Of Wizards and Witches (version 2 Electric Boogaloo)
Summary
Struggling to get over the death of Sirius, Harry spends a long summer stuck in a cycle of misery and grief, none of his friends writing to him, when he gets a strange letter from Gringotts regarding Sirius’s will. Deciding not to inform Dumbledore of this, Harry attends a meeting with the goblins regarding his status as the last Potter, and sets a new course for history that the wizarding world could have never possibly seen coming (my apologies I suck at writing summaries)

Harry Potter could say in no uncertain amount of terms that he was absolutely miserable, losing his godfather was a devastating blow to his already crumbling emotional state, the fact that it came as a direct result of his own doing doubled that effect. Combine it with the knowledge that the home he has always imagined and longed for, a home filled with laughter and love may never come true, well I'm sure anyone could do the math on that.

Now his summer was shaping up to be just as miserable as always, with the threat of retaliation no longer hanging over their heads his relatives had quickly turned back to their old ways, Uncle Vernon had been more than happy to return to using Harry as his personal punching bag, Dudley eagerly following in his father’s rather large footsteps, Harry found himself not for the first time wishing Remus hadn’t stopped him from chasing after Sirius into the veil whenever Vernon felt the need to blow off steam or Dudley wanted to start an old game of "Harry Hunting" with his gang.

Today would start off the same as usual, Harry waking abruptly from the meager sleep he had managed to get from his aunt's shrill voice shrieking for him to get up, sunlight shining down through his window to fall across his eyes.

Sitting up slowly he reaches over to the stand by his bed, fumbling for his glasses as he rubs the sleep out of his eyes before slipping them on, standing up with a groan as his back cracks.

He looks up as he hears the concerned hoot from Hedwig, smiling as he ambles over to her and sticks his fingers through the bars, chuckling as she nips gently at them.

"It's ok Hedwig I'm ok, just sore" he says stroking over her glossy feathers before going to his closet and putting on the hand me downs from his cousin, heading downstairs after he pulled a belt tight through the loops.

"It's about time you lazy brat, get started on breakfast" Petunia orders, leaving the kitchen as Harry rolls his eyes but does as he's told, setting a pan on the stove to heat up as he grabs the bacon and eggs from the fridge.

Setting the plates on the table he grabs the few burnt pieces of toast, along with a few strands of bacon he manages to smuggle out in his pockets and heads outside, wrinkling his nose up at the burnt taste of the toast as he heads to the shed, gathering the gardening tools before beginning his chores.

Harry stays silent as he works, the repetitive nature of weeding and tending to the flowers and hedges gives him a brief reprieve from his troubled thoughts as the summer heat beats down.

Harry works till lunch, wiping sweat from his brow as he hears his aunt's screeching voice calling him inside as he stands up, dusting his hands off onto his pants as he heads inside.

"Oh you're filthy, go wash up so you can fix lunch I mean honestly" she huffs, Harry silently heading upstairs to the bathroom.

Once he is clean he comes back down and prepares lunch, ignoring the growling of his own stomach as he washes and dries the dishes, putting them away as he begins his chores inside, trying to squeeze past unnoticed by his uncle and cousin as he works.

Sweeping and mopping was no trouble and neither was vacuuming and dusting, Harry bit his tongue when Dudley making sure to track dirt across the rug and hallway when he came back inside as he gives Harry a nasty grin, Harry once again cleaning those areas to avoid a beating from Vernon.

Finally done he heads up to his room, pulling the door open he stops short, his eyes widening in surprise as he sees the majestic looking eagle owl standing on his desk, Hedwig hooting angrily at the intruder.

"Where did you come from?" Harry says confused, only to blink as the owl holds its legs out Impatiently, Harry taking the letter as it then flies out the window without missing a beat, the window closing shut behind it.

Turning back to the letter he takes a seat at the small desk as he unfolds it, taking note of the Gringott's official seal before he starts to read over the letter.

"Dear Harry Potter heir of the most Ancient and most Noble house of Potter, we at Gringott's are writing to you to inform you that your presence has been requested for the private will reading of one Sirius Orion Black Lord of the most Ancient and most Noble house of Black set for 15th of July, the public will reading shall be held on the 1st of August. If you are unable to attend the public will reading your magical guardian will go in your stead, there are other matters we also must go over regarding your status as the last of House Potter but these matters can wait until after the reading if you so wish, until then we await you response at Gringott's - Griphook of the Ironforge Clan"

Harry stares down at the paper silently for a few moments, unable to comprehend what he was reading until it clicks inside his mind.

Feeling tears starting to well up in his eyes, Harry quickly folds the letter up and sets it away as the tears start to fall, Harry burying his face into his arms on the desk to muffle his sobs, to make sure his relatives downstairs did not hear.

Hedwig hoots sadly watching Harry as his shoulders shake with his silent sobs, short gasping breaths leaving him.

Once his cries die down Harry pulls back, removing his glasses to wipe his eyes before putting them back ok, breathing slowly to calm down before getting up and making his way over to Hedwig's cage.

"It's ok girl I'm ok" Harry says gently, reaching through the bars to gently pet her as she calms down, looking sadly up at him as she gently nibbles his fingers.

"July 15th. That's this Friday"Harry says, standing up as he starts to pace around the room mulling over what he was going to do.

"Dumbledore says I'm supposed to stay, to not get into any trouble over the summer" Harry mutters to himself.

"But this is about Sirius, Sirius wants me to hear what's in his will, and I'm going, Dumbledore be damned" Harry says with finality, already committing to the idea.

"Now, I just have to figure out how to get there," Harry says with a sigh as he sits down on the bed.

The events of the day and his crying session catches up with him, and Harry finds himself falling asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow.

Getting to the Leaky Cauldron that Friday was a lot easier than he expected surprisingly.

Waking up long before any of his relatives normally do, Harry throws on his best looking hand me downs before sneaking down stairs and out the door, walking down to the road and to the street as he holds his wand out over his head.

With a flash and a bang the Knight bus appears before him, the door swinging open as Stan Shunpike blinks at him in surprise before offering a friendly smile .

"Well well if it isn't Harry Potter, how can I help you this fine morning?" he asks with a grin as Harry steps on reaching into his pocket.

"Can you take me to the Leaky Cauldron if it isn't to much trouble" Harry says as he pays the fare and takes a seat Stan shutting the doors as Harry grabs the rail as the bus lurch's forward.

He holds on tight as the bus weaves through cars and buildings, Harry banging into the wall as the bus comes to a sudden stop, the doors opening with a flourish as Stan turns around to look at him.

"Well here we are," Stan says with a grin, Harry thanking him as he shakily climbs off the bus, said bus taking off and disappearing once the doors close.

Harry turns and walks in, keeping his head down despite the scantily filled room as he makes his way to the back and through the brick wall into Diagon Alley.

The sun was finally peeking over the buildings as the day shops begin to open, a few random people were walking around the streets.

Most of them seem like they were heading home, but Harry still keeps his head down as he makes his way to the bank, pushing open the doors as he looks up.

Goblins were sitting at their desks as they work, the sounds of quils scratching against parchment as Harry makes his way over to the closest desk to him, the goblin sitting inside of it looking up at him with a raised eyebrow.

"I'm, I'm here to see Griphook about the private will reading of Sirius Black" he says quietly, despite almost no one else being present in the bank yet.

"Well wait right here Mr. Potter, I will be back with account Master Griphook in a moment" the goblin says, stepping down from his desk and disappearing into the back.

Harry waits patiently idly looking around at the well kept bank as he keeps his hands in his pockets, ignoring the curious glances thrown his way by the other tellers.

"Mr. Potter I honestly wasn't expecting to see you here today but I am not complaining, right this way if you please, there is so much to go over today and I expect all of it will take up much of our time" Came a voice from behind him, causing him to jump and whirl around, seeing a vaguely familiar goblin behind him.

"Oh uh yeah right behind you" Harry says, Griphook rolling his eyes but turning and walking into the depths of the building, Harry following along behind him, the gilded doors shutting behind him.
