Voldemort was dead and the Wizarding World was now a safe place for muggle-borns and pure-bloods alike. Luckily, you and your husbands survived the terrible war. But not without a few scratches.
Years and years of torture and despair plagued the Wizarding World. Everyone has lived in fear of what was to come. You lost so many people to the war. You would never get to see of hug them again but they did not die in vain. They sacrificed their lives for a chance at peace and they were finally getting it.
It didn’t feel real. There was no way that after all these years you would finally be able to rest without keeping one eye open. You couldn’t believe that you made it out alive.
Over the next few months, you would have many funerals to attend. Fred Weasley, Severus Snape, Lavender Brown, and Colin Creevey were among the few individuals that held significance to you. Fred Weasley, Lavender Brown, and Colin Creevey were your students when you taught at Hogwarts. They were beautiful and bright students that were taken from this world too soon. There was so much potential in them.
Severus Snape. Your old friend. He had many flaws that people often pointed out. His greasy hair, his rough and hard demeanor, his harsh way of teaching. He wasn’t always like that though. The boy you once knew was sweet and kind. The boy you once knew was being beaten by his father for the simplest things.
He was the one thing that you and Lily had once Petunia grew cold and distant. It all changed once his feelings for Lily grew into something more than friendly. His stupid and silly schoolboy crush on your sister crushed your friendship forever. Things were never the same after Lily realized she had grown fond of James Potter over the years. Severus’ anger was somewhat justified. His best friend has suddenly fallen in love with his bully but Severus’ actions were not justified. He had no right calling you and Lily that hateful word. He tried and tried again to apologize but Lily and you shut him out.
His two best friends ran off with his bullies.
He was alone. For the first time in years, he was utterly alone.
He grew cold and shielded his heart from the world. That man exuded no emotions other than anger and annoyance. And he died. He died crying tears of longing for a love that was never there. You loved him like a brother and it hurt you that he hurt you. There would never be any reconciling or reunions. What was done was done and there was no turning back.
Months had passed since the war. You settled into post-war life with your husbands. After Remus and Sirius’s heroic acts during the war, they were offered positions in auror training along with Harry and Ron. Remus, for the first time in his life, has been offered something as prestigious as a position in auror training. People knew of his condition and they also knew of his heroic acts. Remus Evans-Lupin-Black was a new man.
Sirius Black was also a changed man. His name was washed off of the dirt that has once been thrown on it. When one thought of the name Sirius Black, they thought mass murderer and loyal follower of Lord Voldemort. But now they thought, Sirius Black, hero of the Second Wizarding War.
You were extremely proud of your husbands. After all, they suffered through, there was still hope for them.
You, on the other hand, had taken the now empty transfigurations professor position at Hogwarts. Since Headmaster Dumbledore was now dead and so was Severus, the position fell into the lap of Professor McGonagall. She accepted the position with grace but with the new duties as headmistress, she found herself overwhelmed with stress. She knew exactly the person that could relieve her of her transfigurations professor position. That person was you.
You helped rebuild the castle that once was your home. The castle walls echoed with the memories of your girlhood. It brought you comfort and allowed you to move on with your life. You accepted the fact that time was moving forward.
It was a Saturday, your favorite day of the week. Today you were meeting your husbands in Hogsmeade after not seeing each other in two months. The school year had started and you were simply too busy to visit them.
This was the first time in a long time that you had wanted time to go faster. You were sitting in the Three Broomsticks, the same pub that you got married in all those months ago. The hands on the clock ticked by slowly. Too slow for your satisfaction. You impatiently tapped your foot on the floor as you ordered another round of butterbeer for yourself.
You had gotten to the Three Broomsticks thirty minutes earlier than planned. You were just too damned excited but now you were more overwhelmed and stressed. What if they forgot about our date? You thought as you ran your hands over your face. It was five minutes past the time you had agreed to meet. Your hands cradled your face as you looked down at your empty cup. The feeling of dread settled within your stomach as you bit your lip.
You tried not to cry but the more you thought, the more your eyes pooled with tears.
“There’s my beautiful wife!” Sirius exclaimed from the door of the pub.
Your head snapped up and you locked eyes with your husbands. Their smiles faltered when they noticed the tears falling down your face. You wiped your tears away with the back of your sleeve and plastered on the biggest smile you could.
“Hello, my beautiful husbands.”
“Why were you crying, my love?” Remus asked. Sirius and Remus slipped into the opposite side of the booth you were sitting at. Their eyebrows were knitted with worry.
You shook your head, “I just thought that you guys might have forgotten about our date.”
Sirius put his hand on his chest in mock offense, “I can forget a lot of things but I would never forget a date with my two favorite people.”
“Do you really think that we are that forgetful?” Remus tilted his head to the side.
You did feel really bad. You doubted your husbands for a second. They deserved more trust from you.
“I’m sorry,” you muttered. “Anyways, how auror training?”
“Stressful. We haven’t had a good night's sleep since,” Sirius began to count the months on his fingers, “two months ago.”
“Why haven’t you been sleeping?”
“Because we miss our wife,” Remus took a sip of butterbeer, “and because we got a niffler.”
That news caused you to spit out your butterbeer, “the two of you are training to be aurors and you thought it would be smart to keep a niffler as a pet?”
“But they’re just so cute,” Sirius said. As a very popular pet himself, he held a soft spot for all animals.
“And very destructive. If I go back home and a single thing of mine is missing I’m going to,” you inhaled through your nose. To be honest you didn’t know what you were going to do. Nifflers are very cute creatures and if they weren’t so destructive then maybe you would have owned one sooner.
To be honest, things at home seemed way beyond your reach. You loved being a professor and teaching students but you loved your husbands more. You yearned for that domestic life that your sister had. You used to make fun of it but in reality, you were sick with jealousy.
“There you are!” the very familiar voice of Mrs.Weasley exclaimed. Her face was beet red and she was panting. The poor woman looked like she was out of breath. “I have been trying to look for you everywhere,” she said through a gasp of air.
“Molly, what are you doing here? How did you know I’d be here” you stood up from the booth.
Mrs.Weasley walked over to the booth and sat down. You sat next to her and looked at the woman with an inquisitive look.
“You know how I told you about my friend that owns an adoption agency?”Mrs. Weasley said as she completely dismissed your question. “Well, she-she sent an owl to me earlier in the day asking if I knew anyone who could take in a couple of siblings that were left orphans after their parents died in the war. I said I did and then I gave her your name. I didn’t know that by giving her your name I basically gave her permission to drop the kids off at your front porch.”
Your eyebrows were raised, “Molly, what are you saying?”
“I’m saying that there are five orphan children on your porch right now.”
