Chapter 6
Remus's eyes flicked to the clock, which read 1:38 AM.
He had been waiting for what felt like an eternity, desperate for any news about Sirius's condition. Just as he was starting to drift off, a nurse entered the room, and Remus jolted awake.
"Is there any update on Sirius?" Remus asked urgently.
"We've conducted some scans and tests, and we have a small understanding
of the extent of his injuries,” the nurse explained.
"However, we still need more information about the incident that caused the
injuries." The nurse said.
Remus's heart sank at the news.
They still didn't know what was wrong with Sirius, but at least they had some idea of how bad things were.
Mr. Potter remembered his wife's promise not to say anything before he could
Think of a convincing lie Remus spoke.
"It was death eaters. He was out on a walk with his friend James, who is just outside. They weren't far from James's house, and they were ambushed by death
eaters. They didn't see their faces because James was too busy keeping an eye on Sirius and getting him home, and then getting here to find out who they were."
Remus told the nurse.
Mr Potter again thought of the promise his wife had made to keep quiet about
what Had really happened, so he decided to go along with Remus's excuse.
"I'll report this to the Ministry of magic. The attacks by death eaters are
becoming more frequent and severe," the nurse replied. "We've assessed
some of the injuries he sustained from the spell, but unfortunately, we need an
adult's permission to disclose them, even though you are of age one of the
boys outside are not. That is why we need adult permission." The nurse looked over at Mr. Potter for approval.
"It's okay; go ahead and tell him and the others." Mr Potter said "They have as
much right to know as my wife and I do." Mr Potter told the nurse.
"Understood,” the nurse replied.
"Would you like your wife to be awake for this information?" The nurse asked.
"Yes, she would want to be," Mr. Potter says gently, waking Mrs Potter up.
Mrs Potter sat up, looking concerned . "Is everything okay?" she asked.
"We're not sure yet, Euphemia, but the nurse is about to give us an update," Mr Potter replied.
They both turned their attention to the nurse as she began to explain what they
had discovered about Sirius's injuries.
Mrs Potter listened intently, her heart heavy with worry for her son's best friend, who was like a second son to her.
As the nurse finished speaking, Mr Potter put a comforting arm around his wife. They both knew that this was likely only the beginning of a long road to
recovery for Sirius. But theyI were determined to be there for him every step of
the way.
