It's been one year, seven months, and nine days since Remus' heart was ripped from his chest and shattered by Sirius Black, but hey, who's keeping track anyway?

Remus had always known Benjy Fenwick was nothing but trouble. Benjy Fenwick was Lily Evans', his best friend, intern and apprentice. Benjy began attending meetings with Lily, meaning he was around the band a large amount of the time.

Overtime, Remus began to see the way Benjy looked at Sirius like Sirius was the sun in the sky. It was the same way Remus looked at Sirius beforr the two started dating. Remus didn't think much of it at first. He assumed Benjy would know better than try to act on his newfound feelings. Besides, Sirius and Remus were engaged. Sirius wouldn't betray Remus by getting with Benjy. Remus was sure of that.

Sirius and Remus were intertwined by the couch, just lounging around.

"Hey Sirius?" Remus asked while raking a hand through Sirius' hair.

Sirius relaxed into the touch, his eyes closing. "Hm?"

"You don't find Benjy attractive or anything, right? He's been giving you goo-goo eyes all week." Remus asked.

Sirius' eyes opened and he turned to face Remus. "Of course not. You're the apple of my eye, moonshine."

"Oh my god, never say that again." Remus groaned.

Remus began to doubt his knowledge a few weeks before his birthday, March 10th. He saw changed between Benjy and Sirius. Small touches would linger to the point that they weren't just friendly, eye contact lasting longer than it should during conversation, and silently shared whispers between the two in crowded rooms. Remus stayed silent. Maybe he was insecure of himself and there was nothing actually going on.

Apparently, Remus wasn't the only one aware of these changes.

Lily and Remus always had a movie night at least one Friday each month. It was currently February, and the two were in Lily' apartment, setting up for their movie night.

"I need to ask you something, but it might be invasive," Lily spoke hesitantly.

Remus shrugged. "It's fine, go ahead and ask."

"Are you and Sirius fighting right now? I've seen him spend more time getting cozy with my intern than you in the past two weeks." Lily asked while looking at Remus with a sympathetic look on her face.

"Getting cozy? I'm sure it's nothing Lils, and we're fine. I'm sure he's just trying to make Benjy feel more welcome into our little group." Remus lied, uncomfortable with talking about it more.

Lily slowly nodded, not believing him for one second. Instead of pushing him to talk about it, she graciously changed the subject to save Remus from more anxiety on the topic.

By the time Remus' birthday approached, his doubts were eating him alive. He decided that his birthday would be the perfect time to let loose and forget about his worries for one night.

Remus stepped out of the elevator in his and Sirius' apartment building. He made his way down the hall, bags full of birthday decorations in his hands. Once he reached his apartment, he set the bags down to get his keys and unlock the door.
He turned the doorknob to find that the door was already unlocked.

Weird. Sirius said he would be out today.

Remus grabbed the bags from where they say on the floor and slowly made his way inside, afraid of a possible intruder that may be inside.

What he say was worse than any possible intruder situation. Remus felt his drop to the floor and shatter into a million pieces when he saw Sirius on top of Benjy, their lips connected and hands all over one another.

Remus tore his eyes away from the unknowing couple to see a half-empty bag of cocaine on the kitchen table. Sirius had a past with drugs and had been clean for two years up until today as it seemed.

He dropped the bags in his hands and rushed past Sirius and Benjy, who were both know aware of his presence, into his bedroom.

Sirius ran after him. "Remus! I swear it's really not what it seems."

Remus cut him off, "Then what the fuck is it, Sirius? Is that just a thing friends do now?"

"No baby, I promise that's not was happening. Please just listen to me." Sirius practically begged

"I knew something was happening but I thought you were better than this. Does four years mean nothing to you?" Remus said while frantically packing enough for a few days, tears threatening to spill out of his eyes.

Sirius shook his head, grabbing Remus' arm while he rambled. "He came in here with pills and everything else he knew I used to be addicted to! What else was I supposed to do? You know I can't-"

Remus tore his hand away and finished packing. "You're a weak and horrible man, Sirius. Really living up to the family name huh?"

"Don't start with that shit Remus! Your head is so far up your own ass that you can't even listen to what I have to say." Sirius said with venom in his voice.

"Someone will come here in a few days to get my stuff, don't stay in touch." Remus swiftly walked out of the room and then the apartment, ignored Sirius' begging and panicked yells.

Remus got into the elevator and broke down. He was sobbing, the hurt and pain hitting him like a bus. Once the elevator stopped, he began walking outside until he froze as soon as he stepped food out the complex's door. There was a swarm of paparazzi from various gossip magazines with cameras that were flashing.

"Fucking hell, I bet he called a few places to get this to bite me in the ass." Remus mumbled while covering his hand with his face and briskly made his way to the only other place he knew could go, Regulus Black's apartment.

So after one year, seven months, and nine days, Remus Lupin again found himself sitting in Regulus Black's apartment. Yet, this trip was not full of tears and regret, it was full of excitement. He was in Regulus' living room with his best friends and band mates: Pandora Rosier, Dorcas Meadowes, and Regulus Black. The four were celebrating the announcement of their band, The Lovefools, first studio album. Their manager, Mary McDonald, set up a wonderful party for the evening of the announcement.

Remus found himself sat between Regulus Black, brother of his ex-fiancé despite Sirius having no contact with Regulus, and Lily Evans, who had slipped away from her duties as the manager of The 1971 to be here for him.

"I can only imagine how horrible everyone in The 1971 had it earlier, I feel so bad for them." Grant Chapman, who sat across from Remus said.

Remus met Grant at an awards show he attended with Regulus about four months ago. The two were put at the same table and chatted all evening. Remus was interested in Grant and he knew Grant was also interested in him, but Remus worried that it was too soon after his breakup with Sirius to begin dating again.

"It was a mess before Lily got there! I mean, Sirius was dumbfounded one second, then the next he was yelling and complaining," Peter Pettigrew said as he recalled the events of what happened in the studio with The 1971 when the tweet was made.

Peter was the only one from The 1971 who still spoke to Remus. James felt obligated to stay on Sirius' side of things, due to their long history. Remus put on a brave face and pretended like it didn't bother him, but deep down Remus missed both James and Sirius like crazy. They had been best friends for over ten years, and Remus has had a hard time adjusting.

"Just imagine!" Pandora said before going in to terribly mock Sirius. "I'm Sirius Black and I hate how my ex-fiancé moved on to better and bigger dreams. He's also in a band with my brother who I don't even know exists. Whatever shall I do!" Pandora pretended to pass out and landed in Dorcas lap, which sent the two of them into a laughing fit.

Remus met both Pandora and Dorcas at their boarding school through Regulus. The two girls quickly took a liking to Remus, and the liking was mutual. They were like the sister he never had, besides Lily. He would text Pandora and Dorcas when he need advice or if he just wanted to talk shit about someone or something, and they would always be fast to reply.

"I wish I still spoke to Sirius just so I could see what kind of angry texts he would send me," Regulus put on a David Bowie vinyl while he spoke.

Remus met Regulus at school. Regulus was a year behind Sirius, Remus, James, and Peter. Shockingly, Remus didn't first meet Regulus through Sirius. Instead, they met each other when the two were kicked out of the school's library for being there past closing. The two started chatting on their way back to their dorms and their friendship blossomed from their. Sirius threw a fit over Regulus and Remus being friends, so the two secretly hung out. Even though they had to sneak around, Remus found that he was there for Regulus much more than Sirius was there for him.

Sirius ran away for his and Regulus' abusive parents at 16, leaving Regulus alone in the house. Regulus had not began transitioning yet due to his family, but had already come out to Remus. Remus did whatever he could to help Regulus through this time. Remus gave Regulus old clothing of his that wouldn't fit and even helped Regulus run away from his parents.

Lily sighed and opened her phone. "I doubt you would want contact with him right now. I mean, look at everything he's sending to the band group chat!"

Lily flipped her phone so everyone could see the plethora of messages Sirius had sent.

Regulus rolled his eyes. "He sounds like the villains in Scooby Doo."

"He looks like one of the villains too.." Grant mumbled before taking a sip of her drink. Everyone turned to look at Grant then burst out laughing at his comment.

"Wait, I have idea," Remus said after the laughter died down before taking Lily's phone from her. Remus motioned for Pandora, Dorcas, Regulus, and Lily to move closer, then snapping a picture with all of them together.

"Oh god, are you sending that?" Pandora giggled.

"Obviously," Remus replied before he began typing on Lily's phone.

Everyone in the room, including Remus began laughing again once they saw the replies from the picture and continued to text on Lily's phone.

Remus realized something while being surrounded by his best friends who were laughing and joking without a care in the world. He knew that for the first time in one year, seven months, and nine days, that his heart wasn't so broken anymore.
