Sunset Kisses

After what felt like an eternity, Amanda and Angela finally made it back downstairs to greet their friends. Amanda kept her head low, however Angela puffed her chest out with confidence.

Amanda had never been more embarrassed in her life about the interaction they had at breakfast, but she knew her friends were just kidding, and that they would be cool if asked to be, so she lifted her head up, cheeks ablaze and walked through the group of friends.

“Glad you guys came down wearing clothes..” Chanse yelled from across the room, flipping off Angela.

“Oh fuck off, bitch.” Angela, out of instinct returned the gesture.

“We are headed for the beach, we’ll be there when you guys get down.”

“Sounds good!”

The two women walked down to the beach, feeling the sand between their toes, the sun kissing their skin, and Amanda squeezed Angela’s hand in hers. They walked in silence, Angela standing on her tippy toes to see the water, and Amanda just smiled down at her. “Here Ang..”

Amanda stopped and crouched down, letting Angela get behind her and hop onto her back. Amanda shifted on her feet, and stood up, holding Angela’s legs up and wrapping them around her torso.

“This better?”

“Yes!”

Amanda slowly made her way to the beach, trying to pretend like she wasn’t exhausted by the time they made it to their spot. She was grateful for its emptiness, no one was around to bother them.

She lowered herself down, letting Angela settle on her feet and took their beach bag from her. “Thanks for doing that Amanda, it was nice to see the ocean at your eye level. I can’t believe you just walk around seeing everything all of the time like that.” Angela giggled, standing on her toes trying to bring herself up to Amanda’s height.

“Yeah it’s definitely nice, but can be hard when you are in a huge group and you stick out like a sore thumb.”

“Oh whatever.”

Amanda took the sunscreen out of the bag and sprayed herself down, and then grabbed the lotion to protect her face. She rubbed the lotion across her forehead, nose, and cheeks, carefully massaging it in.

“I think you missed a spot.”

Angela went over to Amanda, rubbing in the lotion Amanda left on her cheek. For a moment she kept her thumb there, moving it down to hold her jaw. “I’m so glad you and Shayne were able to get this vacation going, I can’t imagine where we would be if this didn’t happen.”

Amanda met Angela’s eyes, her hand reaching up and holding Angela’s, and she felt the added pressure to the side of her cheek and jaw. “I try not to think about it.”

Angela decided to skip the spray and only use the lotion for her body, stating that her much paler skin needed the extra protection. Amanda happily massaged the lotion on Angela’s skin, and when she reached her back she made sure to go extra slow with her fingers. She traced up and down Angela’s spine, digging her fingers deep into the soft skin.

“Amanda…”

When the lotion was all rubbed in Amanda planted kisses up and down Angela’s shoulders, moving her mouth down her back and pushed her forward slightly. She lifted the back of Angela’s bikini. Her kisses became sloppier, her tongue moving around Angela’s warm lower back, ears pricking up to the slight whimpers Anglea let escape from her mouth.

“Jesus Christ, are you guys the horniest people ever or what!?” From behind Amanda could hear Tommy yelling, and immediately removed her mouth from Angela, her head planting itself right in the center of her back.

“Ang, seriously, how does this keep happening?”

“Amanda I actually do not know.”

They stood up, brushing sand off of their legs, and pushed the embarrassment down into the depths of their beings. “It’s okay guys, I understand that new relationship feeling.” Courtney smiled, her eyes softening to reassure them.

Everyone took up their spots on the sand, setting all of the stuff down before heading to the water. Courtney and Shayne stayed back to catch up on some summer reading, and Tommy paced the area trying to think of creative ideas for their Tik Tok. Spencer, Arasha, Chanse, Trevor and Angela all made their way out deep into the water. Their laughter sounded the air as Arasha sat on Trevor's shoulders and Angela on Chanse’s, an epic battle of chicken between them. Spencer was off further into the water, afloat as his body accepted the waves washing over him.

Amanda stared at her friends in the water, but she could not bring herself to go in just yet. She closed her eyes, the wind blew at her long, wavy hair and she let the pieces fly by her face. For a second, all she could hear was laughter, the ocean, and pure bliss. The sand was starting to burn her feet, and she inched closer to the water, reaching the soaked sand.

Standing next to her was Damien, who sat in silence with her. She was grateful for his friendship, she knew that she would never have to call after him, because somehow he always knew when she needed him. She opened her eyes and smiled at him, and he returned the smile. The corners of his eyes wrinkled up, his smile faded and he put his hand out for a fist bump. She fist bumped him back, knowing that this was his way of silently telling her that he approves and that he is there for her. But she knew he would wait until she said something first.

He gave her a quick thumbs up before retreating back to the spot where Shayne and Courtney were, he said something brief to Courtney before planting himself next to Shayne. Amanda assumed Tommy found his video idea, because he was already setting up the tripod.

Courtney now made their over to Amanda, and gave her a hug from behind, Amanda took hold of Courtney’s hands and held them. “Thanks for not saying anything earlier, and for standing up for us.”

“Anytime Mandy, I really love you guys and I am so happy you are together. I could tell that it was eating you both up. You guys seem so happy now, you are like, literally glowing.”

Courtney joined Amanda in the water, and they sat down. Courtney picked up a handful of sand, sifting through it until she found a shell. She held it up to the sun, its colors shining through, a beautiful white and pink mixture. She then handed it to Amanda, who took it in her hand, and rubbed the grooves all around it.

Courtney looked intensely at the shell, their eyes narrowed in focus. “This shell is like you and Angela, it’s like your relationship. I stumbled upon it, almost unexpectedly, it was just lying in the sand, waiting for me to pick it up and notice it. The relationship between you and Angela was just waiting for you to sift through the sand of partnership, and you picked it up and found it. Whatever is between you and Angela, it may have been unforeseen, but now it's like a treasure for you two to have. But maybe not too unforeseen since you guys have basically been flirting since the day you met.”

Amanda felt tears prick her eyes, she couldn’t find the words to say. She held the shell up to her chest and gave a tight lipped smile, knowing anything else would have made her burst into tears. Courtney leaned in closer to Amanda, and rested their head on her shoulder.

“Thank you Courtney, that means a lot.”

“Shayne and I were wanting to watch the sunset together tonight, we would love for you and Angela to join.”

“That sounds amazing, are you sure?”

“Yes. I’m sure, this spot right here, let’s say around 8:30?”

They stayed close together until Angela and Arasha raced up to them, dragging them into the water. The four women swam together, taking moments to just stay in the water and talk. It was nice to just have the opportunity to catch up between friends, even though they already know everything about each other.

Later that evening after dinner, Courtney came up to Amanda and Angela’s room, eager to watch the sunset with them. “I think if you guys wanted to wear something nice I definitely think you should, I’m just saying….” She was leaning into the doorway, wearing a flowy sundress, her hair curled, jewelry dangling off of her body.

“Alright Court, we took the hint.” Amanda winked at her, and turned to the closet, deciding on what to wear.

Courtney closed the door behind her, and Amanda heard her giggle in the hallway.

Amanda wore a floor length white sundress, delicate lace trim hugged her body, the wind coming in from the deck caught the dress as she walked around the room. She put on strappy brown sandals, and gold hoop earrings. A lightweight cardigan hung off of her elbows, a woven tote bag over her shoulder, and her hair sat slightly above her breasts.

Angela opted for a floral-print baby pink and white sundress that barely reached the middle of her thighs. It had a square neckline and puffed out short sleeves, different from Amanda’s dress with spaghetti straps. Her dress was airy, and loose. She put on sandals with a tiny sea shell on them, a delicate anklet attached above her foot, with a gold pendant necklace sitting on her chest.

“Every time I look at you Angela I fall more in love with you.” Amanda held Angela in her arms, and they stayed there until she heard Shayne outside the door, asking if they were ready.

“Yes we are! Headed out in a second.”

Amanda lifted Angela’s face towards hers, and they shared a quick kiss, the kind that made your lip buzz afterwards.

“Come with me.” Courtney held both of their hands as they walked Amanda and Angela out the sliding doors and off of the deck. The sun was starting to set, and it was honestly a little darker than what Amanda was hoping it would be. There was hardly any sun left for them to watch.

“How much do you two trust me?”

“Umm we trust you, but why are you asking?” Angela nervously looked at Courtney, wondering what she could have meant.

“Can you guys close your eyes and let me lead you?”

“Sure?”

Amanda and Angela closed their eyes, letting Courtney lead them out towards the water. Amanda’s mind raced at the endless possibilities she was about to encounter. She could hear Angela shuffling on the other side of Courtney, and Amanda knew she was dying to open her eyes and spoil the surprise.

“Not much longer…”

Amanda’s feet hit soft sand, and Courtney slowed to a stop. She stopped too, and it took everything in her to not open her eyes and see what was happening. She could smell something sweet, almost like a candle. Did they bring a candle to watch the sunset?

Angela must have had the same thought because she asked the question. “Court, do I smell a candle? What is happening?”

“Open your eyes!”

Amanda and Angela opened their eyes, and collectively gasped at the sight in front of them. A soft blue oversized blanket was spread out before them, the corners being weighed down with small rocks that were most likely found close by in the sand. A brown picnic basket sat towards the edge of the blanket, small plates and wine glasses surrounding it. Leading up to the blanket were small tea candles, flickering in the dark, their flames swaying as the breeze went by. The scent mixed in with the salt of the ocean. Two pillows sat on the blanket, a wooden platter held mixed fruits, small cheeses and meats. A chilled bottle of wine accompanying.

Amanda and Angela stared at Courtney, shock overcoming their senses.

“Court, wha….what is this? Where’s Shayne?”

“We thought we could give you guys your first official date. Damien suggested it earlier and Trevor was kind enough to help us prepare the snacks. While you guys were getting ready Spencer and Shayne set it up before he went and got you. He disappeared so I could take you both down here. You guys deserve this, have fun!” Courtney gave them both a tight squeeze, and made their way up to the beach house.

“Angela, this is incredible. We have really great friends.”

“Yes we do.”

They walked the candle path down towards the blanket, and they sat down on the soft pillows. The two of them sat close together, their faces illuminated in the light of the flickering candles and the last rays of the sun. Between bites of fruit, and sips of their wine, they laughed. Sharing jokes and sweet stories. The breeze blew Amanda’s hair around, and Angela quickly tucked it behind her ears.

They paused their laughter and stories to admire the view of the ocean, however as Amanda looked out towards the water, Angela was admiring another view. One of her beautiful girlfriend, in a gorgeous dress.

As the sun set completely and the evening deepend, they shifted closer together, their fingers brushing each other lightly before intertwining. Angela leaned in closer towards Amanda’s chest, resting her head there. The rhythmic rise and fall of Amanda’s breasts matched the lull of the waves, and in that moment the world stilled, just the two of them embraced, wrapped in each other’s love.

Angela moved her head up, and met Amanda’s lips. Her hands reaching up and moving effortlessly through Amanda’s hair pulling her closer into Angela’s kiss. Amanda put her hand on Angela’s back, tracing her fingers along her sundress. Angela pulled at the straps of Amanda’s dress and it dropped easily, they kissed faster, deeper, harder. Angela shifted her weight and laid back, and Amanda moved on top of her.

They met each other in between, their hands reaching for any part of skin that wasn’t covered up.

After quite a while of passionate kissing, Amanda and Angela laid on the blanket. In each other’s arms they watched as the stars reflected off of the water, almost all of the candles burned out or the flames were taken over by the wind. The food was eaten, the drink was sipped and finished, and they were drunk not only on wine.

Amanda will forever be indebted to that Smosh Mouth episode, for it changed her life forever, and brought her true love.
