New Hair Style?
“Alright that should cover the details of the changes to our shipping routes for this upcoming month. Does anyone have any questions before we finish up?” Lucy asked, looking at the members of Calydon across the table from her. They were all currently finishing up the last details of their monthly business meeting. Caesar is standing at the head of the table with Lucy standing to her right, resting her hands out on the table littered with maps and documents. The rest of the group was sitting around the table, trying not to act as though they were bored since the meeting had gone on later than expected.
Piper leans back in her chair stifling a yawn, “Nah I think that covers it all. All I need to know is what road to cruise anyway.” Burnice seems to snap back out of whatever daydream she was lost in and speaks up. “Yeah I have a question!” she exclaims, her face beaming.
“Yes Burnice? And before you ask no, you aren’t allowed anywhere near the flammable cargo.” Answers Lucy attempting to predict Burnice’s question.
“Oh that’s fine,” she replies, “I was just wondering why you were wearing your hair down all of a sudden?”
Despite how absent minded she acts, Burnice can be quite observant when she wants to be. Lucy had always made it her signature look to keep her long blonde hair up in a side ponytail, but today she was wearing it down instead.
“Burnice, that has nothing to do with the meeting at all. If that’s all then I’m going to start cleaning up, if you want to be useful then feel free to help me.” Lucy shoots back looking annoyed. As Lucy and Caesar begin to go around the table picking up documents, Piper and Lighter share a knowing glance at each other after both seeing a mischievous smile come across Burnice’s face. She gets up and starts grabbing papers haphazardly making her way toward Lucy, then immediately yells “gotcha!!” as she jumps behind the smaller woman and starts messing up her hair.
“Dammit, stop it, Burnice!” shouts Lucy as they both send the papers they were carrying flying as the rest look on trying to hide their laughter.
“What it’s not everyday I get to play with your hair when it's down!” laughs Burnice. “Oh, what’s this mark on your neck?” She asks lifting Lucy’s long hair up and exposing her neck. It immediately becomes visible to everyone that Lucy has a large bruise on the left side of her neck that looks exactly like a hickey. Lighter raises an eyebrow and lowers his sunglasses as Lucy’s face turns a bright shade of crimson, and she turns to start wailing at Burnice.
“Get your hands off of me you stupid pyromaniac! I’m going to kill you for touching me!” screams Lucy quickly going from annoyed to furious. Burnice backs away as Lucy sends fists flying out in every direction, and before it escalates further Caesar rushes over and gets between the two of them.
“Caesar, get out of my way, I'm going to make her pay!” Lucy snaps at the Overlord, but Caesar stands firm as Burnice continues to back away with an expression that reads that she thinks she did nothing wrong. “Lucy get a grip, it’s not a big deal.” asserts Caesar as she grabs Lucy’s wrists to stop her flailing, “And Burnice, I know you didn’t mean any harm but can you apologize? Whatever it is, it seems that Lucy didn’t want us to know about it.” Lucy stops her struggling despite her anger still being plain as day.
“Well sorry Luce, I was just playing around.” Replies Burnice with a warm smile.
“If you’re sorry then stop being such a nuisance!” Retorts Lucy before pulling her arms back and storming out the door.
As the door slams behind Lucy, Caesar lets out a long sigh. “Come on Burnice, let's go make sure this is settled or else she’s going to be ‘accidentally’ launching Bricky at you all night.” Says the Overlord, motioning for Burnice to follow her out. “Sorry guys, can you please finish the cleanup for us?” Asks Caesar earnestly to Piper and Lighter who are still just chilling in their chairs. “Sure boss, no problem. I’d rather deal with paperwork than a really pissed off Lucy.” Replies Lighter.
As Caesar and Burnice leave, the two remaining Sons of Calydon in the room look at each other and can't help but burst out laughing. As they regain their composure, Lighter pulls at his wallet and starts counting his Dennies. “10,000 Dennies that something’s going on with Lucy and the boss?” Asks Lighter turning in his seat to face Piper. “Ha sure, you’re on, kid.” Answers Piper before shaking Lighter’s hand.
