Kidnapping

Chapter 28

At the end of the day, they were tasked with doing their own dinner. Turned out, almost none of her classmates actually knew how to cook, so Yumi and ―surprisingly enough― Bakugo teamed up to cook.

The result was a delicious rice with curry that even their teachers congratulated them on.

And so the days continued on, with quirk training taking most of their time.

Yumi was rather frustrated with it; even after hours turning Shoto’s fire into healing blue flames, she still didn’t notice any difference.

But as frustrating as that was, she forgot all about it when they were sent into the forest to play a scary game. However, before Shinso’s and her turn to enter the forest, the smell of smoke reached them.

The villains were attacking again.

Izuku had disappeared after speaking to Madalay, and yet her first thought was that her friends were still in the forest.

But before she could even think about running in to find them, Shinso grabbed her hand and gave her a look.

The move caught the villain’s attention.

“Yagi Hiroyumi, the heroine Stain recognized and one of our objectives.” Muttered the human-looking one.

At that, Shinso didn’t hesitate and he broke into a run, dragging her with him.

“Shinso-kun! The others…”

“You’ve heard him, you’re one of their objectives! The others will be fine, they know how to take care of themselves!”

Spinner appeared in front of them, faster than they could see, and cut off their retreat.

“What do you want with her?” asked Shinso.

“You’ll have to ask Shigaraki that.” Replied Spinner.

That was his mistake, and he seemed to realize it because his eyes widened before his face fell blank as Shinso ordered the lizard-man to attack his companion.

“S-Spinner! Stop, man, we’re colleagues!” shouted the other before realizing it was useless and raising the cloth-covered object he carried with himself and activating his quirk.

Spinner collided with the object with strength and he got free of Shinso’s Brainwash, but not before he pierced his companion’s shoulder with one of his knives.

“That’s a powerful quirk you have there.” Spinner muttered. “I’ll have to be more careful with you.”

Shinso frowned next to her, probably noticing the same thing as her; Spinner was looking in their general direction, but he was avoiding looking her in the eyes.

That coupled with his lack of surprise at Shinso’s quirk meant the villains knew what their quirks were.

They were in trouble.

Tenya and the others were able to get away, but Yumi got her path cut off several times by the villains. Shinso, refusing to let her go, had the same problem.

Then Izuku appeared and relayed Eraser-head’s message about them being allowed to fight and the other objective of the villains being Bakugo.

Why her and Bakugo, precisely?

However, she didn’t have the time to think about it at the moment.

The Pussycats, at least those still standing, made a last effort and managed to distract the two villains long enough for the two remaining students to get away and run into the forest.

Then she felt Shinso stumble. A guy with a black and white mask and a red top-hat had appeared and thrown something their way.

And then everything went black and she knew no more.

“Give them back!” shouted Deku seeing the four innocent-looking shiny balls in the man’s hands.

“They’re not things that can be owned and therefore given back, are they?” muttered the man in the top-hat.

He jumped, barely avoiding the piercing ice that had sprung up all around him. Mezo, Izuku, Tsuyu and Ochako looked at Shoto.

The boy looked furious.

They’d never seen so much emotion in his face.

Soon enough, the boys were launching into the air after the fleeing villain, using Ochako’s and Tsuyu’s quirk. They managed to hit the man and they landed… in the very middle of the retreating villains.

“Give us Kacchan, Tokoyami, Shinso and Yumi back!” cried out Izuku stomping one more time on the downed villain.

But before anything else could happen the villain vanished from under them and another guy, this one with dark hair, blue eyes and hideous burn marks on his face attacked them. The girl that had taken Ochako and Tsuyu by surprise followed his example as she went after Izuku.

A desperate fight broke out between them all, with Shoto busy with a black and white boiler-suit wearing man.

“I’ve got two!” announced Mezo showing them the too small spheres that presumably held two of their classmates.

“Good, now for the other two…!”

But before Izuku could launch himself towards the guy with the top-hat, the warp-gate from the USJ incident appeared.

Izuku stared as the warp gate closed, with the black-haired guy holding onto Kacchan’s neck and the guy with the magic tricks having the unconscious shape of Yumi over his shoulder.

“Yumi!” shouted the newly freed Shinso and a paling Shoto, arms reaching out to her.

“Kacchan!” shouted Izuku.

But the clearing was empty of any villains and their two friends.

Fifteen minutes later, the police and emergency agents were surrounding the place and evacuating the wounded students in ambulances.

Fifteen students were unconscious and critical because of the venomous gas of the villains, another twelve received varied wounds, thirteen came out with no lesions and two were missing.

Amongst the villains, three were arrested, but the other seven had disappeared.

Shinso stared into space as he run the events through his mind once and again, looking for something they could’ve done differently, something that would’ve changed the outcome, but he found nothing.

They had been at a clear disadvantage, the villains seemingly well-informed about them whilst they hadn’t been expecting an attack at all.

Near him, Izuku was very much in a similar state as him, laid down on an ambulance bed.

In the distance, he saw a head of blonde hair and he flinched.

How were they supposed to tell the man his daughter was missing?

“Toshinori, sit down, please.” Said Nezu looking unusually serious.

He’d been just about to go home from preparing the plans for the next semester when a very subdued Midnight had told him the principal had requested him to come to his office.

And instead of leaving when he walked in, the woman followed and rested tensely against the wall.

If she was required to be present it meant they were afraid he would need to be subdued with her quirk and that meant whatever this was about was bad.

He spoke the first thought that came to his mind.

“Is it Yumi? Did something happen?”

The principal and the teacher exchanged a look over his shoulder and he tensed. So something had indeed happened.

“Toshinori, there was an attack on the camp.”

“Is Yumi okay? And the students?”

“It was an attack by the League of Villains. They somehow learnt the location of the camp. We suspect they must have a mole…”

“Right now I don’t care about that. Tell me, are my students okay?”

Nezu sighed.

“Fifteen students are critical due to venomous gas, twelve have various wounds, thirteen are unharmed and two… two are missing.”

“Who?” he asked, face blank.

“Katsuki Bakugo and… Yumi.”

It was the first time in years that the transformation was so seamless and fast. One second he was his usual skeletal form and the next All Might sat in the now too small chair.

Before Midnight could act thinking him out of control, he raised a hand to stop her.

He knew the blankness in his mind wasn’t normal, that it was probably his head trying to protect itself, but he didn’t care.

“I’ll be going to the camp myself and talking to the students.”
