Sanare

Ophelia had managed to transfigure a ordinary cheap yellow dress she bought at a muggle shop to a stunning ball gown within a hour. It just wouldn't do to waste my money to buy a expensive dress when you have the powers to make one by yourself, she thought.

Time flashed by in turns of corridors with Cedric and the malicious and jealous stares of girls who had crushes on Cedric, especially Cho Chang. It was Christmas Day, 5:48pm. The day of the Yule ball. She had her auburn hair up in a low bun on the nape of her neck, with yellow flowers wrapping around it. Ophelia had gone with barely any makeup as Cedric suggested, as he thought that natural beauty was best. Beauty my arse, she grumbled as she applied a slight blush on her cheeks. I'm not that pretty.

She shimmied into her dress and shoved on some black gloves, and glided down the great marble staircase towards Cedric, who was in a black suit, looking handsome. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a crush on him.

Every eye was on her as her dress glittered in the dim light.

"Shall we, Ophelia?" Cedric grinned, holding out a hand, bowing.

Ophelia took his hand, and with another gloved hand she raised it in the air and released a ribbon. We shall.

The great hall was transformed, almost unrecognizable. Enchanted icicles hung from the ceiling, transparent and glittering in the dim light. The enchanted sky of the great hall snowed lightly, drifting the air. All the tables were cleared, and the staff table was replaced by a few Evergreen Christmas Trees, the tallest one in the middle. Ophelia and Cedric headed straight for the dance floor, where a live string quartet was already playing. All the others' eyes were on her, whispers broke out among the female population of the school.

The champions were already spinning their partners around the floor, twirling in sync with the waltz. Harry Potter looked slightly terrified as he stepped on Parvati Patil's foot again; Fleur Delacour spun gracefully along with a Ravenclaw boy. Roger Davis, was it? Viktor Krum was with Hermione Granger.

Cedric promptly stuck a hand out for Ophelia to hold, and she took it, immediately being twirled 180 degrees. I didn't know I could dance. Ophelia smiled as she and Cedric turned around and around for a few stanzas. She saw a few couples staring at them, and she turned to Cedric questioningly.

"You look very nice," Cedric said, "people are looking at you, seeing how I scored a wonderful date."

Ophelia blushed.

"Want a drink?" He asked, spinning me closer to the drinks table.

She nodded gratefully.

Cedric let go of her hands. "I'll get you one, you can wait here."

Ophelia nodded again.

"Care to dance?" A random boy came up in Slytherin colors. Seriously? I'm not that pretty - besides, that puppy dog expression he wore was revolting. She shook her head, but the boy didn't get the hint, and instead grabbed her hands.

"I believe the lady said no." A baritone sounded behind her. Ophelia whirled around, and found herself staring straight at Professor Severus Snape.

The boy gulped and let go of her, and Professor Snape left, Ophelia still looking at him. She shook herself. Professor Snape to the rescue...he's so handsome- wait what am I thinking?

She winced inwardly as she looked around for Cedric, who was now hidden in the crowd surrounding the drinks. As she stared vaguely for a tall brown-haired boy in a black suit with a yellow tie, she suddenly felt long nails digging into her bare shoulder, and Ophelia turned around.

How may I help you?

"You bitch, stealing my boyfriend," the girl, who was in a disgustingly short dress snarled.

Me? Steal your boyfriend? No, I haven't. Ophelia was thoroughly confused.

"Don't act like you don't know," the girl whom Ophelia recognized as Pansy Parkinson sneered, "you held my boyfriends' hands."

Ophelia protested, I hadn't!

"Liar. You're a filthy Hufflepuff whore, always begging for attention from pretty-boy Diggory."

Ophelia raised her hand, ready to slap Parkinson in the face, when...

"Miss Ophelia, Miss Parkinson." It was Professor Sinistra, the astronomy professor. "Please behave yourselves. 10 points from Hufflepuff for harassing a fellow student."

But-!

"Off you go, girls."

Ophelia fumed as she told Susan Bones, one of her roommates who didn't shun her that much to pass on a message to Diggory that she was going to retire.

She edged around the dace floor and slipped out into the entrance hall, her bright yellow dress glittering. The front doors stood open, fluttering fairy lights in the rose garden twinkled as she went down the front steps, finding herself surrounded by bushes; winding, ornamental paths and rather large stone statues. Ophelia heard the faint splashing of water, which sounded rather like a fountain. Here and there couples sat on carved benches, and Ophelia followed one of the winding paths through the rosebushes, settling herself on a bench which wasn't surrounded by people.

She sat there, enjoying the tranquility, breathing in the faint scent of roses, but her breath caught when she heard a familiar voice rang out.

"...don't see what there is to fuss about, Igor."

"Severus, you cannot pretend this isn't happening!" The Durmstrang headmaster's voice sounded rather anxious and hushed, "it's been getting clearer and clearer for months, I am becoming seriously concerned. I can't deny it-"

"Then flee," said Professor Snape's voice curtly. "Flee - I will make your excuses. I, however, am remaining at Hogwarts."

Snape and Karkaroff came around the corner, the former had his wand out and was blasting rosebushes apart, his expression slightly murderous. Squeals issued from many, and dark shapes emerged from them.

"Ten points from Ravenclaw, Fawcett!" Snape snarled as a girl ran past him. "And ten points from hufflepuff too, Stebbins!" as a boy went rushing after her. "And what are you two doing?" he added as he caught sight of two boys walking towards Ophelia. "We're walking," the redhead told Snape shortly. "Not against the law, is it?"

"Keep walking then, Weasley and potter!" Snape snarled, brushing past them with his cloak billowing out behind him.

Ophelia was left alone.

What's getting clearer? Dark marks? She wondered.

After awhile, Ophelia shivered. It was getting late and rather cold.

"Here, take my cloak." This time, a unfamiliar voice spoke at her back. Ophelia turned and took it. Thank you.

"What are you doing out here at this time?"

Got bored of dancing...I'm not a fan of waltzes. Ballet is more my style.

"What's ballet?"

With that, Ophelia spend the rest of the night conversing with the mystery man, who had a black mask covering his face.

"I enjoyed this night." The man said softly.

As did I.

"Goodbye." And he kissed her softly on the lips.

A simple peck.

Heat rushed up Ophelia's face, dusting pink across her cheeks.

A faint tingly spread from her heart, deep in her soul.

The man left.

I've found my soulmate.

"Wait!" Ophelia cried out, realizing, "please..."

Her voice was still entrancing, but her heart wasn't.

Her half-soul broke into pieces.
