The visit

The season was over, but now came the real test—the Euros. Beth had been with the England squad for a little over a week, the routine of training, meetings, and team bonding keeping her busy. But despite all of it, her mind kept drifting to one thing—or rather, one person.

Viv.

They hadn’t talked as much as Beth would’ve liked. Both of them were wrapped up in their own camps, training intensely, dealing with media obligations, and preparing for what was going to be one of the most important tournaments of their careers. But tomorrow, they’d finally see each other again.

On the pitch.

Beth wasn’t sure what she was more excited for—getting to play against the Netherlands or just seeing Viv in person again after weeks apart.

She knew they’d barely get to talk, just quick hellos and maybe a few words in passing, but still. She was looking forward to it.

Beth was lying in her hotel bed, staring at the ceiling, the dim glow of her phone screen casting a soft light across the room. The rest of the England squad had long since settled in for the night, but sleep wasn’t coming easily for her.

She scrolled through her messages for a moment before tapping on Viv’s name.

She hit the call button.

It rang twice before Viv picked up.

“Lieverd,” Viv’s voice was soft, tired. “You should be sleeping.”

Beth smiled, turning onto her side. “So should you.”

Viv hummed, and Beth could hear the rustling of sheets on the other end. “I was already half asleep.”

Beth chuckled. “And I just had to ruin it, didn’t I?”

“You did.” Beth could hear the smile in her voice.

For a few moments, they didn’t say much, just listened to each other’s breathing, letting the silence settle between them in the comfortable way it always did.

“How was training?” Beth finally asked.

Viv sighed. “Long. Hot. And we did so much tactical work my brain might actually be fried.”

Beth laughed. “Can’t relate. We just played rondos for half the session.”

Viv groaned. “Unfair.”

A beat of silence. Beth hesitated before murmuring, “I miss you.”

Viv exhaled softly. “I miss you too.”

Beth rolled onto her back, staring at the ceiling again. “I could use a hug right now.”

“I’d give you one if I was there.”

Beth pouted. “Should’ve picked the same national team as me then.”

Viv laughed. “Right, because switching countries is that easy.”

Beth closed her eyes, letting the sound of Viv’s voice settle over her. “Mmm. I can pretend you’re here, at least.”

“Close your eyes then,” Viv said. “Imagine I am.”

Beth did. She let out a slow breath, the exhaustion from the day finally starting to hit her. “Yeah. That’s better.”

Viv’s voice was softer now. “Sleep, lief. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Beth smiled, feeling her body finally relaxing into the bed. But before she let sleep pull her under, she couldn’t resist one last question.

“Will you be mad if you lose?”

Viv huffed out a quiet laugh. “No. Not with you.”

Beth smirked. “With yourself?”

A pause, then a quiet, “Probably.”

Beth grinned. “Then let’s hope I score a hat-trick.”

Viv groaned dramatically. “I take back what I said. If you do that, I will be mad at you.”

Beth giggled, her eyelids growing heavy. “Night, lief.”

“Goodnight, Beth.”

The final whistle had blown. England had won—dominated—and Beth had been at the center of it, scoring twice in a 5-1 victory.

It should have been pure elation, and in some ways, it was. The stadium buzzed with energy, the England players were celebrating, and Beth could already hear Leah’s voice somewhere behind her, hyping everyone up.

But her eyes were scanning the pitch for one person.

She had seen Viv before the game in the tunnel. They had hugged, nothing unusual, just the natural way they always found each other. Viv had greeted some of the England players, given Sarina a hug, exchanged a few words with Leah, and then looked at Beth with a smirk.

"Try not to embarrass us too much, yeah?" Viv had teased.

Beth had grinned. "Us? Viv, I love you, but if I get the chance, I'm burying you lot."

Viv had just shaken her head, chuckling.

Now, Beth wasn’t sure if Viv would be in the mood for jokes anymore.

As she was processing the game, she heard her name and turned to see Daan approaching.

The Dutch midfielder looked... well, not thrilled, but she wasn’t sulking either. She gave Beth a nod before pulling her into a quick, one-armed hug.

"That was brutal," Daan said, shaking her head, but there was no malice in her tone.

Beth exhaled a small laugh. "Yeah, sorry about that."

Daan smirked. "No, you’re not."

Beth just shrugged, and Daan rolled her eyes, but she wasn’t actually mad.

"You played insane, though," Daan added. "Seriously, it was annoying how good you were."

Beth smiled. "I’ll take that as a compliment."

Daan nodded, then hesitated for a second. "Also—just saying—I’m happy for you. You and Viv."

Beth blinked, a little surprised, but Daan just gave her a knowing look before patting her shoulder and walking off towards the rest of her team.

Beth barely had time to process it before her eyes flickered back to Viv, who was across the pitch talking to Leah and Millie. Beth couldn’t hear what was being said, but Viv was nodding, and Leah patted her on the back before stepping away.

And then Viv turned.

Their eyes met.

Beth hesitated. For the first time, she wondered if Viv was actually pissed. It was a humiliating loss. Beth had been the one scoring past her team. Maybe Viv was competitive enough to be more than just frustrated.

She barely had time to brace herself before Viv started walking towards her.

Beth kept her cool as Viv walked toward her, but for once, she was actually a little worried. A 5-1 win for England, and she’d put two of those goals past Viv’s team. She wasn’t sure if Viv was upset, frustrated, or just exhausted, but she braced herself.

Viv stopped in front of her, shaking her head. “Did you really have to do that?”

Beth smirked. “Would you rather I missed?”

Viv exhaled, tilting her head slightly. “Maybe just one of them. Let’s say… the second one?”

Beth chuckled but could see the frustration in Viv’s face. Her smirk softened, her voice quieter. “I know it sucks. But you played well, Viv. The score doesn’t show it, but you really did.”

Viv let out a dry laugh. “Tell that to the scoreboard.”

Beth didn’t push, knowing Viv would need time to sit with the loss. Instead, she nudged her lightly as they started walking toward the tunnel. “How can I make it up to you?”

Viv arched a brow. “Are you admitting you did something wrong?”

Beth grinned. “No. But if you need cheering up, I’m happy to help.”

Viv sighed, shaking her head, but Beth caught the small smile.

“I have a day off tomorrow,” Viv said after a pause. “If you have one too, maybe we could spend it together?”

Beth didn’t hesitate. “I’d love that.”

Viv nodded. “Good. Then I’ll consider forgiving you.”

Beth laughed. “I’ll take what I can get.”

They reached the entrance to their separate locker rooms, and Beth glanced at Viv. “Will you be mad about this later?”

Viv shrugged. “Not at you. Maybe at myself.”

Beth pouted slightly. “Well, I’d rather you not be mad at all. I kind of need my girlfriend to still like me after this.”

Viv hummed. “I do still like you.”

Beth smirked. “Good. Because I might need a hug later.”

Viv gave her a small knowing look. “I’ll consider it.”

With that, they split off into their teams, Beth watching Viv disappear into the Netherlands' locker room, already counting down the hours until she’d see her again.

Beth was already sitting on the park bench, their coffees in hand, when she spotted Viv approaching. She didn’t look as tense as she had right after the game, but there was still something lingering in the way her shoulders carried the weight of it all. Beth smiled as Viv got closer, holding out her coffee as a greeting.

“Hey, you,” Beth said, pressing a quick kiss to Viv’s lips as she sat down beside her.

“Hey,” Viv murmured, taking the coffee with a small, appreciative smile.

Beth let the quiet settle for a moment before asking, “How’s the mood at camp?”

Viv sighed, leaning back into the bench. “Not as bad as I expected, honestly. Everyone’s trying to figure out what went wrong. Meetings, discussions. It’s less doom and gloom, more… trying to fix things.”

Beth nodded, taking a sip of her coffee. “That’s a good sign.”

Viv let out a soft hum. “Yeah, I guess. But still, yesterday was tough.”

Beth glanced at her. “Feel like talking about it?”

Viv hesitated for half a second before nodding. “I mean, we just weren’t good enough, were we? Everything felt disconnected. The pressing wasn’t in sync, and our defensive shape was… bad.” She shook her head. “I don’t know, it was frustrating.”

Beth listened, letting Viv go on as she vented.

Viv exhaled sharply. “And me? I was just—” She clenched her jaw. “I couldn’t do anything. You lot were cutting through us, and I was stuck getting smothered the entire time.”

Beth softened. “Viv, you were double-marked from the first minute. You barely had space to breathe, let alone play.”

Viv shook her head. “Still feels like I should’ve done more.”

Beth nudged her gently. “You’re being too hard on yourself.”

Viv let out a small chuckle. “I think you might just be too nice to me.”

Beth smirked. “Nah, if you were actually shit, I’d tell you.”

That got Viv to laugh a little, shaking her head. “Fair enough.”

They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, sipping their coffee. Then Viv let out a small breath. “Sorry for the rant.”

Beth glanced at her with an amused look. “Viv, you never have to apologize for talking to me. I love hearing you go off about football.”

Viv chuckled, then lifted her arm and draped it over Beth’s shoulders, pulling her in. “God, I can’t wait for the end of the Euros.”

Beth rested her head against Viv’s shoulder. “They haven’t even started yet.”

“I know.” Viv exhaled, shaking her head. “I just feel exhausted already.”

Beth closed her eyes for a moment, letting the warmth of Viv’s touch ground her. “We’ll get through it.”

Viv pressed a kiss to the top of Beth’s head, giving her arm a squeeze. “Yeah. We will.”

The park was peaceful, the sun warm but not overwhelming, filtering through the trees as they sat together. Viv kept her arm around Beth, lazily sipping her coffee as they watched people pass by. The quiet between them was comfortable—just the occasional sound of rustling leaves and the distant chatter of people enjoying the rare downtime between their camps.

Beth let out a content sigh, shifting slightly against Viv. “This is nice.”

Viv hummed in agreement, taking another sip of her coffee. “Yeah, it is.”

They sat there for a while, just soaking in the sun and each other’s presence. Beth let her gaze drift over the park, but eventually, her stomach reminded her she hadn’t eaten much today.

She turned to Viv. “Wanna grab something to eat for lunch?”

Viv looked over at her, then shrugged. “Sure. You pick.”

Beth rolled her eyes, already pulling out her phone. “You know you’re the worst at making decisions, right?”

Viv grinned. “I just like seeing what you come up with.”

Beth let out a small laugh, scrolling through nearby places. “I swear, one day I’m making you pick.”

Viv just smirked, leaning back into the bench. “Good luck with that.”

Beth flicked her gaze over the options before settling on something. “Okay, there’s a sandwich place like ten minutes from here. Looks good.”

Viv raised an eyebrow. “Sandwich place?”

Beth nudged her. “Yes, sandwich place. Come on, you trust my choices.”

Viv shook her head but stood up anyway, stretching her arms. “Fine. Lead the way.”

They found a small table outside the sandwich shop, the sun still shining warmly as they unwrapped their food. It was a simple lunch, but it felt nice—calm, unhurried, just the two of them tucked away from the chaos of training camps and matches.

Beth took a bite of her sandwich and hummed in approval. “I think I’m a sandwich girl.”

Viv looked up at her, amused. “Oh yeah?”

Beth nodded. “Yeah, like… sandwiches can be really good. There are so many ways to make them, so many options. They’re reliable.”

Viv chuckled, shaking her head. “This is the most passionate I’ve seen you about food.”

Beth smirked. “I take my meals seriously.”

Viv took a sip of her drink. “Okay then, Miss Sandwich Enthusiast—what’s your favorite post-game food?”

Beth thought for a second, leaning back against her chair. “Depends. Sometimes I just want a massive burger with chips. But other times, if I’m not too hungry, I’ll just have something small—like a wrap or a toastie.”

Viv nodded. “Burgers are solid. I love a good pasta, though. After a game, something warm and filling just hits differently.”

Beth smiled. “Yeah, you do love your pasta.”

Viv grinned, finishing the last few bites of her sandwich before pulling her phone out. “Speaking of food, I found some places in Greece we should check out.”

Beth leaned in as Viv scrolled through her phone, showing her pictures of stunning beaches, quaint little restaurants, and scenic walking paths.

Beth sighed, already feeling the excitement for their vacation build. “God, that looks amazing.”

Viv scrolled a bit more. “Here, I also checked out some hotels.”

She showed Beth a few options, each one looking more stunning than the last. But when Beth’s eyes landed on one in particular, she reached out, tapping the screen.

“Oh, I love that one,” Beth said.

Viv tilted her head slightly. “Any particular reason?”

Beth studied the pictures again. “It just looks really nice. Romantic, too.”

Viv glanced at her, a small smile playing on her lips. “Should I book it, then?”

Beth grinned. “Absolutely.”

Viv nodded, already saving the details. “It’ll be a nice celebration.”

Beth raised an eyebrow. “Celebration?”

Viv smirked. “Yeah. Of you winning the Euros.”

Beth let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. “We don’t know that yet.”

Viv looked at her, her gaze steady. “I do.”

Beth smiled softly, but there was a flicker of uncertainty in her voice as she leaned back slightly. “I hope I don’t disappoint you then.”

Viv frowned immediately, shifting closer and grabbing Beth’s hand, squeezing it gently. “That could never happen.”

Beth studied her for a second before kissing her softly, grateful for how easily Viv reassured her. As they pulled back, Beth tilted her head, an idea forming. “So, if you get knocked out first… will you come to see my games?”

Viv gave her a look, as if the answer was obvious. “Of course. What do you think I’ll be doing?”

Beth’s smile grew. “Really?”

Viv rolled her eyes playfully. “Yes, Beth. I’m not gonna miss your games if I don’t have my own.”

Beth bit her lip, her smile turning a little cheeky. “And will you wear my jersey?”

Viv huffed, shaking her head as she leaned back against the chair. “Calm down, I’ll have to think about that one real well.”

Beth laughed again, tugging Viv’s hand toward her. “I hope you will”

Beth was still grinning at Viv’s last comment, the warmth between them so easy, so familiar. She took another sip of her coffee, letting the silence between them settle as they both soaked in the sun.

Then Viv cleared her throat, shifting slightly in her chair, and Beth glanced at her, catching the way she was suddenly playing with the sleeve of her shirt.

Viv wasn’t usually nervous. Not like this.

Beth straightened a little, setting her cup down. “What’s up with you?”

Viv’s fingers flexed where they were still intertwined with Beth’s, her thumb brushing absentmindedly against Beth’s skin. “Just… thinking about something.”

Beth raised an eyebrow. “Sounds serious.”

Viv hesitated, looking down at their joined hands before she let out a small breath. “Do you remember what you said on your birthday?”

Beth furrowed her brows. “Okay… you’re gonna have to be a bit more specific.”

Viv let out a small huff of a laugh, shaking her head. “You know… when you said you didn’t want our official day to be your birthday.”

Beth blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in topic. “yeah?.”

Viv glanced at her, clearly a little unsure about bringing it up. “I don’t know, I’ve just been thinking about it.”

Beth studied her carefully, noticing the way Viv was fidgeting slightly, her fingers still absently tracing patterns against Beth’s hand. She wasn’t usually like this—hesitant, nervous even. It wasn’t like Viv to struggle with words, but right now, she clearly was.

Beth softened a little, tilting her head. “Thinking about what exactly?”

Beth tilted her head. “I mean, I told you that you could call me your girlfriend, though.”

Viv nodded, exhaling softly. “I know… but I don’t know.”

Beth tilted her head, studying Viv’s face carefully. “Are you regretting it?” she asked, a little softer now.

Viv’s head lifted immediately, her eyes wide, her body shifting slightly closer on instinct. “No,” she said quickly, her voice firm. Then, quieter, “No, not at all.”

Beth let out a breath, something in her shoulders relaxing. Viv noticed, reaching up to brush her thumb against the inside of Beth’s wrist in a quiet reassurance.

Beth smiled a little at how unsure Viv sounded, nudging her gently. “What don’t you know?”

Viv sighed, running a hand through her hair before looking at Beth again. “I guess I just… I want it to be real, you know? Like, not just something we both assume. I want to be able to say it and know it’s something we both agree on.”

Beth softened, watching her. “Yeah?”

Viv nodded. “I want to be able to introduce you to people as my girlfriend and not have to be awkward about it. I don’t want to feel like I have to dance around it anymore.”

Beth felt something warm settle in her chest at Viv’s words, at the way she looked at her—earnest, a little nervous, but completely sure of what she wanted.

She squeezed Viv’s hand gently. “Well, I wouldn’t want you to dance around it either.”

Viv let out a small breath, her lips twitching like she wanted to smile but wasn’t sure if she should yet.

Beth tilted her head slightly, watching her carefully. Then, softer, “So… are you asking me to be your girlfriend?”

Viv swallowed, nodding once, then clearing her throat like she was trying to gather herself. “Yeah. If you want to be.”

Beth didn’t answer right away. Not because she had any doubts—there was no doubt in her mind—but because she just wanted to take in the moment. The weight of it.

She watched as Viv’s fingers flexed slightly in her grasp, like she was bracing herself.

And then Beth smiled, squeezing her hand tighter. “Yeah. I do.”

Viv’s breath hitched just slightly, her shoulders relaxing as if she’d been holding tension there for the past ten minutes. She exhaled a small, relieved chuckle, shaking her head.

Beth grinned, nudging her lightly. “You seemed nervous.”

Viv gave her a look, but it was fond. “I was nervous.”

Beth hummed in thought. “You know, you’ve already been my girlfriend for a while, technically.”

Viv rolled her eyes, but there was no real exasperation behind it. “Yeah, but now I actually get to say it freely.”

Beth laughed softly, reaching up to run her fingers through Viv’s hair, letting them rest against the back of her neck. She felt Viv shiver slightly, and that made her heart squeeze in the best way.

“I like the sound of that,” Beth murmured.

Viv smiled, a bit softer now, leaning into Beth’s touch. “Me too.”

Beth tilted her chin up slightly, pressing a quick but firm kiss to Viv’s lips, and when she pulled back, she kept her forehead against hers for a moment, soaking in the warmth of it all.

Viv sighed contently. “God, I’ve been wanting to do that since I saw you.”

Beth smirked. “So you were thinking about kissing me while you were going on a full football rant?”

Viv huffed a small laugh, pressing her hand against Beth’s side. “I’m capable of multitasking.”

Beth chuckled, shaking her head. She didn’t let go, though, keeping Viv close for a few more moments before finally pulling back slightly.

Beth shifted in her seat, rubbing her arms lightly as the evening air grew cooler. Viv had just mentioned the drop in temperature, tugging her sleeves down as she exhaled.

Beth glanced at her. “You’re cold.” It wasn’t really a question.

Viv gave a small shrug. “A bit. Didn’t think it would get this chilly so fast.”

Beth hummed, looking around briefly before tilting her head toward Viv. “You could come back to my hotel room.”

Viv’s gaze flickered to hers, eyebrows raising slightly. “Your room?”

Beth bit back a smile at how careful Viv’s voice sounded, like she was trying to make sure she heard her right. “Yeah, my room,” she repeated, voice light. “I mean, everyone’s got their partners or family staying over. It’s not like it would be weird.”

Viv hesitated, rolling her bottom lip between her teeth. “Are you sure?”

Beth nodded without hesitation. “Yeah. Everyone’s got someone around.” She let her fingers brush against Viv’s on the table between them, her voice softening just a little. “You’re my someone.”

Viv exhaled, the tension in her shoulders easing slightly, but her fingers still traced absent circles against the table. “I’d love to,” she admitted, quiet, then hesitated. “I just—what if someone sees us? People are gonna wonder why I’m there with you.”

Beth gave her a small smile, leaning in just slightly. “I don’t think anyone would be surprised, Viv.”

Viv glanced at her, skeptical. “Really?”

Beth huffed a small laugh. “I mean… I’ve been talking about you a lot.”

Viv’s lips parted slightly, like she wasn’t sure what to say to that. “…You have?”

Beth smiled, leaning in a little. “I don’t mind. And honestly? I think most people already know. I’ve been talking about you a lot.”

Viv’s eyebrows lifted, her lips twitching. “Yeah?”

Beth hummed. “Yeah. Plus, I’m pretty sure Sarina clocked us the moment we hugged in the tunnel.”

Viv groaned, covering her face briefly before laughing. “Great.”

Beth laughed softly, nudging her shoulder. “So? You wanna warm up or not?”

Viv sighed dramatically, but the smile tugging at her lips betrayed her. “Yeah, okay. Let’s go.”

Beth grinned, standing up and waiting for Viv to follow. She didn’t let go of Viv’s wrist until they started walking, heading back together.

As they stepped into the hotel, the warmth of the lobby was a relief from the cool air outside. Beth and Viv were walking close, caught in an easy conversation, but the space was buzzing with movement—some players lingering at the bar, others making their way upstairs.

"You warming up now?" Beth asked, nudging Viv lightly with her elbow.

Viv huffed. "Barely. I think you just wanted an excuse to get me back to your room."

Beth smirked. "Maybe."

Beth rolled her eyes, but before she could respond, a familiar voice called out.

"Hey, you two."

They turned to see a couple of Beth’s teammates—Georgia and Lucy—standing near the hotel bar.

"Alright?" Beth greeted them with a grin, and Viv gave a polite nod in return.

"Nice to see you, Viv," Lucy added with a knowing smirk.

"Alright, you two?" Beth greeted, keeping her voice casual.

"Yeah, all good," Georgia said easily before her eyes flickered between Beth and Viv. "How’s the Netherlands camp doing? No grudges, I hope?"

Viv sighed dramatically. "Oh, I’m absolutely holding a grudge. I might never recover."

Lucy chuckled. "I mean, five-one is tough. If it helps, I only scored one."

Viv shot her a look. "Yeah, I’ll be sure to remember that when we play Barca next season."

Beth laughed, tugging Viv forward before Lucy could get herself in more trouble. "Right, we’re off before she starts plotting revenge."

As they neared the elevators, Beth pressed the button to call for a lift, and just then, the doors slid open to reveal Sarina Wiegman waiting inside.

"Viv," Sarina greeted, a small smile on her lips.

Viv straightened slightly as Sarina stepped forward and pulled her into a quick but firm hug, her grip lingering for just a second longer than expected.

Beth watched as Viv relaxed slightly under the touch, her body instinctively leaning in before she stepped back.

"Good to see you," Sarina said, glancing over Viv quickly before adding, "Even if it was under… unfortunate circumstances yesterday."

Viv let out a short breath. "Yeah. I got the post-match review."

Sarina hummed knowingly before her gaze flickered between Viv and Beth, her lips twitching slightly as she took in their proximity. Beth’s fingers had lightly brushed Viv’s wrist before Viv tucked her hands into her hoodie pocket.

Sarina didn’t say anything right away, but there was something in her expression—mildly amused, knowing.

"Beth," she finally greeted, nodding in her direction.

Beth smiled. "Boss."

There was a pause, then Sarina exhaled as if in thought. "I imagine it must be nice, seeing familiar faces again," she mused, her voice casual but the words deliberate. Her eyes briefly flickered to Viv before she stepped back into the elevator.

Beth’s lips twitched. "Yeah. Very nice."

Sarina nodded, her expression thoughtful as she glanced between them. "Some reunions are just bound to happen, aren’t they?"

Viv, who had been keeping it together relatively well, shifted slightly. "Uh. Yeah. Guess so."

Beth pressed her lips together to stifle a laugh, but the way Viv adjusted her stance gave her away.

Sarina hummed, eyes twinkling just a little. "Mm. Funny how things work out."

Before either of them could say anything else, the elevator doors opened. Sarina gave them both one last glance, the corner of her mouth twitching. "Enjoy your evening."

As soon as the doors slid shut behind her, Viv exhaled slowly, running a hand through her hair. "She definitely knows."

Beth smirked, leaning in just a little. "Oh, she knows. And she’s enjoying this way too much."

As soon as the door shut behind them, Beth barely gave Viv a second to take in the room before pushing her gently against the wall. Viv let out a small, surprised breath, but she didn’t resist. Instead, she tilted her head slightly, eyes flickering over Beth’s face as if she was trying to anticipate her next move.

Beth smirked, her hands sliding up Viv’s sides, resting just beneath her ribs. "What?" she murmured. "You look nervous."

Viv let out a breathy chuckle, shaking her head. "Not nervous," she muttered, voice a little lower now. "Just didn’t expect you to be this eager."

Beth hummed, leaning in to press a lingering kiss against Viv’s jaw before finally capturing her lips. Viv responded immediately, her hands moving to Beth’s hips, fingers digging in slightly as she pulled her closer. The kiss was slow but deep, Beth taking her time, teasing her, tilting her head to get an even better angle.

She nipped at Viv’s bottom lip before pulling back slightly, murmuring against her mouth, "Missed you."

Viv’s grip on her tightened. "You saw me yesterday."

Beth just smiled. "Doesn’t mean I didn’t miss you." She kissed her again, slower this time, pressing her body fully against Viv’s.

Viv exhaled softly, letting her hands travel up Beth’s back. "You’re in a mood tonight, huh?"

Beth grinned. "What can I say? Seeing you in person again does something to me." She dropped a teasing kiss to Viv’s neck, letting her lips linger there for a moment before pulling back to look at her.

Viv smirked, her hands moving to cup Beth’s face now, thumbs brushing over her cheeks. "And what exactly does it do to you?"

Beth pretended to think, tilting her head. "Well…" she started, running her fingers down Viv’s arms slowly. "Makes me want to keep kissing you like this." She pressed another kiss to Viv’s lips. "And maybe…" another kiss, this time softer, "maybe just forget about everything else for a while."

Viv chuckled against her lips. "That sounds dangerous."

Beth shrugged. "Could be fun, though."

Viv rolled her eyes but didn’t deny it. Instead, she finally pushed back gently, clearing her throat. "Should probably sit down before you completely ruin me against this wall."

Beth grinned, lacing their fingers together and tugging Viv toward the bed. "No promises."

Beth was lying against Viv, her head tucked into the crook of Viv’s neck as they rested on the hotel bed. Viv’s fingers traced over Beth’s arm lazily, and Beth hummed in appreciation.

“I love when you’re like this,” Beth murmured, pressing a kiss to Viv’s jaw.

“Like what?” Viv asked, voice quiet.

Beth smiled against her skin. “Soft,” she said. “Like, just touching me for the sake of it. Kissing me for the sake of it.”

Viv kissed the top of Beth’s head. “I’ll always be like this with you.”

Beth’s smile softened, and she was quiet for a few seconds before she spoke again. “You know when you only realize something wasn’t normal after the fact?”

Viv hummed in question.

Beth sighed. “Like… I feel like I never knew a relationship wasn’t supposed to be difficult. That it could be just… easy. Safe. Just being.”

Viv nodded, fingers continuing their slow tracing against Beth’s skin. “Yeah,” she said quietly. “I know what you mean.”

Beth turned to look at her. “Have you ever felt that?”

Viv hesitated, her cheeks going a bit pink as she nodded. “Yeah.”

Beth smiled. “Tell me?”

Viv exhaled, rubbing a hand down her face. “Well… I used to think it was normal to fake orgasms sometimes.”

Beth blinked, taken aback. “Really?”

Viv nodded. “Like, I just assumed everyone did it.”

Beth was quiet for a second before she asked, “How often?”

Viv looked a little flustered but answered, “Not always, but… sometimes.”

Beth tilted her head, watching her. “Why?”

Viv shrugged, eyes flickering down briefly before looking back at Beth. “I take a while sometimes. And I guess I just got embarrassed? Or felt like people got bored, so I just—” She gestured vaguely with her hand.

Beth frowned slightly. “And what did you do after?”

Viv chuckled, a bit sheepishly. “Pretended it was good, I don’t know.”

Beth leaned up to kiss her, pressing soft pecks to her lips between her words. “Did you ever do that with me?”

Viv shook her head immediately. “No. Never.”

Beth kissed her again, slower this time. “Good.”

There was a pause, and Beth’s voice was gentler when she asked, “And after? Did you ever finish later, like, on your own?”

Viv bit her lip, shaking her head. “No… They were still there, it would’ve been weird.”

Beth pulled back just enough to look at Viv, her fingers lightly tracing along her jaw. “It’s just really annoying,” she murmured, brushing her lips over Viv’s again. “Knowing that so many times, you weren’t satisfied.”

Viv hummed, eyes flickering between Beth’s lips and her eyes. “Yeah… sometimes, if they went to shower after, I’d try to finish really quick.” She let out a small, almost embarrassed chuckle. “But yeah. It’s okay, really—I just thought it was something everyone did.”

Beth’s expression softened, but there was something firm in the way she tilted Viv’s chin up slightly. “Please never feel like you have to pretend with me,” she murmured. “I’ll do it all night if I have to. Until you actually finish.”

Viv let out a breath, something like surprise flickering in her gaze, but then a slow smile tugged at her lips. “All night, huh?”

Beth smirked, leaning in again, capturing her lips in a kiss that was deeper, more insistent. Viv melted into it immediately, her hands sliding up Beth’s back, pulling her closer. The weight of Beth over her, the way her fingers were gripping just a little tighter now—it was enough to make Viv’s breath hitch.

Beth took her time, kissing her thoroughly, guiding the rhythm, pressing Viv further into the mattress as she took control. It was slow, intoxicating, and when Viv let out a quiet sound against her lips, Beth swallowed it greedily.

Beth didn’t stop. She kissed Viv like she wanted to prove something—like she wanted to rewrite every bad experience, replace them with something better. Viv let her, let Beth’s hands roam, let her press their bodies closer until there was no space left between them.

And then, just as Viv was starting to lose herself in it, Beth leaned in, her lips brushing against Viv’s ear.

Beth let her lips graze the shell of Viv’s ear, her voice dipping lower, teasing but coaxing. “How did you do it?” she murmured. “When you were in a hurry?”

Viv sucked in a quiet breath, her fingers flexing against Beth’s hips. “What?”

Beth smirked, pressing a slow, deliberate kiss just beneath her jaw. “You said sometimes, after they went to shower, you’d try to finish really quick.” She let her teeth scrape lightly over Viv’s skin before continuing, her voice smooth, steady. “How?”

Viv exhaled shakily, shifting slightly beneath Beth. She knew Beth wouldn’t let this go—not until she got an answer. And, if she was honest, she wasn’t sure she wanted her to.

She swallowed, her voice quieter now. “Just… rubbing,” she admitted, her cheeks flushing slightly. “It was faster that way.”

Beth pulled back just enough to look at her properly, her eyes dark but curious. “Not with your fingers?” she asked, tilting her head.

Viv shook her head, her lips twitching, like she was almost self-conscious. “No… just my clit,” she murmured. “It was quicker like that.”

Beth hummed, like she was filing that away, storing it for later. She brushed her thumb along Viv’s lower lip, watching the way Viv’s breath caught, the way she was already reacting.

“Quicker,” Beth repeated softly, dragging the word out like she was testing how it felt in her mouth. Her smirk turned a little playful, a little smug. “So you didn’t have much patience, huh?”

Viv exhaled a small laugh, shaking her head. “No. Not really.”

Beth leaned in, pressing another slow, lingering kiss to Viv’s lips. This time, she let her tongue slip past, deepening it, her hands smoothing over Viv’s sides, down her stomach. She moved deliberately, unhurried, letting the weight of her body settle over Viv’s.

Beth tilted her head slightly, her fingers still tracing slow patterns along Viv’s skin. She let a beat of silence pass before murmuring, “Do you still finish like that?”

Viv hesitated for just a second, then nodded. “When I’m alone… sometimes.”

Beth’s lips curled into a small, knowing smile. She pressed a kiss just beneath Viv’s ear, her voice dropping lower. “Hmm. Good to know.”

Viv swallowed, her pulse quickening under Beth’s touch. “Why do I feel like you’re planning something?” she murmured, voice quieter now.

Beth smirked against her skin. “Maybe I am.”

Viv exhaled, tilting her head slightly as Beth’s lips kept trailing lower. “Beth…”

Beth hummed in acknowledgment, her hands smoothing down Viv’s sides, moving deliberately slow. “It’s just…” She paused, dragging her nose along Viv’s cheek before whispering, “Now I can’t stop thinking about it.”

Viv let out a slow breath, her fingers gripping Beth’s arms. “Thinking about what?”

Beth nipped lightly at her jaw, her voice dipping lower. “You. Alone. Rushing to finish, rubbing your clit fast, trying to be quick.” She pulled back just slightly to look at Viv, her gaze dark, intent. “Did you ever think about me when you did it?”

Viv’s breath caught in her throat. The way Beth asked—so casually, so confidently, like she already knew the answer—made her stomach twist in the best way.

Her lips parted, but it took her a second to find her voice. “Yeah,” she admitted, barely above a whisper.

Beth’s smirk deepened, like she had just won something. “Yeah?” she echoed, tilting her head. “And did you still rush through it then?”

Viv exhaled sharply, her cheeks heating. “Sometimes.”

Beth hummed, running her fingers lightly over Viv’s stomach, just teasing, just enough to make her squirm. “What a shame,” she murmured, pressing her lips to Viv’s collarbone. “You shouldn’t have to rush.”

Viv let out a small, involuntary sound as Beth kissed her again, deeper now, her touch more insistent.

Viv made a soft sound against Beth’s mouth, and Beth pulled back just enough to whisper, “Show me.”

Viv’s breath hitched. “What?”

Beth kissed her again, slower, like she had all the time in the world. “I want to see,” she murmured, pressing her lips to the corner of Viv’s mouth. “How you do it when you’re in a hurry.”

Viv’s cheeks burned, but the way Beth was looking at her, the way her voice had dropped lower, sent a shiver through her. She exhaled, fingers gripping the fabric of Beth’s shirt.

Beth didn’t push—she never did. She just waited, patient but expectant, her lips hovering near Viv’s jaw.
Beth watched Viv carefully, her gaze gentle but intense, noticing the subtle flush spreading across Viv's cheeks. She leaned in, pressing another soft kiss along Viv's jaw before whispering softly, “Let me help.”

Viv nodded shyly, allowing Beth to ease her shirt slowly over her head. Her eyes softened as they traced Viv’s exposed skin, noticing how her breath grew shallow under Beth’s gaze, making something tighten pleasantly in her chest.

Beth’s fingers brushed gently over Viv’s stomach, hooking into the waistband of her sweatpants. Viv helped slightly, lifting her hips, cheeks still warm as she felt Beth’s careful gaze on her.

Once she was left only in her underwear, Viv exhaled softly, suddenly shy under Beth's careful attention.

Beth studied her quietly, warmth filling her chest. "You're beautiful," she murmured, pressing gentle kisses along Viv's collarbone.

Viv smiled faintly, cheeks flushed. She took Beth’s hand, guiding it lower, letting their fingers brush softly against the sensitive clit between her legs. Her movements were shy but trusting.

Viv swallowed, her cheeks flushed deep pink as she started to move her fingers in gentle, practiced circles. “Usually like this,” she murmured quietly, her breath trembling slightly. “Not too slow, but gentle at first.”

Beth watched carefully, mesmerized by the vulnerable intimacy of the moment. Her eyes moved between Viv’s face and her fingers, taking in the way Viv’s lips parted slightly, how her breathing deepened and grew uneven.

“Does it feel good right away?” Beth asked softly, genuinely curious.

Viv’s cheeks flushed deeper, but she answered honestly, voice barely audible. “Usually, yes… but only if I focus properly.”

Beth’s gaze softened, fingers brushing lightly against Viv’s thigh. “And if you need to hurry?”

Viv swallowed, embarrassed but open, her voice soft and shy. “Then I… add more pressure, tighter circles. Faster.”

Beth tilted her head slightly, fascinated. “Can you show me that, too?”

Viv hesitated, then nodded slowly. Her movements changed slightly—her fingertips pressing with more intensity, circles becoming tighter, more deliberate. Beth could feel Viv’s breathing quicken, her chest rising and falling visibly faster.

“Like this,” Viv whispered shakily, glancing shyly at Beth for reassurance. “When I'm close, I just…stay like this. I don’t change anything, just speed up a bit more.”

Beth gently touched Viv’s wrist, her fingers soothing. “Can I try?” she asked, her voice warm, patient.

Viv swallowed, momentarily pausing, clearly nervous. She reached down, gently guiding Beth’s hand to the exact spot she needed. “Here,” Viv murmured shyly, carefully positioning Beth’s fingers. “Not too hard, just firm enough to feel good.”

Beth nodded softly, carefully copying Viv’s motions. “Like this?”

Viv exhaled shakily, her body tensing pleasantly under Beth’s touch. “Yes—just a tiny bit lighter first. Let it build slowly.”

Beth adjusted instantly, smiling gently. “Tell me everything, okay? I want it to feel perfect for you.”

Viv let out a soft breath, relaxing more into Beth’s touch. “You’re already perfect,” she whispered softly, eyes fluttering closed for a moment before reopening, meeting Beth’s reassuring gaze. “When you feel me getting close, don’t stop. Keep the rhythm steady, just… pick up speed a little.”

Beth hummed in understanding, leaning closer to press a reassuring kiss to Viv’s temple. “Like this?”

Viv inhaled sharply, gripping Beth’s wrist gently, guiding her carefully. “Yes… exactly,” she murmured shakily, voice filled with quiet vulnerability and growing need. “Don’t stop now, Beth. Just like this.”

It didn’t take long. Viv’s breath quickened, her body tensing under Beth’s touch, her fingers gripping tightly at the sheets beside her. A soft, almost surprised whimper left her lips as the tension inside her snapped suddenly, her back arching slightly as waves of pleasure crashed over her.

Beth slowed her touch gradually, letting Viv ride out every last tremor before finally stilling her movements. She watched Viv carefully, heart swelling at the sight of her flushed cheeks, her slightly dazed expression.

Beth smirked slightly, her voice soft but teasing. “That was fast.”

Viv groaned, covering her face with her hands. “Oh my God.”

Beth chuckled, leaning down to press a warm kiss to Viv’s shoulder. “Hey, don’t do that,” she murmured, gently pulling Viv’s hands away from her face. “You have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about.”

Viv’s cheeks were still warm as she peeked up at Beth through her lashes. “I didn’t mean for it to happen that fast,” she admitted, voice small.

Beth softened, brushing her knuckles gently over Viv’s cheek. “Viv,” she said sincerely, “I literally asked you to show me. Please don’t be embarrassed.”

Viv let out a slow breath, still clearly flustered, but Beth leaned in, pressing another soft kiss to her lips. “I loved seeing you like that,” she whispered against her mouth. “So don’t hide from me, okay?”

Viv exhaled, something in her chest loosening at Beth’s words. Slowly, she nodded. “Okay.”

Beth traced gentle patterns along Viv’s flushed skin, her fingers soothing as she pressed a lingering kiss to her shoulder. She could still feel the faint shivers running through Viv’s body, the aftereffects of pleasure leaving her soft and pliant beneath her.

After a few moments of comfortable silence, Beth murmured curiously, “So… you never use your fingers?”

Viv’s breath caught slightly, her cheeks still warm as she turned her head to look at Beth. “What do you mean?”

Beth smiled softly, tilting her head. “Like—inside,” she clarified, her voice light, but still filled with curiosity. “You never finger yourself?”

Viv bit her lip, her expression turning a little shy again. “Not really… I mean, I have, but it just takes me way longer.”

Beth hummed, intrigued, running her fingers gently over Viv’s hip. “Why do you think that is?”

Viv shrugged slightly, shifting under Beth’s gaze. “I don’t know. Maybe I overthink it? Or maybe I just don’t do it right.”

Beth’s lips curled slightly, a teasing smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth. “There’s no ‘right’ way, Viv.”

Viv let out a soft, embarrassed laugh. “Well, if there is, I clearly haven’t figured it out.”

Beth smirked slightly, her fingers still tracing slow, absentminded patterns over Viv’s skin. “But when I do it… you can finish,” she murmured, tilting her head slightly as she studied Viv’s face.

Viv let out a soft, embarrassed laugh, shifting slightly under Beth’s touch. “Yeah… you do it better on me than I do on myself.”

Beth grinned, pressing a kiss to Viv’s shoulder. “Yeah?” she teased, her tone playful but warm.

Viv exhaled, her cheeks still flushed. “I like fingering,” she admitted softly. “It’s not that I don’t enjoy it—I do. But when I do it myself… I just take so long.” She glanced at Beth, shaking her head slightly, voice full of quiet awe. “I don’t know how you do that to me so good.”

Beth’s smirk deepened, her fingers gently brushing over Viv’s thigh. “Mmm. Well, I’ve noticed you react really well when I curve them.”

Viv inhaled softly, her body instinctively responding to just the thought. “Yeah,” she murmured, almost shyly. “That… that feels really good.”

Beth hummed, thoughtful. “You probably don’t do that when you try, do you?”

Viv shook her head, her voice quiet. “Not really. I just… move in and out, I guess. I don’t think about the angle as much.”

Beth smiled, kissing the corner of Viv’s mouth. “That’s where you’re going wrong, love.”

“Could you…” Viv swallowed, cheeks growing warmer. “Could you teach me?”

Beth’s gaze softened instantly, and for a moment, she just studied Viv’s face, taking in the nervous but eager look in her eyes. “You want me to show you?” she asked gently, her fingers brushing over Viv’s hand.

Viv nodded slowly. “Yeah… I mean, I want to know how to do it right.” She let out a small, shy laugh. “Or at least, how you do it.”

Beth smirked, tucking a stray strand of hair behind Viv’s ear. “I’d love to,” she murmured, pressing a slow kiss to Viv’s jaw. “I like the idea of teaching you exactly how to make yourself feel as good as I do.”

Viv exhaled, her fingers lightly gripping Beth’s arm. “Okay,” she whispered, voice barely above a breath. “Show me.”

Beth smiled, brushing her fingers down Viv’s arm before guiding her hand gently to her own chest. “Alright,” she murmured, voice soft but certain. “First thing—before you even go down there, you need to stimulate your body more.”

Viv blinked, a little surprised. “I do?”

Beth smirked, pressing a soft kiss to her jaw. “Yes, love. You get so turned on when I touch your nipples, so why wouldn’t you do it to yourself?” She ran her fingers teasingly over Viv’s collarbone before letting her own hand drift lower, lightly tracing over Viv’s breast. “Go on,” she encouraged. “Touch yourself.”

Viv swallowed, cheeks pink, but did as Beth said, tentatively running her fingers over her own nipple. She sucked in a small breath at the sensation, biting her lip.

Beth watched closely, nodding in approval. “Good… but rougher,” she instructed, her voice dipping lower, coaxing.

Viv hesitated for just a second before rolling the sensitive bud between her fingers, applying more pressure.

Beth grinned, satisfied. “See? Much better,” she murmured, leaning in to brush her lips against Viv’s cheek. “You’re warming yourself up. That’s important.”

Viv exhaled slowly, her body already reacting in ways she hadn’t expected. “Okay,” she whispered, her voice breathy.

Beth reached for Viv’s hand again, lacing their fingers together before bringing them to her lips. “Now, lick two fingers,” she instructed, her gaze flickering between Viv’s eyes and her mouth. “You’re too tight to go in without lube.”

Viv felt her stomach flip at the way Beth said it, but she obeyed without question. She parted her lips, slipping two fingers inside and coating them with her tongue, her eyes fluttering slightly when she caught the way Beth was watching her.

Beth’s lips curled. “Good girl,” she murmured approvingly before guiding Viv’s hand down between her legs.

Viv took a deep breath as she pressed her fingers against herself, glancing at Beth for reassurance. Beth nodded. “Start slow,” she whispered. “Just press them there first—get used to the feeling.”

Viv did as she was told, exhaling shakily as she applied gentle pressure. “Like this?” she asked softly.

Beth hummed, her hand moving to Viv’s jaw, turning her head slightly so their lips were just a breath apart. “Yeah,” she murmured. “Now, go even slower when you push inside. Don’t rush.”

Viv swallowed, focusing as she slowly eased her fingers in. A soft sound left her lips, and Beth smiled, pressing a small kiss to her temple. “That’s it,” she encouraged. “Now, curve them—just a little.”

Viv adjusted her wrist, curling her fingers slightly. She gasped, her body jolting at the sudden sensation.

Beth chuckled. “See? That’s what you were missing before.”

Viv exhaled shakily. “Oh. Yeah. That feels—” She cut herself off, biting her lip.

Beth smirked, her voice like honey. “Good. Now, when you pull out, don’t take them out all the way. Keep a rhythm—curve them a few times, then go in and out.” She pressed another soft kiss along Viv’s jaw, her voice dropping into a husky whisper. “And don’t forget to press your clit while you do it. It helps.”

Viv moaned softly at the thought, her breath stuttering. “You’re really good at this,” she murmured.

Beth grinned, tilting Viv’s chin to kiss her deeply before murmuring against her lips, “I know. Now, keep going—make yourself feel good.”

Beth watched Viv carefully, her eyes dark with focus but full of warmth. She could see the way Viv’s breathing had quickened, her brows slightly furrowed as she tried to maintain the rhythm Beth had guided her through.

“You’re doing so well,” Beth murmured, her voice smooth and encouraging. She traced her fingers lightly over Viv’s hip, feeling the subtle tension building in her muscles. “Don’t rush it, love. Take your time.”

Viv let out a small whimper, shifting slightly under Beth’s gaze. “I—I don’t know why it’s taking so long,” she murmured, frustration creeping into her voice.

Beth smiled knowingly, leaning in to kiss the side of Viv’s jaw. “That’s a good thing,” she reassured her. “When you’re not rushing, it builds up more, and when you finally get there, it’ll be even better.”

Viv swallowed hard, her fingers twitching slightly where they moved inside herself. “But I feel like I’m so close, and it’s just… not happening.”

Beth hummed, tilting her head slightly as she ran her hand along Viv’s arm. “Try changing the rhythm a little,” she suggested. “Go a little deeper, then pull back just enough. Not too much—just enough to keep teasing yourself.”

Viv let out a slow breath, adjusting her movements as Beth instructed. Her lips parted slightly as the sensation shifted, her body reacting to the change.

Beth smirked, watching the way Viv’s breath hitched. “See?” she murmured. “Feels different, doesn’t it?”

Viv let out a small, desperate-sounding noise. “Yeah,” she whispered. “Better.”

Beth brushed a few strands of hair from Viv’s face, watching her closely. “Now, rub your clit again—but slower this time. Let yourself feel everything.”

Viv whimpered, her other hand moving shakily to follow Beth’s instruction. She swallowed hard, her body tensing slightly as she tried to hold on, her thighs shifting restlessly. “Beth,” she breathed, her voice laced with need.

Beth smiled, tilting Viv’s chin so she could press a slow, deliberate kiss to her lips. “That’s it,” she whispered against her mouth. “Let it build. Don’t fight it.”

Viv let out a frustrated little sound, her fingers moving a little faster now, her body practically vibrating with the tension that had been steadily coiling inside her. “I—I need—” she stammered, but she didn’t even know how to finish the sentence.

Beth kissed her again, deep and lingering. “You don’t need to do anything but feel,” she murmured. “It’s all going to hit you soon—just let go when it does.”

Viv whimpered, her breath stuttering, her body trembling beneath Beth’s touch.

Viv’s breath hitched sharply, her entire body tensing as the overwhelming wave of pleasure crashed over her. A soft, broken whimper escaped her lips, her fingers faltering as the tension unraveled inside her. Her back arched slightly, her thighs trembling as she gasped Beth’s name, her body shuddering with release.

Beth held her close, her hands immediately soothing over Viv’s skin, grounding her. “That’s it,” she whispered, pressing slow, reassuring kisses along Viv’s jaw and cheek. “Just let it happen, love.”

Viv exhaled shakily, her fingers slipping away as the last tremors ran through her. She felt weightless, her entire body loose and warm, the lingering pleasure still pulsing through her veins. Her breath came out in uneven pants, and she barely registered Beth gently guiding her hand away, making sure she didn’t overstimulate herself.

Beth shifted, wrapping her arms around Viv, pulling her against her chest. “Come here,” she murmured, pressing a kiss to Viv’s damp temple.

Viv let out a soft, content sigh, immediately melting into Beth’s hold. She buried her face against Beth’s neck, her arms weakly draping around her waist. “That was…” she trailed off, still breathless, still slightly dazed.

Beth chuckled softly, stroking her hand up and down Viv’s spine in slow, soothing motions. “Good?” she teased lightly, pressing another kiss into Viv’s hair.

Viv let out a tiny laugh, nodding against her. “Yeah. Really good.”

Beth hummed, her fingers tracing absentmindedly along Viv’s back. “Told you taking your time was worth it,” she murmured.

Viv smiled, her body still too relaxed to argue. “Yeah, yeah,” she mumbled sleepily, her breath warm against Beth’s skin. “You were right.”

Beth grinned, pressing another soft kiss to Viv’s forehead. “I like hearing that,” she teased, tightening her arms around her. “Now just relax, love. I’ve got you.”

Beth lay on her back, one arm draped lazily over Viv’s waist, fingers tracing slow, absentminded circles against her skin. Viv was curled slightly against her, her head resting near Beth’s shoulder, their legs tangled comfortably beneath the sheets. The room was quiet, filled only with the soft sound of their breaths, the warmth of their bodies lingering in the aftermath of everything.

Beth let out a content sigh, running her fingers gently along Viv’s spine before murmuring, “When are you going?”

She felt the shift immediately. Viv’s body tensed slightly, the easy relaxation of moments before fading as she adjusted her position, her muscles subtly stiffening under Beth’s touch.

Beth frowned, her brows drawing together slightly. Before she could say anything, Viv’s voice cut through the silence, quiet, almost uncertain. “I can go now if you want.”

Beth’s stomach twisted. “Viv…” she started, but Viv was already shaking her head slightly, shifting so she could look at Beth properly.

“I mean it,” Viv murmured, her expression unreadable, guarded in a way that made Beth’s heart ache. “If you want me to go, I understand.”

Beth sat up slightly, propping herself on her elbow as she cupped Viv’s cheek gently, tilting her face so she could really see her. “Hey,” she whispered, brushing her thumb along Viv’s skin. “That’s not what I meant.”

Viv studied her for a second before exhaling softly. “I only need to be back tomorrow morning,” she admitted quietly. “We’re allowed to spend the night out.”

Beth’s shoulders loosened slightly at that, relief washing over her. “So… you don’t have to go?”

Viv shook her head. “No. Not unless you—” she hesitated, searching Beth’s face, “—unless you need me to.”

Beth’s heart clenched, and before Viv could say anything else, she wrapped her arms around her, pulling her in tightly. “No,” she whispered fiercely, burying her face against Viv’s neck. “Don’t leave. I want you here. At least until tomorrow morning.”

Viv let out a soft breath, her body relaxing slightly under Beth’s grip. “Are you sure?” she murmured.

Beth pulled back just enough to look into Viv’s eyes, her gaze steady, sincere. “I’m completely sure,” she said firmly. “Sorry if it sounded like I wanted you to go. I definitely don’t want that.”

Beth exhaled deeply, her arms still wrapped tightly around Viv, her fingers stroking up and down her back in slow, soothing motions. The tension that had settled in Viv’s body was fading now, but Beth could still feel the lingering hesitation in the way she held herself.

After a quiet moment, Beth shifted slightly, pressing a kiss into Viv’s hair. “You okay?” she murmured.

Viv hesitated just for a second before nodding against Beth’s chest. “Yeah,” she said softly. Then, after another pause, she added, “I just… I felt a little insecure for a second.”

Beth frowned slightly, tilting her head down to try and see Viv’s expression. “Why?” she asked gently.

Viv swallowed, her fingers lightly gripping Beth’s side as she exhaled. “Just… when you asked when I was going, I thought maybe you wanted me to leave.” She hesitated, then admitted even quieter, “Like, after we had sex, maybe you wanted space or… I don’t know."

Beth’s heart clenched at the quiet vulnerability in Viv’s voice. She pulled back just enough to cradle Viv’s face in her hands, tilting her chin up so she could meet her eyes. “Hey,” Beth whispered, her voice steady, reassuring. “That’s not what I meant at all.”

Viv’s gaze flickered down for a moment before she forced herself to meet Beth’s eyes again. “I know,” she murmured. “I just… couldn’t help thinking it, even if I knew it was probably stupid.”

Beth’s grip on her tightened just slightly, as if anchoring her there. “It’s not stupid,” she said softly. “But listen to me, okay? I don’t want you to go. Not now, not after this, not just because we had sex.” She stroked her thumb over Viv’s cheek, her voice firm but full of warmth. “I want you here because I love being with you. Because I sleep better with you next to me. Because waking up with you in the morning sounds so much better than waking up alone.”

Viv let out a small, shaky breath, and Beth could see the way her shoulders eased slightly, the tightness in her expression loosening. “You mean that?” she asked, her voice quiet.

Beth huffed a soft laugh, pressing a lingering kiss to Viv’s forehead. “Of course I do,” she whispered. “I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t.” She smiled, tilting her head. “Besides, if I wanted you gone, do you really think I’d be holding onto you like this?”

Viv let out a small, breathy laugh, her arms tightening around Beth in return. “Guess not,” she admitted.

Beth grinned, pressing another kiss to her temple. “Exactly.” She shifted slightly, adjusting their tangled limbs under the sheets before murmuring, “So, no more thinking like that, okay? You belong here, with me.”

Viv exhaled, sinking into Beth’s warmth. “Okay,” she whispered.

And with that, Beth held her, feeling Viv’s breathing slow, her body finally relaxing completely against her own.
