Chapter 10

The next few days went by fast. Today is the day we are going to know who is going to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. “I have a very bad feeling about this Luke.” I whispered into his ear as we walked into the great hall to see the ceremony. “I’m sure it will be fine Juni.” he whispered back at me trying to convince me that everything will be fine. We both took a seat at the Slytherin table that we are sharing with Durmstrang students and waited for Dumbledore to say who the champions are. Then Dumbledore came forward to talk to and say something about the tournament but I was too busy looking over at the Hufflepuff table to look how Cedric is doing only to see him staring over at Dumbledore. “Juniper, they are going to announce the champions.” Luke whispered into my ear, gaining my attention. My eyes went to the front of the great hall. “Now the moment
you've all been waiting for: The champion selection.” Dumbledore pulled the old rag that was thrown over the goblet. “The Durmstrang champion is…” The blue fire of the goblet started to go a little bit higher and a burned piece of paper flew out. Dumbledore catched it right on time. “... Viktor Krum.” Cheering started to echo through the hall and Viktor got up from his place at the Slytherin table and walked over to the front where Dumbledore is standing with the piece of paper in his hands. Viktor shook the hand of Dumbledore and then went to the door that Dumbledore pointed him to go to. “The Beauxbatons champion is…” Another piece of paper flew out, this one was nicely folded. Dumbledore again, catched it without any sign of trouble. “Fleur Delacour.” The hall filled with girly cheering, and a blonde girl with the same boring blue uniform stepped forward with a big smile on her face. "Now the Hogwarts champion…" not Cedric, not Cedric, not Cedric,... My mind repeated. "Cedric Diggory." My jaw dropped, Cedric stood up and walked to the front of the Great hall and then to the room the rest of the champions were in. “Now that all our champions are complete…” Dumbledore got cut off by the goblet. It started erupting a much bigger flame. The Hall was silenced. Everyone was watching the show that was happening in front of them. Another burned paper flew out. When Dumbledore catched it and read it his face dropped. "Harry Potter …" he muttered. "Harry Potter!" He yelled, of course he has to do with this, we can't have one fucking normal year with that Potter guy. Eventually Potter boy came forward and took his piece of paper from Dumbledore and stormed off to the room where all the other champions were.

"I'm telling you uncle Reg, we can't have one normal year ever since Potter came to join Hogwarts." I sighed as I'm putting my jewellery away. “Don’t you think you are going a little too hard on him, Juni?” uncle Reg asked.
“No.”
“Okay, that was clear…” he mumbled under his breath. “Whatever… ever since that boy came into my life, my life began to fucking suck. And I’m not talking about when he met Sirius, ever since he came to join Hogwarts, we can’t have one year of fucking peace.” I snapped. Everyone thinks he is so amazing and shit while he just ruins lives. “And who does he think he is?! Just casually stealing my dad, but you know what… HE CAN FUCKING KEEP HIM!” I screamed out letting my anger get the better of me. I huffed in frustration. “I’m going to bed.” I said to uncle Reggie, climbing into my bed and blowing the candles out.

Cedric was still fighting the dragon and instead of I don't know maybe grabbing that fucking egg and making it go he stayed pretty calm. He walked from one rock to another to get closer to the egg. When he got to the rock that was shortest to the egg, he grabbed another rock with him. Luke and I tried to see what Cedric was going to do with the stone but we couldn't see it through the rock he was hiding behind. "Damit, I can't see a single fuck." Luke sighed in frustration. Suddenly, a Labrador emerged from behind the rock. The dragon was distracted by the dog as Cedric reappeared and snuck up behind the dragon while he/she/it...? was distracted and grabbed the egg just before the dragon turned around. The dragon suddenly disappeared and the entire audience including Luke and I started cheering and clapping. With one hand on the golden egg and the other on half his face for some reason, he went back to the tent. I was just about to leave for Cedric to see how he was doing, but Luke grabbed my wrist and spun me around. "Where are you going June?" he asked me with a raised eyebrow. "I'm going to see how Cedric is doing." I answered him as I removed my wrist from his grip (which was quite weak). "Juniper, we're not allowed in there." he whispered-shouting. "Chill, I'll find a way." With that, I made my way through the crowd to the tent where the contestants were. When I got to the tent, the next contestant had started. "Oi, Diggory!" I whispered-shouted against the side of the tent, hoping someone would hear me. "Juniper?" The tent opened to reveal Amos Diggory, Cedric's father. "Hello, Mr Diggory. I had no idea you would be here today." I said to him, he laughed a little. "Of course I'm here! It's my son's big day!" he said enthusiastically. "What are you doing here, Juniper?" He asked me. "I go to school here, Mr D." When I said to him, he laughed a little. "Haha, good one. But what are you doing sitting here at the contestants' tent."

"I wanted to check how Cedric is doing, it's not every day that your best friend goes up against a dragon." I laughed a little. Amos looked around us a bit to see if anyone was around. Big chance looking for Rita Skeeter. Cedric has been complaining for days that she doesn't leave anyone alone. Which is true because just the other day she was asking me things about my father and how I feel about him escaping and shit. "Come on in." Said he quickly and signalled for me to enter. "Thank you," I muttered. When I entered, I saw very nervous Harry. Sucker. I looked around some more, looking for Cedric. When I saw him, he was sitting on a chair with Madame Pomphrey putting bandages around part of his face. The same part he was holding after his victory over the dragon. "Jesus Christ, what happened to you!" I said in shock. "Just have slight burns." Said he nonchalantly. "A light burn?! A SLIGHT BURN?!" I didn't even believe my own ears yet, this dude just took on a dragon and half his face melted off and he's acting like there's nothing wrong with him. "Juniper, you really are a big drama queen." he laughed at my reaction. Meanwhile, Madame Pomphrey finished treating Cedric's burns and went to talk to Mr Diggory. "Dude, I'm not being dramatic here. Half your face just melted or something." I grabbed a cigarette from my pocket and put it in my mouth. "What are you doing here anyway?" he asked me as I lit the cigarette. I took another puff of my smoke before answering him. "What, not happy for me to come and visit you Diggory?" I asked and pretended to be hurt. He laughed, "Depends, are you going to scold me all the time for seriously hurting me."

"Maybe..." I pretended innocence. He was about to say something before he was interrupted by the most irritating voice in the world. "Ceddy-bear!" I rolled my eyes and was pushed aside by Cho Chang. "Are you okay?" asked in an irritating squeaky voice. "And what are you doing here?" she said like she was the queen of the world, yeah right. "Me! I'm just here because I'm also worried about Ceddy-bear." I tried to imitate her voice and failed badly and started laughing uncontrollably. Cho rolled her eyes. While by now I was almost in tears and rolling on the floor from laughing. "Juniper, can you leave us alone?" asked Cedric as he tried to hold back his laughter. "Sure Ceddy-bear." I was still laughing. Cedric rolled his eyes. I turned on my heels and walked away with a sassy strut. Just before leaving the tent, I put my arm and the air with my hand in a peace sign. "Peace-out losers!" I shouted and walked out of that tent.
