Trouble in the House
House Sorting. As the name suggests, it is when the first-years' find out what house in Hogwarts they will be put in. There are four different houses at Hogwarts.
The scarlet-gold Gryffindor People who belong in this house possess a great deal of bravery, and their determined, brave, and daring traits stand out and set them apart from others.
On the other hand, the Blue-Bronze Ravenclaw is known for their wit, intelligence, and creativity, as well as being studious, if not curious.
There is also the Yellow-Black Hufflepuff, who are the most loyal, fair, just, and modest, and are known for being hard-working and kind.
The last one, but certainly not the least, is the green-silver Slytherin. They are people who are surely cunning, ambitious, and also known for their determination and pride in themselves.
Everyone will surely belong to one of these houses. However, for our Cale Henituse, it won't be anyone.
"Crap."
Now that he's considering which house is the best for his free time, he's quite sure he doesn't belong to any of these houses, especially when he's in the middle of his identity crisis. (The comment section says otherwise, though.)
His cowardice against pain set him out to the Gryffindor. He's not that studious and totally does not, to be in Ravenclaw. He's most likely least to be Hufflepuff because none of those traits scream "him," and also Slytherin unless you call his dream of a slacker life an ambition.
Overall, no other house fits Cale better than his own. However, he's not discouraged about not belonging to any of these houses. In fact, he's considering that if somehow he manages not to be at any houses, he'll be forcefully expelled from this school without a hinge.
- That won't do, Cale. I'm sure there's a reason you're here. -
'Then what reason is that?'
- I don't know. But I can feel the strong presence of my siblings here. I think it's not a coincidence that it's here. -
'Who's - ah.' Cale stopped again before continuing, 'Siblings, you mean other ancient powers, right?'
- That's right. I think we should find it all right away before it's too late. -
"Hm.." Cale let out a sigh.
"Alright?" His first Hogwarts friend, Hannah Abbot, asked.
"Ah. No, I mean, yes."
"Even with that unused face to express yourself, I guess you're also as nervous as us." His other Hogwarts friend, Anthony Goldstein, said it, nodding to himself.
"I guess."
In fact, Cale Weasley is as nervous as they say, although for a different reason. He thinks about all the strange things happening to him these days. He felt like he had pinpointed the center of it all.
Hogwarts.
Ever since he received Hogwarts' letter, a lot of unusual things have been happening to him and around him. It's not unusual, it's supposed to be an impossible situation.
He doesn't know if it's an ominous sign that he'll never achieve his peace, even in Hogwarts, or a message that impossible things are possible, so you can definitely achieve it.
Nevertheless, good or bad, he doesn't want to get involved in any of those things. His objectives here are to find the rest of the Ancient Powers and regain his memories of the past, as well as graduate from this school and work until his mid-20s. After that, he can live in peace with his family. That's all.
- Are you sure you still haven't received your memories yet? You think exactly the same. -
'Really? I won't have any further identity crises, then.'
- Hahaha, sure. -
Cale decided to ignore the dry laugh of Glutton as his stomach started to feel hungry again.
"You haven't eaten yet?" Anthony asked, hearing the light growl from Cale's stomach.
"I have. I just easily hungry, that's all."
"Welp, here, my leftover chocolate-rainbow marshmallows. Don't eat much, though; it'll upset your stomach." Anthony handed him a bag of snacks, and he nodded as he munched on the sweet, soft marshmallows.
"Cale!" Cale heard another person call his name. It is Ron, with Harry and Hermione beside him.
"What?"
"Don't what me. What are you eating? Don't tell me you did-"
"I didn't."
"Sca- oh, I know so. Who's that?" Ron saw two people too close beside Cale, so he asked.
Anthony then showed himself by bending slightly with a smile and saying, "Hi, I'm Anthony. Cale's first ever friend, Nice 'o meet 'cha." He waved slightly and then turned their attention to Hannah by patting her shoulder.
"Hannah Abbott. Cale's first female friend, nice meeting you." She smiled and looked at Ron's reaction. It doesn't seem like he's objecting, so she eases her shoulder.
'Why is mentioning the "first" the highlight here?' Cale asked himself, not understanding the logic.
"Hm.. I approve of it. Nice to meet you, too. I'm Cale's older brother and best buddy, Ron Weasley. It's nice to see Cale's FIRST ever mate."
Before Cale could even think of another reason why 'first' was necessary, he saw their guide, Hagrid — whom he had met at the bookstore last time, knock at the huge castle door in front of them as it swung open.
A tall witch with a stern yet welcoming expression is seen inside. He saw her look at him for a second before turning to someone else. He made him nervous for a second before deciding to ignore it anyway.
"The first year' Professor McGonagall." Said Hagrid as he gave her a smile.
""Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here." She said as she began to walk, and they followed her without a doubt.
She led them to an empty chamber as she stopped, looked at them, and said, "Welcome to Hogwarts." She then started to speak about the four different houses and the house cup, which is like a house competition each year.
"The sorting ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I shall return when we are ready for you, Please wait quietly." She said this and left the chamber in silence, leaving the murmuring students behind.
"What do you think the test would be?" Anthony asked, looking at them with a hint of nervousness.
"I don't know about it, but it shouldn't be that hard... right?" Hannah looked at them, trying to find reassurance.
- Oh my Hannah! Cale, reassure her, I bet she's so nervous right now. -
"None of my brothers failed, so it won't be bad enough."
- You.. call that reassurance? Sigh, never mind. *Whisper: Different my ass* - Glutton cursed as Cale slightly narrowed his eyes at the insult.
'I can hear you even if you whisper, you know?'
- Yeah, yeah, sigh. I want my little brother (Crybaby) here to share my pain with. -
Cale decided to ignore her blather.
Anthony then patted her shoulder and smiled, "Don't worry. There's no way they're going to test us to the bone if they still want their school to have living students." That smile doesn't look reassuring at all.
- Wow, I guess there are people like you here too, Cale. -
'Oh shut up.' Cale sighed.
"Look, ghosts!" One student shouted as they looked where he was pointing.
Ghosts have passed through the back hall and are floating towards them. Their transparent bodies allowed them to see the thing behind them. The other student looks scared, while the other looks amazed.
"New students!" said the Fat Friar, whose name he'd heard from the ghost monk earlier, smiling around at them. "About to be sorted, I suppose?" She asked, and others nodded, including Hannah.
"Then I hope to see you in Hufflepuff! It's nice there, my old house, you see."
""Move along now. The sorting ceremony's about to start." Said Professor McGonagall, who returned just now. The ghosts then floated away into the other hall.
"Now, form a line," Professor McGonagall told them, and add, "and follow me."
They formed a line with Anthony on his front and Hannah on his back, saying she's much more comfortable that way.
They then followed her again, saw a double door, and went inside the great hall. It was such a great sight for everyone, even for Cale himself.
The great hall was lit by numerous candles being floated by magic. The hall has four long tables filled with students.
'How annoying' Cale thought after hearing loud murmurs coming from the students, who were looking at them as some sort of entertainment.
At the end of the hall, where they were looking, is where the teachers are sitting. They then continued their walk through the space in the middle and stopped after arriving at the front, where the teachers were.
There, they saw a stool. Above it is a dirty wizard's hat that looks like it hasn't been cleaned for a century. Truth be told, it hasn't.
"What are they going to do with that? Who cleans that thing within a minute, pass?" Anthony looked at the hat with distrust, and maybe disgust.
"Where do you get that idea from, I wonder."
"My friend, don't be like that. I'm much smarter than I seem, you know?"
"Yeah, sure."
Before Anthony could even start complaining, the hall became completely quiet. Then, the rip on the hat began to open as it let out an old voice, singing.
"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
(I didn't skip it cause, why not, I'll be the sorting hat.)
The hall bursts into cheers and loud applause. They then felt relieved after knowing what the test would be.
"When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted," she said. "Abbott, Hannah!"
She called Hannah first. She paused for a second as Anthony gave her a cheering smile. She made her way to the hall and sat on the stool. She put the hat on her head, and after a moment of pause, it declared, "HUFFLEPUFF!"
She grinned excitedly as the other Hufflepuffs clapped their hands. Cale and Anthony waved at her as she left and went to Hufflepuff's table.
Others are called after her and put in different houses, mostly Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff.
"Granger, Hermione!" It is the girl whom he saw on their compartment's turn then. "GRYFFINDOR!" With the shout, he heard his brother, who's behind him now after Hannah left, groaned.
His lips puffed up slightly over Ron's grimace, which returned with a slight glare.
After Hermione, Anthony goes next. He's getting annoying after wishing to be put on Hufflepuff with Cale.
"Hm.. I see.. But.. I guess.." It took more time for the hat to decide, but still, he'll be in, "RAVENCLAW!"
Anthony's face dropped for a moment before seeing Hannah's cheering grin. He's still disappointed, but he's decided to put it all aside and go to his own table.
It took a while before he heard the name, "Malfoy, Draco!"
Cale saw him looking at him with a smile, which he returned with a nod. Even before the hat touched Draco, it decided to put him on, "GYFFINDOR!"
Or so Cale imagined the twist would be. However, he knows where Draco will put in, "SLYTHERIN!"
Cale sighed after hearing the house. He didn't think all of them would be in completely different houses. However, he thinks it is also good as he needs at least one acquaintance to do the hard work for him, and because of it, he won't need to worry about which house he will be in.
"Potter, Harry!" Cale immediately looked at the said individual. He keeps hearing annoying murmurs about him and them as he stares at Harry in pity.
If he's him, he'd rather not attend this school and become an ordinary muggle instead of being the topic of everyone's gossip, everywhere. However, he is not Harry so that's the other boy's decision. All he can do is sympathize with the thorny part he's chosen.

Meanwhile, Harry, who's looking at Cale secretly, thinks that he said something upsetting that made Cale frown. Maybe he'll ask him later.
After sitting on the stool, he put the hat on his head and waited for it to tell his house.
"Hm.. How curious. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind either. There's talent, oh my goodness, yes — and a nice thirst to prove yourself, now that's interesting.... So where shall I put you?" A small voice came from inside the hat.
Harry thinks about it. He didn't have any preferences even now, but what he wants is...
"We should be Gryffindor; I mean, all of my brothers are one."
"Gryffindor, please be Gryffindor." He whispered, trying not to be heard by Professor McGonagall.
"Gryffindor, eh? Are you sure? You should be great at others, though. Slytherin, for example. There's no doubt about that — no? Well, if you're sure, it better be GRYFFINDOR!"
Harry cheered, and at the same time, the Gryffindors burst into loud claps and shouts. He looked at Cale, who shook his head slightly in defeat.
Harry's smile weakened, and he subconsciously held onto his old necklace, which had been with him since he could speak. It was a necklace with the letter W on the pendant. (Pic Above or Below)
He doesn't know what it means but his uncle said that it is an acronym for 'weak' which he didn't believe at all.

'What an unlucky lad.'
- It's just for you, Cale -
'Sigh, what's bad is he can't do anything about it. How unfortunate.'
- Sigh -
"Cale, Cale! It's your turn now."
"Ah." He's too absorbed in his thoughts to hear his name being called.
Cale then walks towards Professor McGonagall and sits on the stool. He looked at the stares the people were giving him as he sighed loudly.
"Ah." He forgot to hold the sigh back.
"Ahem, sorry." Cale coughed and decided to put the hat on already.
"Oh, another one, I see. How difficult. A lot of courage, hm, hm. Too cunning, I see. Plenty of talent you have there, boy. There's loyalty and intelligence, too. How hard—too hard—to decide. Why don't I ask you, lad?"
"Home... I mean, I want a place where I can sleep for longer than I wish to and maybe be peaceful; in short, my home."
"HAHA, I see, you also have incredible humor."
'What the hell is he talking about?'
- Cale, this Noona believes in your dreams. -
Cale really can't understand what they are talking about, however, he already has a house in mind now.
Little did he know, the atmosphere in the hall had become denser because of how long he'd been there without saying a word. Just his annoyed(Normal face) somewhere.
"So, where should you be."
"Where my brothers should be." He whispered. He'll be in Gryffindor anyway, so why bother requesting? Also, his last choice is the one Anthony didn't recommend, so it's both good and good.
"You don't mean, Oh. Well, very well chosen. Now then, you'll be in,"
"SLYTHERIN!"
Others don't know why, but almost all of the students, including teachers, clapped after he announced his house.
Including there is the happiest, Draco, whose grin is as wide as it can be. However, not everyone has already absorbed the information in their heads.
Harry, whose Cale is the reason he wants to be a Gryffindor, felt like the world betrayed him for the second time. Cale's siblings, especially the twin, had a hard time processing that Cale is in a different house from them, especially since he's in their enemy's house.
'No... way...'
'Bloody hell..'
'How can that be?'
'We can't wake him up anymore. We can't watch him until he falls asleep anymore. We can't feed him his favorite apple pie anymore. We can't be with him anymore. We can't, we...CAN'T'
In short,
END
OF
THE
WORLD.
- Weasley siblings + Harry Potter With Hannah and Anthony's dry smiles while shaking their heads like they'd expected Cale's unfortunate destiny.
***
Cale is frozen to his seat. He had no time to hear the hesitant applause of people around him.
'No way'
"Hey,"
"..." The voice of the hat didn't come out.
"Don't mess with me. Slytherin, why? I said Gryffindor, not-"
"Ah, you mean that. However, you fit there more than anywhere else, boy, I assure you, it will."
"Fuck*ng." Cale let out his littlest voice. (Family-friendly, haha.)
"Sh*t." Another cursed.
Cale felt too betrayed by his slacker life right now. He's never been this unlucky before.
'Could this be... I got my past unluckiness?'
- It seems so -
'Why do you sound happy?'
- I'm not -
"Well damn." He never thinks he'll say three different curse words on the same day.
*Badum*
'This feeling...'
*Badum*
"I'm having a bad, no, a really horrible feelings about this."
And that feeling seems to be coming true. After all, there's someone smirking at the scene they've been seeing right now with pure delight, and entertainment.
