Say it again.
Cassie hadn’t planned on saying it.
Hell, she hadn’t even meant to say it.
But now, standing in the dimly lit Watchtower corridor, her heartbeat pounding in her ears, she had already crossed the point of no return.
"I love you, Damian." Cassie whispered.
The words hung in the air between them, heavy, electric, irreversible.
Damian stared at her, expression unreadable.
And then—
Silence.
The kind of silence that made her stomach drop, made her brain scream at her that she had just ruined everything.
Her breath hitched, her fingers curling into fists at her sides. Maybe she should’ve just—
"Say it again."
Cassie’s eyes snapped to his, her breath catching.
His voice was low, rough, almost dangerous.
Like he needed to hear it again.
Like he couldn’t believe it the first time.
Cassie’s lips parted, her heart slamming into her ribs.
"I. Love. You."
She repeated it slowly, watching the way Damian’s entire body tensed, the way his jaw clenched, the way his hands twitched at his sides like he was fighting the urge to grab her.
Then—
In one swift movement, he closed the distance between them, his hands gripping her waist, pulling her flush against him.
His forehead pressed against hers, his breath ragged, his eyes burning with something dangerous and possessive.
"Mine." The word was a growl, almost feral.
Cassie barely had a second to process before his lips were on hers, fierce and claiming and completely consuming.
And she?
She let him.
Because she was his.
And he?
He was hers.
