Potters secret
(I want to make it known that the reference about Remus and Sirius studying was not referring to sex. They are children. No sex for them.)
11:28PM
Remus starts shaking James to wake him up "Prongs" Remus whispered as he drags him out of bed
"Ow what the fuck Moony, why are you waking me up" James puts his glasses on and looks at Remus from the floor in confusion
"We gotta talk" Remus had something in his hands but it was to dark to tell exactly what it was
"Can it not wait till morning" James stood up groggily and rolled his eyes flicking on the lamp light, his eyes look to the book Remus has in his hands and his heart sinks
"Moony... where did you get that.." James snatches it out of Remus' hands and looks at him in a panic
"You left it in the common room, a first year brought it to me, I knew it was yours from the handwriting, they don't know it's you Prongs don't worry" Remus said in a calm voice resting his hands beside himself
"You know your secret is safe with me right? I won't judge you on it James, it's completely natural and normal"
James looked up from his own shaking hands and looked at Remus "You.. You don't hate me?" James' heart was racing from sheer panic as he flicked to a page in the book, looking back down at it he spoke "Remus.. What happens if they find out this book is mine... They'll all hate me.. Sirius, Peter, Lily, Pandora, all of them, they'll all hate me"
Remus sighed and pulled James into a hug "They could never hate you James, you're our Prongs, you're our favourite prick, a fucking show off, a loud mouth, and we all love you for it, nothing would change that dumbass, we wouldn't ever look at you differently no matter who you love"
James stood in shock for a few seconds before hugging Remus back tightly "Thank you moony, you always know how to make stuff better" James said before letting out a light chuckle "Makes me wonder why you don't have a girlfriend yet" he teased giving Remus a gentle push
Remus laughed in return "None of the girls here interest me, I'm pretty happy being single if I'm honest Prongs, less drama, plus I can kiss whoever I want whenever I want and the best part about it is no one can stop me" Remus put on a fake evil voice and made the cackle of a villain
"MOONY- MOONY STOP I'LL PISS MYSELF" By now James was doubled over clutching onto his bedframe for support as he laughed gasping for air every now and again from Remus' god awful jokes, which is what made them funny.
As the pair laughed there were three loud knocks on the door. They exchanged glances at one another and James stood up straight and slowly walked to the door, turning the handle and opening it cautiously. The door suddenly flew open causing James to fall over. Sirius walked in with Peter who was being slowly tailed by Regulus, who was being practically dragged by his brother.
"So I could hear you two laughing, presumed it meant party, I woke Reggie up to come and join us, I brought some of those drinks from Lily that she handed out after our quidditch tournament, and some food, hope you're all hungry!" Sirius dumped the mountain of food out onto James' bed and shut the door "Reg pass me your Radio"
Regulus rolled his eyes and passed the Radio, which he had been forced to bring, to his brother who was already clearing space on James' desk to place it. James stood confused as Sirius fiddled with the Radio for a few moments and then music came on, on full blast.
Regulus sat on the floor in the corner of James' dorm and started reading as the others all laughed and danced, and ate and drank. It was evident to the others now that Regulus Black had no interest in making friends during his stay at Hogwarts, but he is their best friends little brother so he won't get off the hook that easily.
Remus turned to James "Prongs, you always successfully drag people into our bullshit, see if you can get Padfoots little brother to join us, he looks like he could use a good party" Remus gave James a little push towards Regulus and a slight nod of encouragement
James walked over to Regulus "Hey mini Pads"
Regulus froze for a moment then looked up from his books "Yes?" , he shot a cold piercing glare up at James for interrupting his reading, causing James to take a few steps back
"Well? You interrupt my reading and call me a mini version of my brother and you won't even say anything?" Regulus stood up from his place on the floor and walked toward James who now had his hands up in surrender "If you bothered to learn my name then maybe you wouldn't be calling a mini version of my brother. It doesn't take that much effort to learn." Regulus slapped James with his book who was now stood still, stunned.
James looked at Regulus and rubbed his own face where the book had made contact, he could tell Regulus was visibly upset with being referred to a 'mini pads', "Hey, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that, I didn't wanna place you in your brothers shadow, do you wanna tell me your name?"
Regulus made eye contact with James, and just for a moment, a split second, he felt a sense of calmness that made his heart skip a beat, he didn't feel like he had to fight to prove his worth to James.
"Hey? you there?" James waved his hand in front of Regulus' face "You spaced out for a moment then" He laughed slightly as Regulus made a few rapid blinks to bring himself out of his thoughts
"Regulus. My full name is Regulus Arcturus Black. Or Reg/Reggie for short" Regulus said softly in response, still trying to fathom why James' presence made him feel so calm, so relaxed.
"Beautiful, your name is beautiful" James smiled through the words as it rolled off his tongue with ease.
"What?" Regulus came out of his thoughts once more, in more of a confused state, unable to understand why James said his name is beautiful
James laughed softly at Regulus' "God you space out a lot don't ya Reggie, anyway though, I think you should join me and the others, have a dance, some food, get your head out the book, come enjoy yourself alright?"
Regulus looked at the fading red mark on James' cheek from where he hit him, Regulus slipped back into his own thoughts, how could James possibly still want to hand around him after that? Let alone try convince him to join in the party. Regulus gave a subtle nod and placed his book on James' bedside table.
James grabbed hold Regulus' hand and dragged him to join in the mini party Sirius had thrown in James' dorm room.
Sirius looked at Regulus who was dancing and laughing, Sirius began to tear up slightly, seeing his little brother finally happy made him happy, he knew the struggles his brother had to endure had taken a toll on his happiness, so to see him genuinely happy and having fun felt like a miracle to Sirius, but what Sirius didn't know is it was all thanks to James, Regulus hasn't even realised it himself.
