Potions Partners
"I hear you've been assigned McLaggen as Potions partners." Draco tried to sound disaffected.
"Mm," Hermione said noncommittally. She was engrossed in this new book.
He cleared his throat, causing her to look up.
She arched a dark brow. "Will that be a problem?"
"N-no."
"Okay then." She went back to her book.
"It's just that—" Draco began.
Hermione huffed. "Yes, what is it? What?!"
"Never mind." He turned away, obviously hurt.
Pansy walked by their table, "Hey Draco, looking forward to working with you on that Amortentia project."
Hermione's voice cracked a little. "Your ex is your Potions partner?"
He stiffened. "I wanted to inform you of that fact since we were planning on working together."
"No, you're mine! My partner, that is." She swallowed awkwardly, avoiding his stare.
