Teddy's Shenanigans

Harry stared as Draco played with Teddy at the park. Draco playing with Teddy… had to be the most pure and wholesome sight on Earth, as nothing could ever compare. Nothing would ever even come close to being as pure as the sight of his godson and this angelic person playing together, and giving Teddy the childhood that he deserves.

Draco turned to look at Harry and smiled, a sight so beautiful, so angelic, that Harry was sure it was not real. Draco then whispered something to Teddy, and they both ran towards him, engulfing him in a hug warmer than anything in the world. There was gentle laughter in the air, so fragile that Harry feared a mere breath would be able to shatter it, and be rid of the sound.

Once he was released, he felt colder, as if true happiness was granted by those giving him the hug. He looked down and saw Teddy holding an ice cream in his hand. It was vanilla flavored, and he couldn’t remember if he had been holding that a few moments earlier. Teddy was ice cream smeared all over his face, and looked heavily pleased with himself.

He then turned to the angel that he had met, and felt his breath being taken away, just by the beauty of him. There was no possible way someone could ever be so beautiful. There was no way that was physically possible. Not even Veela’s could dream of being as alluring and gorgeous as Draco was.

“Harry.”

Harry stared at the man, entranced. Was this real?

“Harry.”

How could this be reality?

“Harry.”

What does Draco want to tell him?

“UNCLE HARRY!”

Harry opened his eyes, light assaulting his vision. He blinked a few times to process what was happening, and saw his godson jumping on his bed, laughing freely, teal hair flying everywhere as he did.

Harry looked around, and realized that he was in his house, in his bed, still in his pajamas, no Draco in sight. Just him, Teddy, and no Kreacher either because that elf wouldn’t leave Grimmauld Place. Harry had considered staying there, but he had decided that he would rent out the house, so other people would use it, while he lived in France. The best of both worlds. And they got a free house elf.

Suddenly, he realized that he had dreamed of Draco. A man he had met only once! Why?! How?!

“UNCLE HARRY!”

Harry focused on his godson. Teddy was very energetic for a seven-year-old, not that Harry had much experience with kids. All he knew was that Teddy was a handful when he was a baby, and was slowly becoming an even bigger hassle as a kid.

That was probably due to the fact that Teddy was a Metamorphmagus, and he had recently learned how to control his powers, and pranked Harry whenever he could.

“Uncle Harry, it’s shopping day!” Teddy said excitedly, a small French accent showing up in his speech due to him going to a French school, jumping off the bed now that he was confident Harry was awake.

Harry groaned. He had forgotten about that. They were running out of everything, from food, to anything that went in the bathroom, to actual supplies. And today was the day that they had to go shopping. Which would be easier if he didn’t have a certain blonde stuck in his head. And if he was sure that Teddy was not going to get lost by changing his appearance.

“Uncle Harry, you are very distracted today.” Teddy noted, pouting.

“Don’t worry, go get ready while I change.” Harry said gently, smiling when he saw how Teddy lit up and ran out of his room to get into some comfortable clothes.

Harry got up and got ready, brushing his teeth, and throwing on the first thing he saw in his closet that looked decent. When he left his room and reached the living room, he saw Teddy waiting there excitedly, with some nice clothes on.

They then left, and went shopping.

Everything went fine while they got the supplies they needed to have a clean house. It all went south when they went to the market to get food.

It all began with Teddy saying he wanted ice cream. Vanilla flavored ice cream. Weird, it lined up with his strange dream.

Since Teddy was getting insistent, Harry gave some money to go buy ice cream while he finished purchasing some bread. When he turned to go get Teddy after buying the bread, the cold was nowhere to be seen. He also didn’t remember what Teddy had been wearing.

He immediately went over to the ice cream vendor.

“Excuse me, have you seen my son?” Harry asked, panic clear in his voice.

The young woman seemed startled by his presence, but her shock was quickly replaced by worry.

“What does your son look like? Did he stop by my shop earlier?”

Harry couldn’t say what Teddy looked like now, but he knew what Teddy usually looked like. Luckily, this was a magical market, and he could say what the situation was exactly, without making it seem suspicious that he had no clue what Teddy looked like at the moment.

“Well, usually he has teal hair and brown eyes, and he did stop by earlier. He’s seven, and he’s a Metamorphmagus.” he said quickly.

The woman’s worry quickly turned to pity, fear, and worry, probably because Teddy could change his appearance at will, and that would make him much harder to find.

“He went off in that direction. He was saying something about a prank and a pretty person for his uncle.” she said, pointing in the direction where the market got much busier.

Harry sighed and thanked her, running off in the direction that she pointed, pushing the thought of Teddy trying to find him a lover out of his head. He quickly discovered that this was not effective without knowing what Teddy had been wearing. He should’ve taken a photo.

He would call Hermione, but she would scold him, and Ron was always with Hermione these days. None of his other friends lived in France, so he was on his own.

He was also panicked because the sun had just begun to set, so it would be dark soon.

Several painful minutes later, he was ready to give up. That child had gone missing. He decided to walk it out one more time just to be sure, and started retracing his steps, only to notice a strange path that he had somehow missed earlier.

It was somewhat inviting, and seemed to be calling out to him. He had a thought, that maybe, just maybe, Teddy had walked down this path. He clinged onto that thread of hope and proceeded to sprint down the path. The path became warmer and brighter the more he ran, with several colorful flowers, many tall trees with bright green leaves, and several calming nature sounds, not that any of it did anything to help the worry hanging over Harry.

His muscles started to ache, and he slowed down to consider taking a quick break, only to hear a child laugh. That laugh… belonged to Teddy.

With newfound energy he proceeded to sprint even faster than before, possibly the fastest he had ever ran in his whole life.

When he arrived, he was met with a strange sight. It was… Draco? And Teddy? At a park? Just like in his dream?

Teddy was laughing as Draco pushed him on the swing-set, ice cream smeared all over his face, and a big smile plastered on it. His hair was its normal teal, and Harry decided to process what Teddy was wearing for future reference. Colorful light-up sneakers, plain shorts, and a simple yellow shirt with a black dragon on it.

He then looked at the angel that was pushing him on the swing-set. He looked just as radiant as the day before. Had he already moved? Did he need any help? Was he lonely?

He was dressed simply, though that did  nothing to make him seem less beautiful than he was. Harry was still processing that he was really seeing him again when Teddy noticed that he had found him. He quickly got off the swing-set, and ran over to Harry.

“Uncle Harry! You found me again!” he exclaimed happily, hugging Harry as best as he could with his short arms.

Harry crouched down to be able to hug Teddy better, and wrapped him in a big hug.

“Never do that to me again.” he whispered.

He stayed like that for a while, and only looked up when a shadow suddenly covered the light.

There was Draco, hovering over them both, a fond smile playing on his lips. His long hair was tied back into a simple ponytail, and there was something gentle about his aura in that moment, nothing like the oddly impressive aura that he had held at the party.

“You took very long to find this child. He was a wonder to be around!” he said fondly, gentleness in his voice.

Harry found himself dumbstruck again, being so close to this angelic person. He could hear his own heartbeat, beating loudly and quickly. He was immensely thankful that his brown skin made it hard to tell if he was blushing or not. If he was as pale as Draco was, he would probably be the color scarlet.

Fortunately, he didn’t have to think, as Teddy reacted for him.

“Uncle Harry! This is Draco! He’s pretty right!” Teddy exclaimed loudly, happiness and giddiness in his voice, making it waver slightly.

“Yeah, he is.” Harry blurted out loudly.

He was really embarrassed by that, and he looked up at Draco, but the man only seemed amused by his answer. Teddy laughed loudly, and grabbed Draco’s hand, shoving it into Harry’s.

“I don’t have a mom. Everyone in my class has two parents. Draco should be my mom!” Teddy said proudly, as if he had found the cure for cancer, or something of equal measure.

Meanwhile, Harry’s brain had malfunctioned. Had he heard that right? Teddy wanted Draco to be his mom? Was that even possible?

Draco giggled slightly, crouching down as well as to get a good look at Teddy. Teddy then turned his hair a platinum blonde color, as if to match. That seemed to catch Draco off guard, because his expression turned to one of surprise, before melting into one of absolute fondness.

“Sorry Teddy, I can’t be your mom,” Draco started. “But I can be your friend.”

Teddy went from looking dejected to looking immensely happy. Harry hadn’t thought about how only having one person raising Teddy would affect his school life. But he realized that it would make him stand out from the other kids, more than he already did due to being a Metamorphmagus. He should ask if the other kids treated him too differently due to this. He knew he had always felt dejected for being magical when he went to Muggle schooling, he didn’t want Teddy to feel dejected at Magical school because of who was raising him or how they were raising him.

“Okay!”

Draco then stood, and Harry naturally did the same. Teddy then ran off to the slide, having confirmed a ‘second parent’.

A chilly breeze went through the park, causing Harry to shiver. He wondered if Teddy was warm enough in those clothes. He didn’t bring a sweater for either of them.

“Teddy is a good kid.” Draco said.

“Yeah, he is.” Harry replied. This was awkward. He had never expected to run into Draco in such a strange situation, out of breath and having lost his godson.

“I’ll be seeing you a lot more, won’t I?” Draco asked, voice sweet and hopeful. Harry understood. Even though Draco would never be a second parent to Teddy, he wanted to be there for the boy, wanted to see him grow up and help raise him. That included going to school with him and such.

Harry also realized, with a start, that in turn meant that he would be seeing Draco a lot more often, as he was the guardian of Teddy.

“Of course!” he said quickly, realizing he had been silent a while.

“Excellent! I will start seeing you when I finish moving!” Draco said happily, a wide smile making him appear more than ethereal. There were no words that would ever be enough to describe his beauty.

All the riches in the world would never be able to measure up to the richness of his hair, its thickness and length easily making it comparable to silk, though it was clear that his hair was softer and worth much more. His skin, so fair, so pale, so clear, not an imperfection in sight. It was soft when he held his hand, smooth and his hand… had fit perfectly in his. Those eyes… all the stars in the world would never shine as bright as them. Silver was not a strong enough word to describe his eyes, no words would ever be enough. They were special, they were unique, and no other person could ever have such eyes. And those lips… those lips… seemed so soft, so inviting, so perfect. Plush and pink, perfect, and he just wanted to kiss them. He was smitten by this angel.

“Harry?”

“Yes?” Harry asked quickly, snapping out his daze.

“Can you please write your address on this paper? I do not like to Floo.” Draco said, words rolling out beautifully. No voice would ever sound like his.

“Of course!” he replied, fishing a pen out his pocket and scribbling his address on the fine paper.

“I’ll see you soon then.” Draco said.

Harry nodded, and then turned over to where Teddy had been playing just moments before, horror setting in.

“Where’s Teddy?” Draco asked, having turned, only to see that the small child had vanished from sight, small footprints on the floor, heading in the direction of the forest.

“TEDDY!”
