Sirius Return

The stands were full of chattering students. There was something about the quidditch games that brought the houses together, bets were placed and party favours quitetly exchanged. No one was paying any particular attention to the teams down on the pitch. They still had a good few minutes to spare, and everyone was already accustomed to the ruitines that came with the beginning of matches. Slytherin and Gryffindor players were neatly lined up, ready for their formal greetings and a speech about fair play by Hooch was bound to hold place any second. No one payed any particular notice to the fact that the Gryffindors were in fact one player short.

Remus couldn’t help but grin from his place in the commentator booth, no one knew what was about to take place. “Ladies and gentlemen, a warm welcome to the final Quidditch game of the season. On Gryffindors' we, as per usual, can see that James Potter is in fact captain. Yes ladies, you may scream your poor little hearts out. He is a feast for the eyes. Young Regulus Black is standing proud, representing Slytherin, come on now, show some enthusiasm!”

Applause was roaring through the stadium, echoing between the stands and blowing the players' ego up so big that they could have seen them from space. And even though Remus often declined his interest in the sport, he couldn't deny that it didn't warm his heart whenever the school came toghether like this. The crowd went unexpectedly quiet, except the Gryffindors who started to hum a familiar tune. Their voices echoed through the stands, the energy started shifting. Bring the lion out, bring the lion out, bring the bring the lion out. It didn’t take long for the students to realise what was happening, a lonely figure started walking towards the team missing a beater.

His robes draped around him like flames of fire, black hair braided back in the signature ponytail. There wasn’t any question about what was taking place. “Ah, yes. You may have noticed, Gryffindor is missing a beater. Dear students, he hasn't been on the pitch for a good while, please show some mercy." His cigarette was almost finished, smoke billowing from his fingers up towards his face. His grin was unmistakable, a perfect row of glistening pearly whites. Finally, he reached the rest of the team, greeted by proud smiles. Smiles knowing if a certain victory. Even Regulus couldn’t help the excitement showing, finally someone worthy of competition.

He took an arrogant bow towards the crowd and Remus let out a final dry laugh. “Everybody, may I request a warm welcome for the one and only; SIRIUS BLACK"
