James felt lonely even though he could say he had many friends.
There is Marlene. He has known her since childhood and they always get along well together. She gets along even better with Dorcas now. He enjoys her happiness.
Sirius and Remus are his friends, but now they spend more time together than with him. He's glad they're together.
There's Peter. Peter spends all his free time with Pandora lately. It's nice that they get along.
There's Lily.. she's currently dating Mary and James doesn't want to bother them. He feels like a little kid with them for some reason.
Evan. His best enemy-friend. They can pretend they don't like each other, but they do sleepovers every Friday anyway. Or at least they did. Now he has to sort out his relationship with Barty.
Alice and Frank. James knows they would make time for him, but they don't have a lot of it themselves. They have so many other things to do that when they have free time they want to spend it together as a couple. It's cute.
So James sits alone on the astronomy tower and watches the stars. He doesn't know why he chose this place. Peter went to have a late-night picnic with his Slytherin friends, and Remus and Sirius god knew what they were doing in their room. James is probably here because he'll never be lonely in this place.. The stars are his constant best friends.
Or maybe he went here because no one comes here on a Wednesday at this time and won’t see him eating candy and planning his next game.
Yes, it's probably the last one.
But tonight, something was different. He wasn't alone.
A certain star appeared before him in the most beautiful form that exists.
Regulus Black himself.
“Are you going to jump? Wait for me” he said seriously leaning against the wall. Strange dude.
"I wasn't planning on it, but it sounds tempting right now."
“Jump. But I will watch from a distance. I have a different date selected”
And so began a friendship for the rest of one's life.
There that night James didn't cry of his loneliness because the star was there for him.
When his star stopped shining…oh poor James, even though he had all his friends with him, began to cry like a small child.
