Written in the Stars

THE next Order meeting was uneventful. There were few updates on Voldemort and his death eaters. Severus was limited in information due to the start of the school year. Mad-Eye didn’t have much information either which was quite rare. You all were dismissed early from the meeting. Arthur and Molly went home, Mundungus went to wherever the hell he goes after dark, Kingsley and Mad-Eye had to do some work at the ministry, Bill and Charlie were going to have a drink at a local pub, and Remus and Sirius were heading to bed early. That left you and Tonks left at the dining room table.

“Care to stay for some tea?” you asked Tonks. She smiled and nodded her head. 

You went over to the kitchen and filled the red tea kettle with water. You put the kettle on the stove and went back to the dining table. The water should be done in about four or five minutes which gave you enough time to talk to your sister from another mister. 

“So, how are things with Charlie?” you asked with one of your eyebrows raised. You saw the way they acted with one another. You were positive that the two were in love. It made your heart swell with pride. Tonks deserved to feel and be loved. 

“Things are good. Better than good actually,” Tonks put a closed fist under her chin while her elbow was resting on the table, “It’s perfect. He is perfect.” 

“I think you’re in love, Nymphadora,” you smiled at her. Her once bubblegum pink hair had now turned into a bright shade of orange. She hated it when people called her by her birth name. She thought that it was weird but others thought that it was unique and creative. “Sorry, Dora. I just had to. But seriously, you love him don’t you?” 

Tonks’s once bright orange hair had changed back to her preferred color, “I dunno maybe.” 

You could tell that she was having mixed feelings. “You know you can talk to me, right Tonks? Tell me what you don’t understand.” 

“There’s one part of me that’s completely head over heels for him. That part of me wants to hold onto him and never let him go. Then there’s another part of me that thinks that it’s too soon for love. That part of me is scared that he’ll get scared of my love confession and will never talk to me again.” 

“Forget about the two parts. What I want you to do is close your eyes and picture Charlie Weasley in your head.” Tonks followed your instructions and closed her eyes. Her brows were furrowed in concentration. She looked peaceful and happy at the same time. “You can open your eyes now.” She slowly opened her eyes. “Tell me, what did you feel?” 

“I felt happy and my heart swelled a little bit. I really don’t know how to explain it,” she recounted the events that happened while she had her eyes closed. Tonks really hoped that you would tell her what was going on. 

“That my friend is what love feels like. When your heart swells just thinking about them. You Nymphadora Tonks are in love with Charlie Weasley,” you wiggled your pointed finger at Tonks whose hair was turning purple. 

“I’m in love with Charlie Weasley,” Tonks let a slow smile creep onto her face, “I’m in love with Charlie Weasley! When all this is over I’m going to tell him I love him. We can get married and move to Romania so that he can keep working with dragons. I really don’t care where I’m at. Just as long as it’s with him.” 

The sound of the tea kettle whistling startled the both of you. You quickly got up from your place at the dining table and ran over to the stove to turn the burner off. You placed two chai tea bags into two mugs and poured in the hot water. You let the bags steep in the water for about two minutes before you took them out. You enchanted the mugs to follow you to the dining room where Tonks was patiently waiting. 

The rest of the night was filled with more gossip and laughter. You loved spending time with Tonks. It truly did feel like you had your sister back.

Months had gone by and there was still nothing important happening. Other than the fact that Hogwarts was being infiltrated by the ministry, there was nothing new. 

With the newfound freedom of not being needed for any Order missions. The trio could be found in the sitting room of twelve Grimmuald place. Sirius would usually sit in the middle of you and Remus while the pair of you pet his hair. Your legs would be tucked underneath you as you sat criss-cross applesauce while Remus sat like any normal adult should with both of their feet placed on the floor. 

You found peace in the domestic life that the three of you shared. There would be fights here and there but they always would be resolved through love and communication. Your relationship with Remus and Sirius wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. There were some bad parts but they could always be outweighed by the good. 

You loved each other and that’s all that matters. 

“What were the two of you going to ask me that day we were in the attic?” You remembered that Sirius looked like he was about to ask a very important question but then he was interrupted by Kreacher. 

“Oh, about that. Remus, care to join me in the kitchen,” Sirius grabbed Remus’s hand and dragged him into the kitchen. Truth be told, Sirius and Remus hadn’t been thinking of asking you to marry them as much anymore. They did want to marry you but the war was a big priority that they needed to focus on. 

“Should we do it right now?” Sirius had asked Remus who was currently straightening out the brown jumper he was wearing. 

“I don’t care when we ask her. I just want to get married,” Remus said truthfully. Remus and Sirius had secretly been engaged for the past couple of months. Sirius had asked Remus first which was only fitting considering that was a thing way before they had gotten involved with you. Remus didn’t want to hide his engagement anymore. He was so proud that he would shout that he was engaged from on top of Big Ben if he was given the chance but Sirius wanted this to be a surprise. They hid it the best they could. 

“Alright, alright,” Sirius grabbed the black box he had in his pocket and handed it to Remus. Remus pocketed the box into his blue jeans. Sirius kept the box in his pockets these days. He never knew when the perfect time to ask you to marry him would arise. He made Remus charm it so that you wouldn’t be able to see the outline of the box in his pants. 

“Are you two alright in there?” you knocked softly on the kitchen door. 

Sirius looked at Remus and winked. He cleared his throat and said,  “you can come in.” 

You expected to see the kitchen a mess and a guilty-looking Remus and Sirius but as you slowly opened the door, you were surprised. The kitchen was exactly how you left it. There was no mess. In fact, the only thing in the kitchen besides the appliances and the dishes were Sirius and Remus who had very determined looks on their faces. 

“What’s going on? I haven’t seen you two look this determined since your seventh year when you pulled that prank on Mrs. Norris.” That prank really was horrible. Sirius had learned that cats were afraid of cucumbers so he deliberately made noise after curfew just so he could scare poor old Mrs. Norris. The poor cat jumped out of her skin the second she saw the green vegetable on the floor. That prank earned Sirius and Remus three weeks of detention with Filch. 

“Before we start this, we just want to say that you are an incredible witch. You are so incredibly strong and wise. You bring substance to this relationship. Without you, Remus and I would have gone mad,” Sirius smiled. Remus began to speak, “you are the reason we’re alive. You are the reason why we wake up in the morning, you are the reason why we learned to love. You’ve dealt with a lot of sadness and grief in your life and we want to be the reason why you smile or laugh.” Remus took Sirius’s hand in his. They both knelt down on one knee. Remus took the small black box from his pocket. Remus and Sirius grasped the box together. The black velvet felt soft under their touch. Remus opened it and inside was a ring. 

Not just any ring, it was Hope Lupin's wedding ring. 

The beautiful gold ring had fallen into Remus’s grasp once his mother had died. The original ring was made out of silver but after Remus was turned into a werewolf when he was five, his father charmed it so that it wasn’t harmful to Remus. The band was designed to look like a leaf was intertwined with it. There was a small circular diamond that sat on top of the band. It was simple and not too flashy, just your type. 

“Will you do us the honor of becoming our-” Sirius stopped mid-sentence as a familiar stream of blue made it way into the kitchen. Sirius had been interrupted once again and he was about to throw a fit until he had seen the phoenix bird that was flying around. Dumbledore had sent his patronus but for what? You’ll find out soon enough. 

“Harry Potter is in grave danger. We need your help.”
