Draco accidentally stepped on Crookshanks' front paws.
The Kneazle immediately jumped onto Hermione's lap, ears down, expression forlorn.

Draco couldn't bare the look on Crookshanks' face. He spent hours, pacing back and forth. “I’m a bad, bad man, Granger. I destroy everything I love. It's better for you to leave m—”
Hermione tapped her feet impatiently. She flung her hands up in the air. “You drama queen. Last month, you were plotting Crooks’ death.”
Draco sniffed. “I am large. I contain multitudes.”
Crookshanks climbed into Draco's lap with a huff, as if to say, I don't know why you're crying. I'm the one with the bruised paw.
