Absolutely Not.

Cassie had faced Red Lanterns, Sinestro Corps goons, and even a Kryptonian temper tantrum from Jon—but somehow, nothing was more infuriating than sitting between Stella and Natalia on a rooftop while they interrogated her.

Gotham’s skyline stretched behind them, the city glowing in the moonlight. They were supposed to be on patrol—or at least, that’s what Cassie thought before her best friends ambushed her with questions she did not want to answer.

Stella, leaning back on her hands, smirked like the troublemaker she was born to be. Her blue-streaked black hair fell over one eye, but Cassie could still see the mischief dancing in the other. “So. You and Damian.”

Cassie rolled her eyes. “What about me and Damian?”

Natalia, sitting cross-legged with her bow resting on her lap, tilted her head dramatically. “Oh, I don’t know... maybe the way you two stare at each other like you’re about to either kiss or kill each other?”

Cassie groaned, running a hand through her short blue-black hair. “Absolutely not.”

Stella snorted. “Yeah, okay, sure. Because when I saw you two sparring last week, and Damian very conveniently pinned you against the wall, you totally weren’t blushing.”

Cassie’s face burned. “That was because I was angry.”

Natalia smirked. “Mm-hmm. Angry. Right. And when he called you ‘hopeless’ and you told him ‘hope is literally my power,’ you totally weren’t flirting?”

Cassie crossed her arms. “That wasn’t flirting. That was me educating him.”

Stella and Natalia exchanged a look.

Then, at the same time, they both said: Riiiiiight.”

Cassie huffed, standing up. “You two are delusional. Damian is insufferable, arrogant, and—”

“Hot?” Natalia offered.

“I was gonna say impossible—”

“But also hot,” Nat interrupted.

Cassie groaned, throwing her hands up. “I am not having this conversation.”

Natalia grinned, twirling an arrow between her fingers. “We’re just saying... if you ever need help planning a dramatic rooftop confession, we got you.”

Cassie turned on her heel. “I’m going on patrol. If you two maniacs actually plan on doing your jobs, I’ll be in the Narrows.”

Stella waved lazily. “Say hi to your boyfriend for us.”

“He is not my boyfriend!”

Natalia smirked. “Not yet.”

Cassie walked off, determined to ignore them—and ignore the way her heart skipped a beat at the thought of Damian Wayne.

Because absolutely not.
