly. It had a couple scratches here and there, and it was decorated with little graffiti drawings and stickers. Some of the stickers said 'FUCK OFF" while others had symbols in a language she had never seen before. Most of the little drawing looked like skulls, and some were flowers. It was overall pretty cool.
Hermione was looking at it with Ginny before she enquired about it. "What kind of music do you listen to, Malfoy?"
Before he could answer, Ron interrupted them. " There are different kinds of music?!"
Draco chuckled at that and stated "Yes, there are different kinds of music. I personally am into the alternative rock and punk rock genres... Oh, I like grunge to."
Hermione looked shocked and smiled at him "What bands do you listen to?"
"Oh...uh, I don't really listen to any one specific band, I just kinda listen to certain songs, I always do my research on the singer or the band first."
Granger looked surprised and overjoyed at the fact that the blonde who had bullied her for years had finally gotten over himself and started being human for once.
"Wait, what's a cassette? And why does a walk-man eat tape?" The red headed girl asked.
Draco pressed a different button and part of the front flipped open to reveal a tiny box within the box. it had a see though plastic glass on the front and you course see the inside of the tape. It reminded Ginny of wheels on a car. "This is a cassette tape, it holds the music on tape and the Walkman reads it and plays the music. Sometimes the tape gets stuck and unraveled inside of the Walkman. Sadly, I haven't found a way to fix it yet."
"Huh... Cool."
Ron and Hermione had joined back in with the 'Big Kid Conversation', which left Ginny and Draco alone to talk. Or you know, just walk in silence until somebody sneezes and it gets more awkward.
It was Draco who spoke up first though." Hey... uh... I'm really sorry about how I treated you and your family...and your friends," He was trying not to make eye contact but it was especially hard to do when you have a 5'10 ginger girl staring at you as if you grew another head. "And I know that no matter what I say it won't fix the pain and hurt I caused, so maybe we can be... I-I don't know... Friends...? " He then rushed out, "You can say no if you want I don't mind it's okay."
From the look Ginny was giving him, he must've grown another head. She then smiled and said " Sure, I don't mind." The tone then got serious, "As long as you promise to never intentionally hurt anyone in my family again."
Draco just quickly nodded his head and answered, "I couldn't dream of it."
