Chapter 1
Pain sears through her head as she groggily wakes up.
Water droplets hit her face as she blinks rapidly trying to regain her senses.
She thinks about how she got into this situation but her mind goes blank. She tries to think as hard as she can but that just causes more pain.
So no remembering got it, she stands up and on two wobbly legs tries walking, To where? She doesn’t know just away from here and out of the rain. She’ll go as far as her two blue legs will take her.
Looking down at herself she notices she's wearing a skirt and shirt combo that look like they belong to an institution of some kind. And besides that there's her puffy head of hair and blue skin.
Completely normal as always.
She walks a few minutes into the endless forest and almost ends up tripping on a bag. Well at least she remembers what a bag is.
Looking at it it’s completely ruined from the rain. But she can make out a name on the front just barely.
Anne-
The rest is unreadable. Anne doesn’t ring a bell but to be fair nothing has so far so she really shouldn’t be surprised.
Dropping the bag she continues her trek. Going in one direction has a good chance to bring her to civilization. Well not really but she has to hope for something alright?
It seems like hours before she stumbles upon any form of civilization. A house with three stories. Her feet feel like they’re about to give out so she hopes these people are friendly and not interested in eating their own kind.
Almost tripping over herself getting to the front door she shakily knocks twice. It is the middle of the night…she thinks. So she hopes that whoever owns this place is friendly despite the circumstances.
She hears someone coming down some stairs and mumbling to themselves before she hears the door unlock and open showing a elderly frog.
“Now what could be so important it interrupts my beauty sleep!”
The elderly frog says with annoyance in his tone. Before looking down and seeing a small frog girl who’s soaking wet and rough looking. Not to mention the blood dripping off her head from the wound.
Wound!?
“Oh geez! I’m sorry sweetie you need to come in!”
The old frog takes her by the hand and leads her to the couch and she can’t find it in her to complain as she thinks she bled out half her body weight on the way here.
He rushes to get some medical supplies he’s sure he has around somewhere. He finds them quickly and rushes back to the girl's aid. The only thing that could make this worse is-
“Hop Pop! What’s going on down there!”
That.
Running down the stairs is none other than his grandson Sprig Planter and his Granddaughter Polly Planter.
The two seem ready to annoy him about whatever he’s doing before halting completely at the sight of the bloody girl in front of them.
“Woah! Hop Pop is she going to die?” Polly yells. He can’t tell if she's worried or excited by the prospect.
“Hush now Polly I’m trying to fix her up!”
Hop Pop continued sewing the girls open wound up as the girl stayed silent. after a few minutes he’s got her in a state where she won’t bleed out so that's good enough for him!
“There we go… What’s your name honey?”
The girl looks at him a bit worried before saying “...Anne I think?”
“You think? You mean you don’t know?” Hop Pop asked as Sprig whispered something to Polly.
“Um about that, I kind of don’t remember a lot of things.” Anne said, trying to brush off the question.
“Say what!” Hop Pop Yelled causing Anne to grab her head in pain.
“Oh sorry dear but you don’t remember anything? Not even where you're from?”
Anne looked like she was thinking before saying “Not at all.”
Sprig looked sympathetic and Polly even did too. Hop Pop tried to think about what to do before saying.
“Alright well you need to rest before we can figure this out. I’ll figure this out tomorrow Anne but until then you can sleep here, okay?
She gave a thumbs up before laying her head back down on the couch and within seconds was out of it.
Hop Pop sighed and turned around to face the children.
“Alright kids now I know this is a lot but we got to make sure Anne finds her memory soon. We don’t want her to end up back out there.”
It was Sprig’s turn to speak now. “Your right Hop Pop. What should we do?”
“Just be on your best behavior alright? I’ll take care of this tomorrow.”
Sprig nodded and Polly gave a salute as they both went back to their rooms. Hop Pop decided he would stay up and watch over Anne. Wouldn’t be the first time he had to watch over someone at risk of dying.
Wouldn’t even crack the top ten believe it or not.
*
Anne woke up with the sun beaming down onto her face. Sitting up caused a sharp pain to go through her skull and she quickly grabbed her head in pain.
“Geez Anne don’t sit up so fast, you need to take it easy.”
Anne looked over and Hop Pop was in the kitchen making breakfast. He looked tired and Anne can’t help but feel a little guilty feeling she was at fault for this.
Standing up slowly Anne hobbled to the kitchen and sat down as Hop Pop put down 4 plates.
“Oh no you don’t have to serve me, I'm good.” Anne tried flashing a bright smile to show her great wellbeing but Hop Pop just looked at her disapprovingly.
“Anne, you wandered through Frog knows how many acres of mud with a broken skull to get here. You’re eating, no need to be polite.”
Anne sank into her chair as Hop Pop called down his grandkids for breakfast. Looking at her plate she noticed some kind of food with worms in it? She assumes that’s what's normal to eat around her so she can’t complain.
Sprig and Polly raced down the stairs and into the chairs to the left and right of Anne respectively.
“So do you remember your last name?” Sprig bluntly asked.
Hop Pop looked like he was about to give him an earful but Anne just answered “Nope! You can just call me Anne No-Name!”
She awkwardly laughed at her attempt to lighten the mood but the worried faces around the table told her to just sit down and eat her worm food.
Breakfast continued with a few awkward questions like “Does your head hurt?” And “How old are you?” Which were answered with “Yes” and “I don’t know, probably as old as you or a bit older.”
Anne sized Sprig up and noticed she was only barely taller than him. So she assumes they’re around the same age.
After breakfast Hop Pop said “Alright children I’m bringing Anne with me to the doctor be good while I’m gone.”
“Awww Hop Pop we wanna go into town!” Sprig and Polly begged as Hop Pop held his head in his hands.
“Fine! Just don’t bother Anne anymore okay?
Sprig and Polly cheered and Hop Pop sighed to himself. Anne simply smiled at the fact they will find out who she is soon enough.
