Promposals
(Y/N's POV)
"I think you should ask her." I heard Amelia whisper to Draco as I walked up to the Slytherin table for breakfast.
"What are you guys talking about?" I asked, sitting next to Amelia.
"Yule ball's coming up, Amelia still doesn't have a date." Draco taunted towards her.
"What about Leo?" I questioned, "I thought you guys were already together?"
"I guess, but he's not really the type to ask someone to the yule ball." She responded.
"Isn't that how he is though?"
"Yeah, but it would be nice to be asked for once." She sighed, placing her head on her hand, as I consoled her.
"What about you, Draco? Who are you going to ask?" I peered at him.
"Um," He tried avoiding the question by taking a sip of his orange juice.
"My offer still stands about helping you ask a girl out." I suggested.
"Thanks, but I don't think the girl I had in mind would say yes either way." He replied.
"Well, let me know then." I said, grabbing my bag and getting up from the table, "We should probably head to class, don't wanna make Snape mad."
"He's always mad." Amelia groaned, getting up as well.
"Today, we will be learning about a potion called 'Sleeping Draught'. Open your books to page 201." Snape announced from the front of the class.
"Great, another potion we'll never use." Draco muttered under his breath.
All three of us, including Blaise and Miles, were sitting at a table in the back of the classroom.
"Hey," I whispered to Amelia, nudging her thigh, "Do you know what girl Draco was talking about at breakfast?"
"Why does it matter?" She replied, looking over at me then gasping loudly, making a few people turn their heads over, "Do you like him?"
"No, I don't." I replied, widening my eyes at her gasp, "I was just wondering, considering he's never talked about her before."
"Oh, then I don't know. It's probably some Slytherin girl who's been drooling over him since first year." She replied.
"Oh." I said, taking out my Potions book.
"Hey, can I read off of yours? I don't have mine." Draco whispered to me, scooting his chair closer to mine.
"Sure." I replied, moving the book so that it was visible to both of us.
Snape started reading off of the page, explaining what the potion did.
"I would never use this potion." Draco exclaimed.
"Oh really? Why's that?" I questioned.
"If you wanted to put someone to sleep, just use the bewitched sleep spell. Why waste your time making a potion?" He shrugged.
"Well, why don't you tell Snape that." I laughed.
"Who can tell me what goes inside the Sleeping Draught?" Snape asked, as a few people lifted up their hands.
"Yes, Mr. Flint?" Snape asked, looking over at Miles.
"Lavender, Flobb-" Miles was cut off by the doors that slammed open from the front of the classroom. Everyone looked over and you could see Leo, Charlie, and Owen had entered as Leo led the way. You could hear music coming from one of the other boys as they made their way to the front of the classroom.
"Amelia Kingsley," Leo announced, "Will you be my date to the Yule Ball?" Charlie and Owen took out a sign that had a question mark on it with two checkmarks that said yes or no.
"What is happening?" Amelia asked me, furrowing her eyebrows in embarrassment.
"I think he just asked you to the Yule Ball. It's just like how the muggles do promposals!" I said, "Answer him!" I nudged her to go over to him.
"This is so embarrassing." She said, getting up from her chair and going down to the front of the room. She had gotten the pen Charlie was holding and marked the yes box. Immediately, people started cheering, including Owen and Charlie.
"Mr. Peters, as touching as this was, that will be 20 points off of Hufflepuff for disrupting my class." Snape uttered from beside them.
"Right." Leo said, hugging Amelia then walking out of the door, Charlie and Owen following.
Amelia came back to our table and I noticed her cheeks were red from embarrassment.
"Aw, wasn't that cute?" I joked.
"Shut up." She replied, sitting back down as she placed her head on the table.
"Hey, you wanted him to ask you." I reminded her.
"Not like this." She groaned.
Potions class had just finished and Draco, Amelia, Miles, and I were all walking out of the classroom.
"Now that I have a date, all we need to do is find you one, Y/N." Amelia told me, as we walked down the hallway.
"Yeah, who?" I asked.
"There are plenty of options to choose from, especially boys from Slytherin. Right, Draco?" Amelia said, looking at Draco, as he nudged her in the arm.
"I don't know if I would want to go with a Slytherin boy." I muttered, as we entered the courtyard.
"Ooh, what about them?" She said, pointing over to two Durmstrang boys who were talking amongst each other.
"Hmm, maybe." I stared at them, realizing the one on the left was pretty cute. All of a sudden he looked back at me and smiled. I smiled back at him and we stared at each other for a while when all of a sudden Blaise walked up to me.
"Hey, Y/N." He said to me.
"Hi, Blaise." I responded, looking at him.
"Can I talk to you?" He asked, as I nodded. "In private." He said, looking at Draco, Amelia, and Miles.
"Um, yeah, sure." I said, as we both walked over to a quiet hallway. "What's up?"
"I know this is random but would you want to go the Yule Ball with me? I know you broke up with your boyfriend already, right?" He said.
"Uh, yeah I did-" I responded, confusedly.
"It doesn't have to be like a date or anything, just as friends. I'm asking you since no one else wanted to go with me." He shrugged.
"Wow, that really makes me feel special." I responded, placing my hand on my heart.
"So, do you want to or not?" He asked again, raising his eyebrows.
"Um, I have to think about it." I told him.
"Okay, let me know." He replied, winking at me then walking back down the hall. I returned back to my friends who were still waiting around the courtyard.
"What'd he want?" Draco asked me.
"Oh, um, nothing." I said, brushing it off.
"Doesn't seem like nothing." Amelia interfered, looking at my nervous gaze. I gave her a look letting her know I would tell her later once she dropped the topic.
Amelia then whispered something over to Miles and he and Draco walked off somewhere.
"What was that?" I questioned, looking over at them.
"We need to talk about who you're going to the ball with." She stated, seriously.
"I told you, I don't know yet." I replied, looking at her in the eyes.
"I think you should go with Draco." She blurted out.
"What? Why him?" I asked, confused as to why she thought Draco was the right choice.
"You guys could just go as friends, plus you both would look amazing together." She said, giving me an assuring look. Though, for some reason, I didn't think it was a bad idea.
"And don't you remember you had a crush on him last year." She smiled, raising her eyebrows. Of course, I remembered.
"Okay, fine." I said, looking over at Draco who was talking with Miles.
"Really?" Amelia asked, enthusiastically.
"Yeah, it might be kind of fun." I tried reassuring myself.
"Yay!" She squealed, giving me a hug.
(Draco's POV)
It was finally dinnertime and the four of us headed down to the Great Hall. As we entered Y/N left us to go sit with Harry so Amelia, Miles, and I went to go sit at the Slytherin table. Blaise, Crabbe, and Goyle were already sitting at the table so we decided to go join them.
Once we sat down I noticed Amelia was grinning from ear to ear and it was bothering me so I asked, "What's got you in such a good mood."
"I can't tell you...can I? I don't know." She blabbed, "Anyways, have you thought about what I said earlier."
"Which was?" I asked, looking at her.
"You asking Y/N to the Yule ball." She answered, raising her eyebrows.
"Oh, yeah, I have. I think I will ask her." I replied, smiling as I looked over at her at the Gryffindor table.
"Really! I-" Amelia said, as Blaise cut her off.
"Wait, you're asking Y/N to the ball?" He questioned me, as I nodded, "Dude, I already asked her, she said yes."
"What!" Amelia and I both said at the same time.
"What do you mean you asked her?" I said, feeling my body fill with rage.
"Well, every other girl I asked rejected me and I thought Y/N's hot and single, why not ask her?" He smirked to himself.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" I raged, standing up from the table.
"Are you sure she said yes?" Amelia asked, looking at him confusedly.
"Yeah, why?" He asked, looking at her weirdly.
"Because Draco likes her and he was going to ask her!" Amelia whisper screamed at him, furiously.
"Well, it's too late now, she's going with me." He shrugged. I was about to throw my fist at him but Amelia pulled me back.
"Draco, don't." She said, sitting me down.
(Y/N's POV)
During dinner all I could think about was going to the ball with Draco. It seemed like a good idea but why was I so nervous about it?
After dinner was finished, I met up with Amelia. "Okay, I was thinking about how I should ask Draco-" I started to say before she cut me off.
"You're going to the ball with Blaise?" She asked, practically interrogating me.
"What? No!" I said, realizing I completely forgot about how he asked me earlier that day. "He did ask me but I asked if I could think about it, I don't really know Blaise that well to go to the ball with him." I shrugged.
"Wait, so you're not going with Blaise?" She asked, confused.
"No!" I exclaimed, "Why, did he say something?"
"Yes, but it doesn't matter anymore cause it's not true." She said, squeezing my arm.
We made it to the common room and I saw Draco and some other Slytherins sitting near the fireplace so we went to go join them.
"Draco, I need to talk to you." Amelia said to him as we walked up to him.
"What?" He asked, and I noticed he looked miserable.
"What happened to him?" I whispered over to Amelia.
She ignored me and went to go talk to him in private, so I decided to sit with the other Slytherins who were talking amongst each other.
"Hey." I said, sitting down next to a blonde Slytherin I'd never met before.
"Hey, I'm Isla." The girl said, smiling at me.
"I'm Y/N." I smiled back at her.
"What!" I heard Amelia scream at Draco as everyone turned to look at them. "You asked who?!"
Draco looked like he had no idea what was going on but still answered Amelia.
"Who the fuck is Isla?" She yelled again, looking over at the group of Slytherins that he was sitting with before.
I gasped as I looked back at the girl I had introduced myself to, "Did Draco ask you to the ball?" I questioned, hoping I had heard wrong.
"Yeah, I was surprised when he asked me considering he kept stumbling over his words. I'm pretty sure he took some kind of potion, a sleeping potion maybe, I don't know, but I'm sure he'll remember tomorrow." She shrugged, and I immediately felt my stomach drop.
