Chapter 1
“You have two weeks to write this article, if not you will lose your job. Got it, Lupin?”
Minerva McGonagall could be a pretty scary lady but Remus isn’t phased.
“Got it Minnie,” she replies nonchalantly as can be.
The article in question was a front page feature for this up and coming band called the Marauders. Remus had two weeks to get it written or, like Minnie said, she would be fired.
“They have a gig in town tomorrow night, be there, I have a backstage pass for you.”
Remus had no idea what to expected but she knew she was excited for what was to come.
—————
Fishing out the pass from her pocket, Remus walked backstage after the concert. She was still in awe from the show but more in awe of the band members standing right in front of her.
“You can’t be back there,” a man with curls and piercing eyes says to her.
“Reg slow your roll, she has a pass. A media pass, are you the interviewer?” a bespectacled man asks.
“Good god, way to be welcoming,” comes a voice that Remus recognizes. After all, she’s heard all night. The voice of an angel.
The lead singer, Sirius Black, adorned in a flowy, cream colored, silk dress and a leather jacket. Her hair is long, and black and plaited down her back. She has a million, glittering pieces of jewelry on.
Remus is mesmerized.
She reaches out her hand.
“Sirius Black, lead singer of the Marauders.”
Like Remus didn’t know. She was too awestruck so she held out her hand dumbfounded.
“You must be Remus? Remus Lupin from the music magazine?”
“Yes, that would be me,” Remus says coming to her senses.
“So sorry my brother was unwelcoming,” she says shooting daggers at the curly headed man. “He’s Regulus, my brother, that’s James in the glasses. Peter was the one on the guitar, I don’t know where he disappeared to. And that is all of us.”
“Do you want to interview us separately?” James asks.
“Together would be fine.”
…
Except that’s not what happens. They bicker on who should be the spokesperson, or whether or not something someone said was correct so no interviewing gets done. It about the time Remus has to leave also but the band doesn’t seem to care.
“Do you have another show around here sometime?” she asks.
“We have a show in Manchester tomorrow night. Maybe you could tag along?” James says.
“Remus would you excuse us for a second.” Sirius flashes her smile before turning away.
The band members are whispering among themselves but it’s loud enough that Remus can hear every word. Regulus doesn’t want her to come along but Sirius wants the article to be written. Peter doesn’t know where she would fit on the tour bus. James just thinks the more the merrier. After the longest minutes of Remus’s life, they turn back to her.
“We would love to have you tag along with us to Manchester,” Sirius tell her with a grin.
“Really??”
“Yeah, we’ve read a lot of your stuff-“
“Sirius is kind of a fan girl when it comes to you,” James interrupted.
“Can it Potter. Anyways we would love to have you experience our tour firsthand.”
“I mean i’d love to but I have to turn in this article in 2 weeks.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Peter adds. “We’ll be done in a couple days.
Remus has to think it through first, also did Sirius admit she’s a fan of her writing?? Remus’s head is spinning just thinking about Sirius loving her writing.
“Ok, I’ll tag along.”
————
The tour bus is a clusterfuck of all of their personalities. Remus gets lightheaded just looking at it.
How do four people live in this bus? she thinks to herself
Remus starts to settle in but as soon as she gets comfortable a whole group of girls comes into the bus.
“Oh hello!!” the one with redhead hair chirps. “You must be the fancy reporter Sirius was talking about. I’m Lily, that’s Mary, Marlene, Dorcas, and Pandora.”
They all wave and give Remus a soft smile.
“I didn’t realize you’d be traveling with us.”
“Oh the band didn’t really feel like being interview today so they decided I should come along.”
“The more the merrier,” the blonde girl, Marlene, says.
“Funny I said the same thing,” James adds while him and the rest of the band walks into the bus.
With over 10+ people in a small enclosed space it starts to get very stuffy and crowded. Remus has to excuse herself.
Once outside, Remus’s thoughts catch up to her.
wtf am i doing here?
minnie might kill me
why does sirius like my writing so much?
She’s racking her brain for answers so she can’t hear the door opening and someone sitting beside her.
“They can be a bit much, but what can I say I love them,” Sirius whispers as to not startle Remus.
“How do you not go batty?”
“They’re my friends and they all come with their own quirks and I love them for it.”
“Seems like you love a lot of things.”
“What do you mean? Tell me something you love, could be anything.”
“I love the night sky, and the moon, and the stars.”
“How so?”
…
An hour later, they decide it’s too cold to stay out. Remus feels flayed and as though she just bared her soul to an utter stranger. Because, let’s be honest, she did.
She feels lighter like walking on sunshine but she can’t pinpoint why.
Maybe it’s the lead singer with the black hair and green eyes.
But also maybe it’s not. Who knows?
